As if a bunch of players deciding it is fun to gank every Hulk in site was a good thing for EVE. Now it appears that it is a good/fun thing to greef anyone playing stuff they just gave us in the last release. Thanks, makes me want to persue playing with the new Planetary Interaction Career. I can see it now gankers parked at every Planetary Customs Office. Good job, way to kill the latest release content.
What can be more fun than blowing up ships with Planetary Interaction products in their cargohold? Not much, according to Battleclinic, who are running a giveaway over the next few days in which pilots can earn EVE Store credit for ship kills.
[Inuoe, The Forge] BattleClinic announced today that it will help spur the Planetary Interaction markets today with a new contest. Prizes galore! In cooperation with CCP, BattleClinic will be giving away four $50 coupons to the EVE Store. To be eligible for a prize, capsuleers simply need to prove theyÆve destroyed loot produced on planets.

Yes because the primae is the greatest ship for moving PI goods around, oh wait it isn't :P
I foresee farming as they don't specify a minimum value so farming an alt in cheap frigs with 1 unit of PI goods in its cargo is viable :) Rally Against Evil Site |

I don't see those coupons on the EVE store, it appears they're not for sale for the normal consumer. This may mean that CCP's cooperation (as Battleclicic mentions it) or sponsering (as you say) is nothing more than them selling 4 coupons at $200 to Battleclinic. Don't read too much into it.

It doesn't matter if the assistance given is $200 of coupons or releasing a prisoner held in one of Her Majesty's prisons, when an organisation decides to sell itself like this it stinks.

Oh undoubtedly. The customs as an obvious bottleneck thing is a bit crappy; at least gates have guns and aggro considerations etc. Not allowing freighters to take advantage of their thicker hulls and pick up from them sucks too. But hey, it all adds to the mix. Buy a transport ship or get your corp mates to form an escort. HTFU etc.
Whoring resources is always more fun when someone is trying to blow you up, no? That said, to be frank, this whole fad in EVE of announcing a culling quota on any particular group of carebears is rather tiresome. Who needs a reason to grief? Get on with it already! Its surely a sign of an increased sense of identity among an element within EVE tho. This is good. Its what EVE is about and if it makes more people twig that an online game where competition is not only allowed, but encouraged, is on the whole eminently preferable to the droll bore-fests of CCP's competitors then, frankly, that's A-OK by me.
At the end of the day pretty much all elements of this game boil down to a fundamental contest of wits and if the 'bad' guys (for arguments sake) are outnumbering and/or co-operating more than the 'other' group of players to achieve something, in EVE, they generally 'win'. That's just the way it ought to work out. If said group kicks seven bales out of the other because they are incapable of social interaction or of organizing themselves in any way to the contrary, changing the game mechanics or tipping the scales to redress the balance would be totally wrong.
I hope these violent interludes go some way toward encouraging a few more single serving, multi boxing basement dwelling fellows among the high sec population of 'franken-alts' to grasp this singular and perpetually elusive core principle of a multi player game. Fly safe!

^^ This. The McVeigh/Osama bin Laden/Unabomber method of Spreading the Word via Active Political Discourse, Extreme Evangelizing, and/or "Read My Manifesto Or Else!" techniques is time proven and just makes sense for a hyper-competitive game like Eve.

Then three weeks later, sponsers an event to GANK anyone who has taken them up on their offer of a simple NEW PLAYER experiance in the world of EVE.

Yes? The sooner new players come in contact with the PvP nature of EVE, the better.
Also, PI is still more of a "new [player experience]" than a "[new player] experience", and as time goes by, it'll become more and more concentrated to dedicated oldtimers who can balance their productions and play the markets right to produce useful margins, so it'll cease to be either of those twoà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

And as time goes by and CCP has 60,000 players who have gone out and bought PS3 systems to play Dust514 to defend these PI installation belonging to your corp - how are you going to explain to them that in the world of EVE their entire play area has been destroyed by a large corp of buttwhip mercs and untill their EVE corp can rebuild PI structures they will have no place to play DUST.
Unless they wish to use their EVE characters in the multiple WARDACS which will most certainly occur. This is no longer a big sandbox where you can play as you wish - it is a sandbox where you play as the sandbox bullys denand you lose.

How would one lead to the other? As far as it has been described so far, in Dust, you're a merc corp taking offers from EVE corps to wipe out the holdings of some other EVE corp. If the kind of mass warfare you describe is going on, then there will be plenty of offers for the Dust players. The only way for there to be "no place to play Dust" would be if you chose not to take any of the outstanding contracts.

You seem under the impression that the Primae is the one and THE only ship to move PI goods around. You must never EVER undock with a normal industrial and warp to a planet. If you do that, some freakish space-time distortiion will eat it. The Primae is the only last best hope for your PI goods.
