I am the CEO of a small non-pvp corporation. We had war declared on us by another corporation. Many of my corps members have no interest in pvp. You have created a fine exploit for pirates to ply their craft in high security space. With no safe areas in the game many of my corp are contemplating quiting the game. The corps that attacked had many players that had just joined their corps. All of these players were of high level. This leads me to beleive that many players are jumping from corps to corps depending on the wars. This amounts to a legal exploit. If you are not going to allow a group of non pvp players to join the same corps and play the game with out fear of this roving band of pirates attacking them all the time, I fear you will lose a lot of avid gamers. There has to be a place in this game safe from this sort of exploit. Most of my corporation joined because we knew them from other games. Basically they joined eve at our request. If this exploit stays in place forty accounts will go elsewhere.

I know this sounds cold but.
EVE is a simulation of life, there are no safety boundries other than the cops. And with that this being the simulation it is, is what makes it fun for many people.
I suggest you talk to you corpmates and discuss on ways to adapt to the situation that has been presented to you. Just becuase someone has 10 million skill points, doesnt mean a newbie cant completly WTFOMGBBQ him.
Make yourselves harder targets. Dont be predictable. Know your enemy, dive into the PvP forums and learn how they do thier setups, how they operate so you can effectivly avoid or fight back.
Im telling you right now, you cant always run from those who would do you harm. Most times those guys arent looking to destroy everything you worked for, but rather looking to have a good clean fight with yea.
In the long run it will help you guys out. Trust me.

I assume you are a player pirate to adopt that stance. You stated that in real life there was some safety from the cops. In eve with this exploit in place any pirate can attack anyone they declare war on with the cops sitting around watching. There is no place a pirate cant go now. Real life is not this way. And that BS about a newbie being able to kill a player with 10 million skill points is another example of the side of an issue that a person with 10 million skill points would like newbes to beleive.

In keeping with the theme of this forum I would like to add my ideas to my message. If two corporations want to go to war they should both have to agree to the war before it becomes open season on killing anywhere in eve. Many of my corporation have alredy joined other corporations. We were having a pleasant gaming experience before this happened. This has ended that. I thought it would be enough if the rewards of venturing into low security space were enough to draw people there then they knew the dangers. That was a good plan for the game. This exploit allows any pirate a way to kill anywhere and it is not good for the game. Look out new players. There can be no small coporations in eve. The pirates will pick them off one by one.

It is a sad thing that an exploit like this so easily tears away what we work so hard and long to achieve. Not only the in game character aspects are affected, but in forcing the disbandment of a corporation, these pirates are effectively dispersing a community of friends who have come together from other games to help each other and share a like minded gaming experience with each other in the EVE Universe. It's not often that a MMORPG has a feature incorporated within it that allows for one group of people to enforce their will on others at their sole discretion with the end result of disbanding a community and pushing people from the game - now we have an example here.
All I can say is that if this sort of exploit is not recognized for what it is, that being a loophole for pirates to openly attack other players in high security space with no faction hit, then I will be promptly cancelling my 3 accounts in favour of a place where I CAN ENJOY my gaming experience with friends unacosted by those who would attempt to ruin it for everyone.

What really has irritated me about this group of renegades jis how they try and justify use of an exploit by saying that they know we are pretty much defencless, so they are trying to teach us a lesson about how we play the game - and have the gall to think that we should thank them for it.
How we play the game should be just that, how WE play the game - if these guys want to make and produce thier own game, then they can make the rules for everyone and cheat as much as they want. (but if it's anything like the way they play this game, I can't see them selling many copies)
I will be forced to cancel my accounts if this exploit is not resolved - I can't justify paying to be treated like a target pigeon by a bunch of pirates to lazy, or maybe too afraid to go against players who are prepared for PvP combat in security sectors where that type of play is more welcome.

They're just declaring war on you. Not a big problem.
If they are shifting corporation to avoid the war, petition them and they'll get warned/banned.
Also; you ask for a safe area. There are many safe areas. They're called NPC corporations. No one can declare war on you in them. I know it sounds harsh, but when you started your own corporation, you permitted people to declare war on you (wether you like it or not). That's how eve works.
If you're threatening to quit because the people ganking you are changing corps a lot, petition, and don't quit. If you're threatening to quit because you're getting wasted all the time, quit. This game is not for you.

TBH if your so quick to throw in the towel because someone declared war on you this game is not for you and maybe the rest of the community is better off without you and your corp.
A good deal of the content in Eve is PvP related, you will encounter it again and again. You will have wars delcared on you again, you will get shot at. Its a harsh game. Please remember that ships in Eve also fit guns (yes mining laser are removable!) - those guns are for shooting stuff, including you.
So either : - - Leave the game - Fight or avoid them - STFU

To avoid pirate corporations and alliances to declare war on you you should join an alliance by yourself, this makes it alot harder to declare war on you than when alone. There are or will be some alliances that exist just to protect corporations like yours.
Read this for more info: http://www.eve-online.com/features/exodus/war/
IMHO the war declaration system is a little out of order, CONCORD should protect innocents and keep corporations safe in empire space unless they specificly agreed to that they dont want to be protected or that CONCORD should not interfere with the warring between two corps. I dont see why its enough for one corp to declare war.
I think CCP wants to make money, that is that as many players players subscribing as possible, then they have to split the game into one PvP and one carebear (if you want) part. switching between as they want. That way BOTH groups will stay, wich should be good for CCP.

Asshat...
I wonder how long CCP will sit idle and allow this kinda crap to happen...
Clear case of EVE vets who can't hack real PVP, make a new corp to grief low skilled players (defenceless) because they are bored...
Nice honorable way to show their true griefer colors...
They must be real proud of their 133t PvP skills as well...

Why? Because posts like this are damageing to the game. He tries to blackmail CCP into changeing the game mechanics to suit his corp when I don't think he truely understands the full mechanics of the game. There are plenty of ways to deal with the issue in game, but he resorts to out of game black mail - spoilt!
Every time some empire based corp get a war declared on them we get the CEO posting that his corp are quitting but they never do.

Cry me a river. I've have been in such noob corps, my old corp was declared on 4-5 by 'Merc Corps', some of my corp cried on the forums about it (also giving the enemy our names BTW) - some ran, some left the corp, some of us stood and fought. Those of us that fought lost some frigates (omg 250k funny money lost), and we got some kills. Those that ran could merrily mine veldspar in peace. Most importantly we learned alot about PvP and we had alot of fun. In the end it was obvious we were out skilled, we bit the bullet and moved into 0.0. Overall that 'omg griefer war' was good for our corp. Try it you might like it.

Edited by: Spit on 20/12/2004 12:10:44 Evilspawn, reading your comments I want to correct you on a few isues:-
Quote: The corps that attacked had many players that had just joined their corps. All of these players were of high level. This leads me to beleive that many players are jumping from corps to corps depending on the wars.
My corporation has no need to take onboard other players to assist in a war. We have had 3 new recruits in the last month, our posts in recruit channel will show what type of players we are seeking (miners as well as fighters).
As you know we have placed NO demands on you what-so-ever. We are seeking to gain PvP experience for our defence team in prepartion for our return to 0.0. We elected your corporation thinking that you were like minded, similar mining/manufacturing background to us. We wanted to give you the opportunity to adapt, learn and move forward within the game of EVE.
We have been through exactly the same scenario as your corp are experiencing atm but we have not disbanded or cried in the eve forums.
I have always been adapted a mature attitued to playing Eve. Taking me away from RL management and doing what I want in a virtual world.
When I take abuse in local chat from your members telling me to F*** O** and recieving hate mail, I draw the line Assuming you were all mature players and treating EVE as a game and not a business, how far from the truth was I
You will be probably glad to know that I "might" be retracting the war with your corp and let you all get on with it and hope for your sakes you dont encounter a serious merc/pirate corp that wont be as forgiving as me.
Appologies to all for posting personall affairs on eve-online.
