Start a dedicated free salvage public channel? Who knows anyone others might be interested to contribute/leech. Easier to manage/advertise as they can come/go as they please. |

This is actually quite a decent idea. A way to give a new player a leg up and no real cost to yourself if you had no intentiion of salvaging/looting.
A rare win win scenario.
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |

that is like 100% the idea I wanted to do for a long time now but I never tought about making a channel for it Iw as thinking to difficult.
you can just use rightclick and abbandon the wrecks around you (they turn blue) and then bookmark and trade/contract the bookmark to any player in channel that wants to do it
salvaging is MASSIVE income for any starting player

A salvager channel would be a darned good idea. Many times I have left behind wreck balls with no time to do anything about it.
Unfortunately, it does not work well with the original intent of being able to salvage someone's wreck: tears. While that crowd publicly states that it's all about game mechanics and a "profession", in their private channels and blogs they relish in doing it to deny someone else whatever it is that the denying party perceives. That is, if the mission runner complains about it, they claim they got tears. If the mission runner does not say anything, they claim tears.
For a noob with a frigate, tractor beam, and salvager, this can be a gold mine. The public salvage channel is a fantastic idea. (so is abandoning wrecks).

Question: Does the mission runner collect tears when they pop wrecks after seeing probes on scan before the ninja is in mission? How about when you pop wrecks in their face as they salvage them, when they chase after another wreck, I pop it again until they leave? I just want to be certain the "salty secretion solution" I have been collecting in the hold of my Iteron 5 is pure tears, its supposed give 3x the AU per warp when you put it into the fuel bay and much more environmentally friendly .

When a mission runner pops wrecks, the ninjas still consider that tears and will blog about that.
It's kind of like that creepy cousin everybody has at least one of. The one who thinks that if a girl looks at him, she wants him, or if she catches him staring at her and walks away, she wants him, or if he hits on her and she tells him to take a hike, she wants him.

I became so darn lazy as of lately (couple of months) and i am not looting or salvaging almost anything anymore... I will gladly hop into that channel, and give newbies a chance to earn some iskies :)
Maybe OP could make a website about this (or find someone with the time and will to do it) and popularize this idea more, it actually might convince more players to sub after their trial is over :) |

I will put my mission runners in this channel, I mission in Thiarer, which is a bit out of the way, but maybe if I can get some of the other mission runners here to join the channel it might be worthwhile for someone to come along and salvage.

The only problem with this is the actual mechanics of informing the newbie salvager of where the wrecks are.
What would work pretty well is if you could also transfer a bookmark either through the chat window or through evemail. Right now the only way is by jetcanning it or by contracts. Kinda clumsy really. ----- this signature line intentionally left blank. |

1) Missioner calls out what system/mission he's about to start/how long it's likely to take. 2) While running, someone takes up wreck offer, either is already there or can move. 3) On return, contract BM to salvager.
Logistical problem solved :p

When I started this character almost 2 years ago I stumbled across a channel that was being supported by Elite Trade Group out of low sec. It was a channel to pair up mission runners and Salvagers... I made a fortune, and some friends I still talk to today. I think this is a great idea... I will join the channel when I log on tonight or tomorrow.

The Free Wrecks channel works like a charm. Took a low level mission to test targeting systems, it was a Blockade mission. Had a wreck ball the size of Cleveland.
Found a noob to salvage - left all - not caring for loot, but hating to see so many wrecks go to waste.
Thanks Free Wreck channel.

to whom it may concern.
we at "free Wrecks" are a fledgling operation, we partner up mission runners who do not want thier over whelming amounts of wrecks, with singly active salavagers & looters who are more than willing to make thier mission running partners happy. Join the channel "Free Wrecks" and maybe you will find the looter of your dreams. Go ahead and clap. Mediocrity deserves applause. Why don't we go find Pandemic Legion and clap around them! |

Edited by: Eatha Yaman on 10/07/2010 09:01:49 Went out to play janitor for Lady Aja, made about 55m plus another 12m isk sitting in sell orders, plus a whole bunch of loot sitting in a station that I have yet to look at. I've got to say, it was a good night - way more isk than a noob like me could make otherwise.
Thank you Free Wrecks, A++++ would salvage again!
