We've all been at PI for a while now and I think itĘs safe to say that PI is indeed terrible, terrible, terrible. Therefore, I'm starting this thread with a view to generating a wish list of features we would like to see implemented/ changed in order to push PI over the line from terrible to barely tolerable.
Just your preferred wishes gentlemen, this is not a discussion thread about those wishes or indeed on how you manage PI.

1.) Multi-selection and scanning of extractors. In fact, a short-cut key to select all idle extractors on a planet and scan for deposits.
2.) At-a-glance table to be pulled up for each planet listing all extractors and processors, what they are doing and time to depletion. Could be more useful for large numbers of advanced processors and hi-tech processors.
3.) Remove all power and cpu requirements for links. This was the most terrible of all the terrible ideas in PI. It automatically ruins the ability to create any sort of PI network in favour or a blob of pins in one spot. Truly terrible.

Can we have the button in the top right of the regular dialogues added to the PI info dialogues. The one that allows for the window to have a solid background, sometimes I just can't read the text, esp on lava planets.

Edited by: Desert Ice78 on 14/07/2010 17:06:11 Thought of another one:
4.) The ability to halt currently running extraction processes and re-scan. Honestly how hard can this be?
Me: "you men, stop that extraction process" My minions: "no" Me: points a loaded gun "lets try that again..."

5.) Interplantary router. Advanced skills and structure for installing the above which will allow you to connect the networks of planets in the same system, thereby moving materials between planets automatically using routes as we do on planets.

Medium and Large extractors (the current ones being Smalls), less pins to fiddle with to extract the same quantity of resources.

Lets also keep in mind that Dust 514 is going to have a rather significant impact on PI.
I haven't had a chance to get into PI yet really but I definitely think moving away from blobbed extractors is a good thing. What about no CPU or Power cost for the first X amount of the link and then costs accrue after that? This would encourage diversified and sprawling networks without letting things get crazy without costing you efficiency.
Can't really say I disagree with any of the proposed UI changes in this thread either. Does the OP want to compile the list into the first post?

THIS!!
I think this is an excellent idea, which then sets up an NPC route to the planet (and would also take the time for the npc ship to travel their & back, etc).
I propose that each NPC route be given extra hull & armor, and be rather difficult to destroy, along with a convoy of defense frigates & cruisers. This way, they can theoretically be destroyed, but the risk/reward factor might lean heavily on the "more risk than reward". The goal here is to make npc destruction only viable during times of war, to interrupt a supply line.
Idunno - I'd like to see more NPC trade routes, and protection that travels with the convoy. Not to mention you get your PI materials from one planet to the other quite easily.
To implement this on the PI side, there could be a "multiple planet view" that lists all of your planets with info on what's on each, and those you're shipping to and from in a nice graphical layout.
Then again - I like to dream

a. Integrate PI with EVE gate. Let us start our extractors from any web browser.
b. Allow us to upgrade the command center without having to tear up everything in the planet.
c. Let us move the command center from one spot to another in the planet. Useful when yous witch production to something else and now the command center is nowhere close to the new production center.
d. Integrate PI with Incarna. Let us come down to the planet and actually walk around in the command center. Even better, when we are down there let us provide a boost to production.
e. How about defensive structures for when those pesky Dust 514 Mercs come down from orbit.
f. Allow us to hire "managers" who can boot production while we are NOT in the command center.
g. Allow new structures to help us boost powergrid and CPU (to place that one last processor).

My thing: integrate the basic processor functionality and theextraction to not make the raw materials but directly make the T1 material.

PI was developed the way most new content in Eve is... In an incredibly short cycle. Therefore it is low on features and downright sloppy at times.
What you are really asking for is a dev process that takes more time to refine and polish a product before including it in the game. This is a CCP management issue... GL getting anything.

They could make PI 1,000,047 times better than it is now by implementing one tiny change!
Ffs move the stupid PI button from out of the middle of the ship control buttons on the Selected Item toolbar so that those of us who are not in the remotest bit interested in the worst SimCity clone since Pong are not constantly having to avoid launching it by accident.
Or give us the ship control keybindings that we've been asking for for the last 7 years.
Or better still give us a command line option that runs the client without any PI related stuff loaded at all.
That is all.

My idea is to scrap current PI and start over with actually something interesting ... oh wait there are no DEVS available for another 18 months ...

I agree to that bit certainly. NPC convoys between stations are too weak also (I used an Iteron MKIV and destroyed a convoy with a single beam laser i added on to it) and convoys between planets would need to be able to repel small raids. I would love to see interplanetary convoys too and not just ones hauling between player owned colonies.

And another one...
6.) Remove the different levels of CC's. Have only one Command Center available on the market, and thereafter, you may upgrade you CC with power modules and cpu modules according to your Command Center Upgrades skill level.
Once again, kind of bloody obvious...
