The problem with EFT is that it relies on all stats being at level V in order to generate its data.
Great if all your stats are at level V, but if you're looking for an accurate measurement on your DPS, it's not so great at all.
So the inclusion of DPS output in the fitting window would be cool.

Pain in the bum, though. And since many are on a mac and don't want to faff around with getting EFT to work on said mac placing a DPS readout in the Eve Fitting Window in-game would be shiny.

Fail, You realise all you have to do is paste your api in and then you can select your character with the exact skills you have ingame. Takes all of 30 seconds.

Clearly you missed the part where I said I don't use EFT very often because running it on a mac is an arse.
There is also the addition that new players don't immediately know about EFT, so by adding a DPS measure to the fitting window one is allowing new players to make better decisions when fitting out their ships.

Sometimes... you have to do more than just turn on the computer, to succeed...
There's already an extreme amount of data thrown at rookies, which they know nothing about. So bombarding them with more facts, figures, ratios, and stats, will not make the game any easier.

Yes, because not telling a newbie how much damage (or lack thereof) he'll be doing will of course make life easier for him. Are you guys afraid CCP will break something by adding a DPS display or what's up? Or is it just you'd rather have them fix your own pet peeve instead?

We have enough EFT-warriors as it is. We don't need to encourage their breeding.

I think if CCP added a DPS counter to the fitting screen the main problem is that it given the impression that you should be able to achieve that DPS regularly and reliably - whereas I think we can all appreciate that there are many different factors that cannot be worked out unless on the field. Do we take into account drones? If so, what about the time it takes to fly them to the target? Do we take into account reloads? But what if you kill them before you needed to reload? What happens if a ship has multiple ranged guns? At what range would you determine that stats for the damage - you can't be optimal on all of them at once.
It's a nice idea, but in reality, it would give too many wrong ideas; especially to new players who may interpret it as the be-all and end-all of their damage output. If you want to work out your DPS, there are already a ton of 3rd party tools to do it.
