Any chance of 1) Sorting folder and note names alphabetically 2) Right clicking a note and say move to folder. I say this as with 49 notes and 8 folders, it's almost to the point I can't move a note to a folder I want from the All Notes folder... 3) Extend character limit to a note (not so essential as others) Maybe this is going to be addressed in the upcoming release?

Well since notes are one of those features that not many people care about nor do they make much a fuss about it doubt it. But if you ask a dev nicely and it's easy to implement then sure. The Drake is a Lie |

They are extremely useful. Great to create links to useful articles. Then if people ask in chat about stuff, you can just drag link into chat window. i use them lot for thinsg like missions/agents/faction counting, planning skills for ships I am interested in, things of this nature too. A way to remember conversations you've had about obscure gameplay issues. |

BTW: There is also a bug that if you don't close note window down before logging off, new folders you add during your session disappear. Also the assignment of notes to a folder gets forgotten about - so all your attempts to adminster go down the toilet. Just have to remember - you don't lose content thank heavens though! I try and make a habit of closing window down every time I've added a new folder or assigned a note to a folder to circumvent this. But there have beeen times I've forgottten and paid the price! |

I have a note for every player ship in the game, named after the ship. These notes are stored in a folder for each letter of the alpha bit, so they are grouped by first letter of ship name.
The ability to alphabetize notes and folders would be huge for me.
I'd also appreciate the ability to relocate notes in their folders, because it was a huge pain in the ass to do when I created these notes and if I need to reorganize, it would be extremely helpful.
Other thing I noticed, if I Delete a note in a created folder, it does not delete it from all notes, could we make this happen too? "The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems." |

To clarify. The right-click context menu only has delete as an option in the All Notes folder. When a note is in a custom folder, you only have remove as an option - so the note then only resides in the big bucket 'All Notes'. Having delete in the custom folder would be fine by me too - as long as there is some sort of confirm dialog. |

I think the reason people don't use the in-game notes and folders is because they are not really integrated into anything. You don't NEED to use them for anything.
I'm not suggesting we change this, but they really are just made for you to use like a sticky note. Write something down so you remember it next week, or you can look back like a Log of sorts.
But, I have my own notebook on my desk that I keep track of things with. If my clients takes a poop, that doesn't go with it. SEE YOU IN 319 STATION!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!! |

They are integrated with the game - not like your desktop notes - so easier drag and drop. Descriptive links rather than ugly URL's are more helpful to drag into conversation dialog. |

- Planning skills training for all ships I am interested in.
- I also use them a lot for things like faction storyline mission counting. With links to locations/agents and time I can go back to a more profitable agent in lower sec system, using the expiration time I've notated after the double declining period has expired.
- Noting how sales in various stations have gone. Whether there were price wars, volumes sold.
1) There are logs for that? Try using this once a week to keep logs clean so it's easy to find archives http://code.google.com/p/evelogconcatenator/
2) Personally I just use my out of game browser... I play in fixed window so alt-tabs are easy....and I use two screens
3) EVEMon much?
4/5) Now these sound like decent reasons to use a Notepad....tho 5 could be done in a spreadsheet I guess hehe
Not saying I'm against fixes for the Notepad, just saying some of the things you use it for have some apps or processes already made for them :P The Drake is a Lie |

I would use them more, except my Eve interface is cluttered enough and I can shove notepad behind my Eve window when I'm not using it.

I guess i prefer to stay in game rather than flip apps all the time. The only time I flip is when I use Eve Market to select regions as the crummy in game browser does not work properly on a Mac with thier website when selecting multiple regions for trade routes. |

That's what tab groups are for. I have overview and other things at top right - Journal Cargo, Wallet, People & Places. in left-middle I have group with mail, assets, market,Notepad all as tabbed pages in one pane. at left bottom I have all the chat channels tabbed.
If I go into low sec I'll double click middle left title to minimise it all to a strip. |

would also be great if you could semi-automate some intelligence gathering activities with the notes. For example, right clicking on someone's name and adding it to a note with a timestamp or adding the time stamped note to the character Notes tab. Anything to make intel gathering notes easier to manage. |

Talking of automating - would be good to see when you look at a faction's info tab, the count of missions completed per division. Or better still a factional sumamry dashboard with factions one axis, divisions in another and count in cells. Which is one of things I do now manually with notes - especially as I sometimes have to double decline missions for a corp because of a lot of killing going on in low sec where I am being instructed to go. So I switch corps or agents, then go back to main one in 4 hours time. When you look at Journal -> Missions have another column saying ok to decline again - (since 4 hrs has passed) - and yet another with security status where agent resides. |

That's epic. I am going to have to use that. As someone with years worth of logs in multiple channels saved in that folder, I can barely open the folder anymore. I only wonder how I never thought of writing a script to do this beforehand ...
I'm not sure if I'll use their log cleaner or write my own, but I'll be using something, that's for sure. |

I've been using this evelogconcatenator for years now and it works great, it even will add files to an existing "channel-month" file
Just run it a few times a month to make sure it doesn't get too wild. On the first run you'll prob wanna leave it run for a few hours.... The Drake is a Lie |
