No but breaking the PCU record implies that the game is getting better and better when it's actually getting worse and worse.
This is the wrong kind of message to send and it makes me sick if the CCP guys play these "yay together well make it" crap games. If you want "togetherness" then provide the god-damn game in a decent manner and fix gamebreaking technical issues before you let the marketing noobs out of their cage and let them take the helm.
QFT
Yay lets all log-in our alts so CCP can start pumping out more press releases to pull in some more mugs, to a game they seem desperate to abandon

hey think about what you just said.
anyway it wasnt just new players it was older ones with data core savings that came back.............for a while. or they injected the market with said stuff.

Same goes for WoW, once it sounded interesting and was aimed at an older audience, not they aim it at the 10+ year olds and for some reason dumb it down acordingly.
I've always had the mind set of "make something difficult and expect everyone to try harder" rather than "dumb things down to the lowest level"
And that, to me, feels like the way eve's going.
But then I grew up on the NES and loved battletoads when it came out, so what do I know.
Basically, business/sales/middle management/marketing departments are the worst thing to happen to a beautiful game in my mind.
**** middle management and their ****ish quarterly objective bull****. Let the ones that love the game drive it and have middle management there purely to make sure they don't skitt from feature to feature and actually make things work properly.
Screw "release dates" CCP set them anyway, just have a rolling release where new, interesting content is released along side fixed etc as and when it's ready. Out moded concept that they are with mmos anyhow.
If you have a canceled sub, then why are you still here whining? Seriously, go the **** away. CCP likely has no interest in your dime-store business advice.

Fix lag and the other numerous incomplete and broken issues and more people would stay past the trial, which would mean more people on line. Oh. Wait. Can't do anything about keeping those new players for another 18 months...

I'm relatively neutral towards Incarna itself.
But I do -pray- CCP will have a major server upgrade ready for the likely player-influx that'll cause.
EDIT: Lol, typo.

Will in 18 months do?
QFT. if eve breaks the latest PCU record before they restart major progress on eve, i will lose ALL faith in humanity, as CCP will have proven that we are simply sheep to be herded, and our voices matter not.
if not, then we can all have our bitter righteousness as we say "I TOLD YOU DUST WOULDNT HELP" 2 years from now. i actually fly amarr |

You need to understand that a game is a game is a game. You cannot expect 100% of the player population to cater to your own playstyle and desires. Think like a business person and not like a tweenager who has loads of time on his hands to spend gaming. The average person who enjoys MMO's today is in their 30's. This number is getting higher as years go on since pioneer online gamers are getting older. This means that a lot of gaming developers are shifting strategies to appease the majority and not the minority. Blizzard was the first to do this as they drastically transformed world of warcraft over the 6 years its been out. EVE has slowly been doing the same.
That arguement runs both ways, you cannot expect 100% of games to cater to your own playstyle and desires. The gaming community as a whole benefits from a wide variety of games catering to many niches in player-style. If every game gets ground down into some bland sterile paste to cater to the same demographic, then everyone looses; the players who no longer have any game that suits them, and the games who are all fighting for their own slice of one portion of the player base. Eve caters to a niche - rather than watering itself down to aim for the slice of the pie everyone else is fighting for, shouldn't it be shoring up its own domination of its unique niche?
And i find using the "30 y o gamer" arguement as a reason to dilute laughable. Its the 30 year old gamers who grew up on nails-hard early console and computer games which Eve most caters towards. It is them who will lose out by any dilution of the game to cater to short attension-span newer gamers. ------------------------------- Non Moritur Cuius Fama Vivat He Dies Not Whose Fame Survives |

That might actually happen again once you fix the damn game, until then keep dreaming! Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of facts. |

I find the attention span argument quite amusing as EVE is the most afk friendly game I know of.
Most games both old and new require quite a lot of attention. Players of 30+ years? Warcraft II is from 1995. Quake is from 1996. I can't remember that those games required so much patience and discouraged people with short attention spans tbh. Things like afk travelling for 30 minutes or afk mining for 20 minutes while doing nothing is more something very new than part of the old gaming tradition of the 1990s.

What record that would be? Most "Spital Distorted" (lagging) players on-line? I don't feel right calling in my friends to suffer as I do...

Are you sure?
I mean isn't this sort of like pouring gasoline on your best friend when he accidentally set his shirt on fire? Or are we ignoring the burns because the flashy fire is distracting us?
