I lost a PI structure (out of sight) and can't find it anymore on the planet. I spent 2h searching the entire planetary surface but I can't find one extractor (I guess it's an extractor). Additionally I spent 1h searching this forum for someone else who had the same problem. But I didn't find a similar posting.
My Command Centre (CC) tells me I have 22 structures on this planet but I only find 21 (including the CC). Additionally my power consumption is exactly 800 too high, so I am missing either an extractor or a basic industrial facility.
Now maybe some asks himself why on earth did you place an extractor somewhere thousands of kilometres away from your CC (because then I could use the "home" button) and then forget where you put it?!?! The answer is simple, I tried to find better spots to harvest as my skill in Planetology and Advanced Planetology improved. I found a better place and put one extractor there to try if this really improves the outcome. Right after placing it I pressed the "submit" button and the game hung up. I got disconnected after approx. 1 min and after logging in again I couldn't find the building anymore but obviously the game remembered that I placed one structure.
I would really love to write a petition but due to several other problems I am experiencing with EVE I can't. I already have two (wow, what an amount) open petitions and can't place another one.
If someone knows how to solve this problem despite from "try looking really hard to find the structure" this would be great!
My personal suggestion for the EVE programmers would be to introduce either a button to search for buildings / inactive buildings or to introduce a button "destroy all buildings on this planet" similar to the "self-destruction" button in a spacecraft.
Feel free to share your thoughts about this and perhaps a possible solution.

Go to scan in the planet view, select a abundant resource, move the rainbow slider to the left until everything is white. Now you have a nice white background to look for your black rimmed extractor. Good luck! -------- All I want is a better mankind.

Thanks for the idea, I tried that already.

I think you are just stuck searching for it as I ended up in the same situation and even forgot I had the extractor in the first place for a long time. It would be nice if they gave you a list view mode that lets you manage structures from a flat list instead of a globe since you should only really need the globe for survey and setup purposes.

Putting that list somewhere in the Command Center UI would give a bit of purpose to that particular structure.
