What prevents the big alliances from rolling through low sec with cap fleets and picking off the little crap corp POS'es? Aside from the obvious of it being strategically dangerous and a bit of a pain to have to come back later and finish off POS'es that were reinforced - is it expensive somehow? It doesn't cost all that much to jump caps around and I guess the ammo is a bit pricey but is that enough to prevent them from having some fun shooting fish in a barrel?
I expect a lot of answers from people who have no idea what they're talking about so if you're actually an experienced cap pilot with hundreds of pos shoots under your belt wink twice.

Edited by: Musical Fist on 12/07/2010 14:14:38 Major alliances DO this, but the moons must hold value in order for the alliance to give a ****
Players in the alliance convince themselves they are having fun (lol) while the alliance leader(s) drains all the moon goo
Hmm looks like people are convinced this doesnt happen tell you what hit me up in game, theres a **** load of moons in low sec that belong to major alliances. --

I'm no expert in 0.0 alliances (being a loving cuddly carebear with barely three months under his belt), but I would think that the reason alliances don't steamroll little guys is money.
It's always money.
Why expend time (which could be earning you money) spending money to destroy something that isn't going to get you much of anything?
Hm. Do POSes drop loot? Dunno. Might be able to put up a POS where the old one was, sure, but you can only manage so much territory before you spread yourself thin.

nothing does at all thats why Pandemic Legion can hot drop like they do.. But large alliances are not interested in Low Sec space as such it holds no value, but killing a nice cap ship has some kudos :)

Lowsec moons are generally used for logistics, research/indy closer to out of corp/alliance freighter alts, and the valuable moons as the gentlemen from Hydra noted. Large null sec alliances are not as interested in lowsec, but to say they hold no interest and find it worthless is a ill-informed claim.

Yep, when IT formed from the ashes, one of their early moves was to go snatch a ****ton of R64's in lowsec from small corps and alliances to bring the cash rolling back in.

Whoever said money is absolutely right.
If a "big alliance" has not steam rolled your little corp yet, it is because so far it has not been worth it for them to do so.
It does not get much simpler = )

Edited by: Danny Lonnegan on 13/07/2010 02:50:47 Structure bashing is boring and everyone hates it. Even if you get a bunch of dreads to do it, it's still a pita to get the fleet assembled (including support; sending capitals in without a support fleet is tantamount to self-destructing them) and in position. And you have to do it twice for every POS. It's not worth doing unless the lowsec moon is really valuable or the lowsec corp has made such a nuisance of itself that you want to break all their stuff in retaliation.
