My initial plans are to become a salvage specialist, and use that skill to build and market rigs. In addition I could use my scanning skills to seek out and provide grav. sites to my corp. and provide rigs for my corp. for free and/or a salvage component agreement.
Now....reality hits. I guess the thing that frustrates me the most is the material efficiency research. I traveled to several locations and research slots were all filled GÇô avg. of no less then 24 days on any of them. Building doesn't seem as lucrative as nickel and diming by selling salvageable components. Agree or disagree? Any advise in regards to researching?
Just recently made my first med. Energy cap rig and sold it for 1,000,000. Soon after I calculated the cost resources to make 1,115,000isk. I was not happy! Efficiency I think is the key but why does it take so long!!!
Anyways, if you guys could clarify something else for me GÇô correct me if I'm wrong. When you sell something it goes to the highest bidder at THAT station. If there are no orders at that station then it goes to the lowest bidder of a buyer in the region who has trained in Supply Chain. So.. in theory... orders at station advantage seller.... orders in region advantage buyer. |

1. I do ME and PE research free on my idle slots if the collateral is under 500m, and the research time is less than a month.
Send me an EVE-mail with what you want researched and how much, then contract the BPO to me at any major trade hub (preferably Jita or Amarr, but I don't mind travelling to Rens or Dodixie). Set the amount for the NPC value of the BPO.
I try to keep my slots full, but I usually have slots becoming available almost daily.
2. You always sell to the highest available buy order, and buy from the lowest available sell order. Buy orders can cover a single station or an entire region. There is no priority other than price (example: a region buy order with a higher price has a higher priority than a station buy order with a lower price). The remote order skills are for trading at stations you are not currently located at. |

Also, did you train Production Efficiency skill to at least level 4? New to EVE? Don't forget to read: The Manual * The Wiki * The Career Options * and everything else |

A few quick tips:
1) Focus on small rigs at first. The material requirements are so low that you rarely need to do research on them to lower material requirements. This will also introduce you to the markets better and give you buffer time while you're researching Medium and Large Rig BPOs.
2) If you're not doing it yet, I'd recommend looking into Ninja Salvaging, particulary starting out. Depending on where you're located, you can probably find a LV4 Missioner who doesn't bother salvaging their missions and/or bot mission runners who don't salvage period. It's a pretty good way of getting large quantities of T1 Salvage fairly quickly. Note that the Noctis is usually less ideal for this purpose, particularly if you don't have wreck permissions (and thus no tractor beam).
3) I'd avoid, for the time being, trying to sell in large hubs. Hop out one region from major hub locations and try to find a heavy mission area, you should do better there. |

Be careful in your blueprint research.
I keep seeing people selling prints that have been researched far too much. 4 is pretty much all a medium rig needs (There may be exceptions) Large rigs, generally 20.
Doublecheck with a blueprint calculator (such as the one on the site in my sig ) to get an optimal number. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator, invention chance calculator, isk/m3 Ore chart-á and other 'useful' utilities. |
