Edited by: Netzvamp on 21/07/2010 15:08:10 Edited by: Netzvamp on 21/07/2010 15:07:47 A idea that came while drinking a good german beer and talking about eve
Why not introduce a mobile wormhole generator module. The "Mobile Wormhole Generator" generats a wormhole (oh realy? ) from your ships position to an random system near yours.
Optional usefull restrictions:
- Wormhole end always a bit away, i.e. minimum 3 ly from current system, cause it's boring to end in the system 1 stargate away - Targetsystem is only a 0-sec or lowsec, cause this is a pvp-idea ;) - Wormholes are one-way-wormholes, you can use this wormhole only in one direction - Wormhole is maximum i.e. 5-10 ly away, so you aren't that far away from home
The module should need Strontium or Liquid Ozone as fuel (good for some special cargoholds). I think there is no need for a timerestriction like cynogenerators, a small fleet should be fast moveable for more fun and action.
Why is this idea usefull?
- You appear without any intel for the enemy in local, so he can't bring 100 ships to blob your 10 ships out - This would be a nice buff for small-scale-pvp only, cause you can set a maximum shipmass for the wormhole. The fleet has to think about "Many small ships or less big ships" - EVE could be more dynamic with that. You rat/mine/plex and there is more danger, cause you are in 0.0, thats not the empire - You can simply disappear with your small fleet, no need for a dirty logoffski - You don't know where you land, it's an adventure
I think there are a lot of Pro's/Con's about that feature but i like it very much. It sounds like heavy fun
So, what you think about it?

Edited by: coolruningc on 21/07/2010 19:10:35 Its a good Idead but I don't think ccp would allow it just yet, For excample you could active one near jove space and start nabbing T5 stuff so may be it will come in the near fuather.

They have to use just the current system with the normal wormholes. If you are in the wormholespace, you never get a wormhole to Jovespace for now I think there are already enought mechanics implemented to restrict the random systems ...

This idea has potential, and it's random nature will prevent it from being abused (to much)
I support fleshing this out more.

What about the notion of an 'unstable wormhole' generator. This would be a module for capital ships/titans but essentially it would create an unstable wormhole (a mini-eve gate) that would suck enemy ships toward it and destroy them.

You've been watching too much Farscape. The titan superweapon is good enough for the time being, no need for more death and destruction in Capitals Online.
That being said, I like the idea. It sounds awesome to have a "Wormhole Generator" module for this effect. Maybe only allow Blackops ships to use and add some usability there as well :P

You're right, the titan has enought power, so a Blackops is much better for that. At moment a blackops is a very rarely used ship and the wormhole generator could change that...
And yes, there are some details to point out, but hey, CCP has some Gamedesigners with big brains
I hope that someone from CCP think about that idea ...

Would require a new ship class. Wouldn't be fair to have all ships to have it. Maybe a frigate / cruiser for mobility.

Realy great idea, would be a good starting point for promotion of small Gang Warfare

Not so sure about this one as it seems too much like a titan jumpdrive with 2 way travel, no cyno need, and the ability to fit on a smaller much cheaper ship with a random exit being the only downside. And as many gangs don't care who they gank as long as ganking is done I don't even know if the randomness is that big of a downside. Just seems that opening up an ability that is reserved for the largest, most expensive ships in game and giving it to a ship that half the players in game have the sp and isk for is a little over the top.

You all should check out the IGS and Fiction forums. It appears that the Sansha have some kind of worm hole control. Even an escape pod flown by one of their actors generated a worm hole and exited a system. These worm holes are called "violent wormholes" and unlike the unstable wormholes found now, nobody has been able to enter one.
The theory so far per the fiction and role playing forum is that the Sansha nation got some kind of worm hole tech from either the sleepers or the Jove (and this could be heavily tied into the back story of Eve).
Check it out and you might start to wonder if the suggestion in this thread is actually going to happen.
