This topic has probably come up on several occasions, but I don't think I've seen anyone talk about it for some time. Does anyone think CCP will eventually add dual monitor support in EVE? I feel this could benefit many players who use multiple monitors, as it'll help remove some of the clutter that can build up while playing.
Still a nay from CCP on this one? _________________________________________ Support the "Seed Primae on the market and ORE LP Stores" proposal! Click here |

Some day... and they will also fix bugs, lags and stuff, but not sooner than start making at least 1984985 expansions a year

I thought they already did? I've seen players with screenshots using 3 monitors.

You can use multiple monitors using ATI's EyeFinity. I'm running 3 and it's impressive.

Intriguing stuff. So does the entire game window take up both screens? Or does the main window take up one monitor and I can drag extra windows and such to the secondary monitors? _________________________________________ Support the "Seed Primae on the market and ORE LP Stores" proposal! 1x3 + 1 here. Working fine. Get a Radeon or GeForce card. Both support it in their drivers.

It'd be nice if when using just two monitors, you could have it full screen across both and not have your ship cut in half by the edge of the screens. Maybe CCP can find a way to allow players to change the default position for the camera, so your ship is not always dead center of the screen.

How's your performance? That's windowed right? I know the client suffers horribly if part of a window is not on the adapter you assign it to...how did you manage to get it to work correctly?

In the vid of last year's FanFest presentation they have shown EVE running on three screens. Obviously this could have been staged with EyeFinity or fancy stuff like that.... who knows.

I'd like the ability to use smaller monitors to put all my chat windows in etc.
I seen a nice diagram that had the chat windows in a different window all together than the main client.
This would be a major (and actually well welcomed) improvement, and free up a lot of space for the massive clutter of a combat UI. ------

This.
I don't feel that dual-screens are very well supported until I have the option to not cut my ship in half. I know it doesn't affect much practically, but it irritates the crap out of me. :P
I'd use it if I could put my ship on one screen and my mountain of UI on the other.
I doubt it will happen before I cave in and just buy a third monitor. ____________________ Captain Muscles sez:

I'm pretty sure I saw dual monitors in a video and they said they were going to patch it into the real game at some point unless I'm getting my games mixed up.

I see no drop in performance at all, It was a bit tricky but in the Nvidia control panel I added a custom resolution (max Horizontal res. of both monitors added together to give me my span, and then just the lowest of the monitors vertical) the set it as active resolution. For me it was 3600 x 1050
Now this get a bit difficult, some monitors wont allow resolutions beyond certain aspects, but if your main will it will look really weird if set to this resolution on the main monitor. Go ahead and leave it for the time being. Launch eve and if you can read it adjust it to the max custom setting you currently have the monitor set to. So now the monitor and eve are set to 3600 x 1050. Leave eve open and reset the monitor back to default setting. When applied eve will still look weird this is ok. Now restart eve and its setting should be still 3600 x 1050 even thought the main monitor now is 1920 x 1080 and the second monitor is is max defaults also (this forces eve onto the second monitor and for the entire horizontal span) then I use Evewinhelper (its somewhere in this forum) to set to full screen and it should work. Atleast thats how I did it with Nvidia Control Panel.

That's quite an interestng technique, I might have to see if I can do something similar with my ATI card.

People don't seem to understand, what people are asking for, when the question is about multi-monitor-support. Stretching the screen over multiple monitors is not what we're talking about, but something like this -> Real Multi Monitor Support
First screen with the ship UI and sidebar, possibly overview and the second screen for all the chat-windows, market-windows etc...

This would be so incredibly excellent! I'd get a small 10 inch screen with touch sensor for the overview.

Exactly, this is what I want. Although the stretched version looks very good too IMO but what you have here is what I really want...

I ve been reading and writing suggestions about this for soon to be seven years. Admittedly, way back then, it wasnt such a hawt topic cus of the hardware people had then.
CCP is in no hurry IMPROVING their client functionality/UI, they are busy churning out expansions with new, shiney, yet halfbaked content which they refuse to bugfix or iterate on.
Sorry, theres no comfort to give but rumours and up-in-the-air claims that have been made at this fanfest or that fanfest.
Be happy to play on the kit you are playing on today and rejoice when CCP announce something with substance officially.
I do hear tho that CCP will be including support for Alienware blinky-blinky keyboards that can blinky-blinky to ingame events.
Now, thats what I call blinky-blinky!

So, I can't use my 2nd monitor to keep all my info boxes close thus cleaning up my primary display for a clean flight simulation because CCP does not support this. Right?
Not trying to sound too dumb here but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something before I give up on it.

What version of the Nvidia drivers are you using? when I try to do the same, it just yells at me telling me that my monitor won't support that resolution.. duh...
I am trying to get it to run at 3360x1050, btw. GTX-275, Win7 x64

Yeah it would be nice if it had dual monitor support like a lot of software out there has. I'm not talking about spanning it across multiple monitors like it does now but more like what photoshop does. For that I have my main graphics window on my 26 in widescreen and all the toolbars and menus on my 2nd smaller 20 in. I'm not sure if there are any games out there that have support like that though, just be nice to do with eve.
Be cool option for those of us with multiple monitors that are not all the same size.
