ok, so one thing that bugs me is jumping between systems... it breaks up the gameplay to much... when your warping around in system everything feels like its one big place... but not when you jump to a new system... feels just like a new room...
How hard would it be to make it so that when you activated a gate it actually looked like it was shooting you to a new system? like a very quick jump. umm, or kinda like that show stargate. when they enter the gate they always have a thing of them travailing through space.
just saying, it would be bad ass...

So, stating a small problem or idea and then asking why things are the way they are is complaining... interesting. I didn't really think it was complaining... guess i was wrong.

I don't think I entirely get what you're requesting. Don't the gates already "shoot" you into the next system?

Yeah, I don't get why they thought you were complaining either.

I think that the OP is requesting is a in the bubble of System change Effect, like a fade from old system to new.... Maybe

I think the time to change between one system to another is dependant on how fast your computer/connection can load the next system.
I believe this makes it hard to provide a 'seamless' transition.
All MMOs that I have played have some type of 'zone change'.

Well I guess CCP could put some fancy (and probably annoying) 'shooting through the space' animation like warping only 100x faster or something, instead of the system loading progress bar, but that would't change anything... sense of truly seamless world we lack would stay as it is.

It is realistic. The travel is almost instant so you wouldn't see anything anyway. The loading bar makes it more entertaining. |

k, thats what ive been wondering. i didn't know if it was a client based load or a server based one. I wonder if it could be done by imposing a minimum load time or something like that... and I know nothing will ever come of this...

That's because EVE is not sharded but at the same time is also not a seamless world (and CCP don't claim it to be either). Basically each solar system is like it's own instance/shard/server with no player limit on it and each person can only interact (directly) with their current instance/shard. To be able to effect anything (directly) in a different instance/shard/server you need to session change to it.
The only "cross-instance" interaction are simple things like the market (which work across multiple of these "instances").
I do agree that it totally destroys any kind of immersion. But that also counts for the constant "session change already in progress" or "wait while you smack talk" if you move yourself in a fleet etc. It breaks the flow of the game and makes it feel very clunky.
But there are many other things in EVE that are a lot more disturbing (for example the unplayable fleet lag) so I doubt anyone at CCP will pay any attention to this thread. Especially now that their focus has shifted away from providing a good game and towards milking as much money out of the market as possible.
