Frerstorn Bottom Station
Quick points of goals: - One stop capital hub - One stop 0.0 logistics hub - Provide goods to the local Faction Warfare participants - Connect Investors, Retailers, Manufactures and Jump Freighter pilots seeking opportunity.
Capital Hub/Logistics It is an enormous hassle to fly around and collect capital modules and fighters/fighter bombers because of their massive size. There's enormous potential in eliminating this headache, and we should be able to clear several combat ready capitals, fully fit and fueled, at any given time. We should also focus on making 0.0 logistics easier by placing buy orders for ice/ore for Rorquals/JFs. The goal here is for 0.0 alliances to be able to jump in, quickly buy/sell what they need and move back out without dealing with carting the goods to high sec.
Faction War / Pirate Customers The locals in the area know how to handle themselves and will have no problem using this station as their market hub. The Amarr militia in particular currently has the problem of not really having a market hub nearby. While this isn't perfect because its behind the Minmatar front lines, its still better than facing the NPC faction police in other nearby hubs. So many destroyers, cruisers, and battle cruisers have sold from Frerstorn that we can't really keep it stocked. Where: Frerstorn VII û Moon 1 û Ishukone Corporation Factory This station was chosen because it has a large bump radius, and is safe to bring capitals in and out of as any station can be. Its a bit off the beaten path as far as access to 0.0 goes so as to not play any favorites with nullsec politics. All services are available at this station, including cloning. Frerstorn currently has 200 manufacturing slots, all currently open.
The situation around Metropolis low sec is not pretty - it is surrounded by some of the most violent pirate corps around. The route from Resbroko to Hek is often camped, as is the route to Rens through Amamake. Avenod to Dodixie is not camped, but if traffic picks up it very well could be. On the bright side, if the militia is in local you can be safer than if you were in high sec. Experienced pilots know many ways to get through and around gate camps, and most (including me) would be glad to let you know some tips/tricks.
Remember: for a low sec hub to be successful we all need to focus on one station. The bottom station - Frerstorn VII û Moon 1 û Ishukone Corporation Factory. Typing ôfrerö into your auto link will bring up the correct system.
Where to start: If you have products you want to sell, toss them into a blockade runner or a courier contract and bring them on down. If you are looking for business partners, post an ad here. Examples: ôInvestor looking for Investment Corporation.ö ôBuilder seeking Investorsö ôJump Freighter Pilot For Hireö
Once again: Frer û bottom station.

It's not a bad idea but not sure if the location is really optimal. As far as Amarr not having access to a market hub.. Most Amarr FW members the last time I checked the area, were living in Tuomota or Huola and that's very easy access to the Amarr trade hub.
This would be further away from them, but it would still be nice to have access to supplies in the area, so GL with it.

---- I'd think a nullsec sov'n holder with strong systems defense and NRDS have a better chance if they care to invest in a system for this purpose. Ideally it is one of the a highsec-Null connecting system that lets everyone to get to the station safely with one camp on the gates and in front of undock. The NRDS doesn't need to extend across the alliance, just the trade system itself.

You got the wrong impression if you think this is specifically for the Amarr militia. This is a spot that is easily accessible from the East, South and West. We are opening a supply chain to major resources. In doing so we do plan to provide goods to the faction war participants. I have talked with some of your more aggressive comrades in the Amarr militia who believe that being able to resupply in Minmatar space without having to go into high sec or fall back to Amarr high sec would be to the Amarr advantage. Really that point could be argued either way.
What we are not going to do is open up a hub that favors anyone to the point of cutting entire groups of people off, this is why Frerstorn was chosen.

Huola would be a terminally brain dead place to put a market hub. So would Auga, Amamake, and Rancer. Frerstorn is just enough off the beaten path that I expect it to actually work.

Overwhelmingly, this would be a waste of time. The only thing you could hope to do is hope to kill someone before the jump timer wore off (30 seconds). You better move pretty fast and have hella firepower for that. Even still, I would hope that capital pilots would recognize the immense value that comes from not having to **** around with flying to every 2 bit system to grab all your stuff.
Even still, I don't know that this would be much more dangerous than undocking from Jita 4/4 with a few bil in your cargohold.

This could never work in 0.0 because the exit could be bubbled. In low sec, you cannot stop someone from cynoing out if they want to. If they know what they're doing, they literally can cyno out before the game will allow you to lock them.

I was thinking overlapping smartbomb carriers at undock that can do like 4k area dps with a few ships overlapped. Sure its not going to kill capitals, but it can put the hurt on everything else. Unless someone drops a titan or stacks of dreads, it is probably no problem to deaggress and dock up, unlike jita campers that often have to replace their pests.

Comments: - I wouldn't expect traffic to ever be high enough for it to be profitable to camp the station. Its not high sec, afterall. - There will likely be many cyno alts docked at such a capital market hub. - I can attest from personal experience that there's more than one supercapital fleet well within jump range of Frerstorn. On this basis alone I foresee a lack of carriers smartbombing the undock point.

@ guy who thinks he is going to station camp; you obviously don't fly a carrier yourself, because threats like that are what get carriers killed. I'm not sure you are familiar with low sec logistics, you have to mess up or fall victim to server lag to lose your ships in low sec.

Edited by: Diesel Grip on 30/07/2010 18:12:17 I put a lot into the market there and you can barely see it. It takes a lot to get something like this rolling.
Ammo, drones, rigs, ships, pretty much everything. Till the capitals get moving through here on a regular basis, small-medium modules and drones are a safe bet. You won't see a lot of battleships running around here.
Id like to mention that it is currently in the stocking the shelves stage. I wouldn't expect to be open for business for several weeks to a couple months.

Are you planning on building any capital ships? If not, how can you hope to have a one-stop shop? Even if cap ship mods, ammo, and fighters are a pain to move, it is still better to bring them to the cap ship then bring the unfitted cap ship to the one-stop shop.
Probably better to see who is selling cap ships in the area (check contracts) and talk to them about setting up sell orders in their station.
No station has enough manufacturing slots to make much more than one cap ship per day on average (1.5 carriers/day is about the max assuming the components are made in house) so you are never going to create the Jita of capital ship sales at a single station. But if you have 4 stations with factories in the same system and you get all 4 running at near capacity you could have something going.
Anyway, the short answer is you need to bring the market to the capital ship producers, not the other way around. When I was running my cap ship business, I would have been glad to have an eager young businessman keeping my station stocked with mods since I couldn't be bothered with all that small stuff (although I tried.)
Maybe once you get to know the cap ship producers, you could help each other out in other ways. For example, you could find out what ships they have in the pipeline and maybe work out some pre-sales if you had the right contacts.
So listen to what people are saying here and and realize that not all markets are the same. Find the right niche and maybe you will do well.

Claire, I am not building them personally. I have been in contact with builders over the last few months and have been providing financial aid to some builders who have needed it. The people I know who are building them are not building them in system, they are jumping them in after they are built. Carriers should be showing up on the market in the next few weeks. I am unaware if there are any dreads making their way here. However, I encourage everyone to bring their ships here to sell.

Yeah the flashy reds and roaming gangs are gonna cooperate 'Yeah no prob we'll just go over here where nobody is and campy-proby.'
Chose for off the beaten path? If this worked it would be a beaten path.
Needs backing for general security. General faction presence, nrds type policy stuff like that. Good luck working all that out. Yall will argue 3 pages on mods and minerals alone.
Mods- General t2 stuff, pvp-mission-explosr Ships, lotsa T2's assault frigs HAC's Interceptors, Cov-Ops a few transports might sell most ppl buy and fit them in hisec, lotsa recons, some marauders, T1 rigs, range ammo-missiles-crystals I check top rated fits on BC when stocking ships/mods in same market PPL tend to browse and if they dont see most everything often wont buy anything and go where it all is instead

Sorry but this is not for that kind of attitude. If you learn the land and ROE, we would be glad to have you bring your products down and give us some competition, but I really don't want to feed a bunch of people who don't know how to survive to the local pirates. Metropolis low sec is NBSI, and that is the way it will stay. If this is your way of asking how you can run logistics safely, well... don't be afraid to ask. Low sec is 100% safe if you know what you are doing. It is only dangerous for those who don't.
I would not suggest investing into typical mission runner gear. The mission runners in the area are with the faction war, and they do things different than the high sec type.

Update: Ive been working my butt off to get this station "stocked" but I cant keep up. The faction modules I thought would be good for carriers (heavy nutes) are not doing as well as I was hoping. Sadly I have been too busy to even try to get into stocking drones or restocking the hot selling T2 frigs that were cleaned off the market quickly.
Of the 3 caps that I know are in the oven right now only 1 hasn't already been sold, an Archon. Some of the dread guns have been restocked and the rest are on the way, along with XL ammo. Jump fuel was restocked.
Everything is going pretty good, and thanks to everyone who brought their business to Frerstorn!
Side note: I've gotten myself into an Ark so I am now available for contract as a jump freighter pilot.

If you know what you are doing, your JF is at zero risk. If you do something stupid, then the risk goes up. You should always count on your cyno ship dieing, and when it doesn't, you count it as a freebie. If anyone is not sure about how to pilot your JF through low sec, I would be glad to instruct you how.
I don't think have earned enough profit to pay off the JF yet. I have earned a lot more than would have if I took my goods to a market hub and got .01 isked within seconds of putting my goods up for sale. If you have the time to .01 isk your way through the day, then this is not your best route to make money.

for this to work as well as it could, it would have to be agreed upon that you leave griefing/pirating in Jita/Hek/Amarr and behave as a normal person. a police force could be set up to help this out with a local chat warning system or something like that to let them know
this sounds extremely exciting, i would love to come down and check it out, maybe use it for a research project for uni and track market data and how a semi-anarchist state could be run.

No need for policing. Low sec is perfectly safe if you have the basic tools of the trade (and a brain). A single low sec hub will never be as popular as a choke point/bottleneck between major hisec hubs (Cough Amamake cough) so there will never be significant pirate actions going on. Furthermore, Frerstorn is not between anything of major importance, so there is not any significant traffic going through Frerstorn gates.
Honestly, the only thing you really have to worry about is AFK cloakers .
Plenty of things still missing in Frerstorn though. Hop in the frerstorn retail channel.

But we still have a long way to go. I brought in a bunch of dread ammo, its all gone. We are fairly well stocked and are getting a little quicker to restock. A lot of people are buying us completely out of ships, I can only assume because they are worried that we wont be able to restock them?
So things are looking good to date.

I'm in fw for amarr and its a long ride of shame in my ibis back to huola or tuo after I lose a ship around there. I will definitely bookmark it and have some alts bring some stuff over as well. FW pvp ships and supplies would be nice. t1 ships and t2/bestnamed pvp fittings would be great. Also don't forget the rigs. -Cearain

I'm stocking Huola with modules and ammo, with ships soon to follow. Items seem to be selling fairly well for it's positioning as a system.
Huola seems to be a good jumping point into Providence - able to jump into around 15 systems. I think all of them had a station. I know it's only 5 jumps from Amarr but i'm trying to sell it as a system for convienence. I know alot of people who would rather pay that little bit extra than do another 10 jumps to get back into the action. Plus prices really aren't that much more, but people aren't only paying for convienence they're also paying for me hauling it there.
Off-topic: Why, oh why, isn't there an option for corp members to alter orders? Surely if you've given them director access then surely you trust them enough with the corps ISK.

If you're wondering what to bring, just thing low sec pvp stuff. I.e. frigates, cruisers, their tech 2 counterparts and fittings. Faction ammo would sell wonderfully I think, as would regular ammo. I imagine there'd be a goldmine here for meta 4 products.
Oh, and uh....don't worry about stocking amarr ships, they wont sell

I just want to jump in here and give another nonchalant bump with an update.
I've put up nearly everything I could possibly imagine relating to small ships (Frigates/destroyers) except for the T2 ships themselves. I've got a nice pile of minerals down there and am pumping out T1 frigates/destroyers to meet demand. The list includes: T1 ammo, T2 ammo, faction ammo, T1 ships, T2 modules, select few metas (armor plates, ab and mwd), popular T1 rigs, T1 frigates, T1 destroyers, and scripts. I can't manufacture T2 ships and I don't have the ISK to to keep them in stock.
T1 Ships I sell at cost and keep stocked up nicely (I swear I get noobs from Hek jumping into low sec to buy cheap ships because I sell a LOT of thrashers/probes). All else has markup. The idea is sort of like ink jet printers except prices are flipped on the ink/printer; 40$ printer, 200$ ink.
At first I wasn't selling a whole lot. Some people bought just a few things, eg restocking ammo. Now that the full package is there I've found people buying more full packages. Some people buy multiple ships (like Diesel pointed out) right away, others JIT them. Sometimes I see the same guy buy two ships 20 minutes apart. Later I see his wreck at a nearby gate. It's also kind of fun to search killboards for names that appear in the wallet. You can check out their favorite fittings then. I'm now also seeing names reappear in the wallet transaction log. Repeat customers.
I saw in local chat somebody talking about how they lost a ship and were going to try and reship 'here at frerstorn.' They mentioned this very post. Since I just happened to have an alt online at the time I striked a conversation up. He/she was happy to be able to reship in a cruiser (Some minmatar t1 cruiser) and found everything except for faction fusion M.
So things are looking pretty good in terms of potential. I chose the small ship market due to the extremely low isk requirement to 'fill the market gaps'. Making a medium ship market (battlecruisers, cruisers, T2 cruisers) is going to take many billions of ISK. Even small ship market is very thin (I have only 2-3 of many mods, and 'just enough guns to fit a destroyer'). More people = merrier at this point. It's not about profit margins yet, it's about getting some acceleration/traction on movement.
If you're just a T1 manufacturer - I can put up sell orders for minerals. Yes people do buy T1 mods for PvP ships. I don't have enough order slots to do it all. It's much easier to stock 500x T1 gun than it is 15x T2 gun. If 15x T2 gun runs out, theres always T1 guns. I haul down 800mm arti's and have someone reprocess them at another station (Ishukone is 30% refining, ugh) for minerals and I have plenty to spare. Someone with perfect refining for the republic military school corp would be a nice addition to the crew.
If you're a station trader with some extra isk - Consider putting up buy orders for popular PvP items players would get off looting other PvP ships. Keep it at station only, get people used to going to Frerstorn to buy/sell. Looking at killmails I've seen a lot of cruisers getting destroyed with small T2 mods and ammo. After a fight half the gang goes to reship, the other half can go to sell the loot. I take a BR from Frerstorn to Jita and back twice a week. Diesel uses a JF. If you want it hauled to Jita, someone can do it for you.
That's about all I can say about the Faction Warfare hub aspect of Frerstorn. I just don't have the ISK to add to the capitol hub aspect. I'm sure diesel could use a hand in that regard as well. If you want to take part of the small ship market for yourself, that frees up my ISK to focus on something else (like keeping the other half of the small ship market intact). More = merrier.
PS: One of my S&I alts needed some new cheap Int/Memory implants and I noticed someone put up basic int/memory implants at frerstorn. I laughed. Pretty good stuff :)

Just thought I'd post a little about my experiences with a low sec trade hub.
When in the minmatar militia, I did a lot of restocking of the market in Auga 3rd (closest thing minnie's had to a home station) I actually bought a JF alt and JF specifically for stocking this station.
I stocked all popular T1 and T2 sub-capital ships, T2 mods, a few best named and the most popular ammo types. (T1 mods sell ok but aren't worth the effort imo)
Within 3 months, I'd made enough to cover the cost of both the alt and the JF, which is not bad going.
In terms of initial capital, I put a few 10's of billions into this. Trade only really picked up after people began to realise that there was a market there being stocked and they could buy complete loadouts. This was critical: There is no point just selling ships and a few items as your buyers will have to go 5 jumps to a major hub to pickup everything else they need. Seeing that, they'll just buy everything at the hub. i.e. you need to stock enough for people to build complete loadouts - sometimes this means stocking items that provide less profit in order to boost the hub as a whole (the perfect example of this is (non-navy) cap boosters - huge m3 volume for miniscule profits but used in a lot of low-sec PvP loadouts) --------------------------------------

I was actually in Auga yesterday checking out the market there. One of the problems that i found (it might not actually be a problem, i just percieved it as one), is that Rens is only 4 jumps away and in the same market region. Thus people can see the prices and can simply go the extra 8 jumps (round trip) to get a cheaper setup. The flip side to this is that they have to pass through Amamake; to which pay people are, from your experience, willing to pay that little bit extra.
I may put a few things up there, see how they sell. We'll see.

I knew I forgot to do something. I even have all of the cap booster BPOs researched already. I can make 'em in station. Saves hauling. That's the nice thing about Frerstorn, it has 200 manufacturing slots.
Luke: Theres a picture in this thread on page 2 that shows what is stocked. What isn't there isn't stocked. If you need further assistance I suggest you go to a faction warfare killboard site and start taking notes.
Bear: Auga would work as a hub. Anyone who would even think about going to shop in Auga knows that they cannot ever buy a ship in rens and bring it back through Amamake. The Amamake gate is always camped, and you can always expect to get your ship and your pod smashed should you try.

Edited by: Kolimara on 21/11/2010 01:29:32 We are still looking for a jf-pilot who is interested in building up our business. We got a fresh char in training for this purpose and he is ready in some days.
First we want to know how much the jf-pilot want to get for his service. We can also agree on some percentage on our profit (the better we are after you deliver the more profit you get!). We got a page that shows our profits so you can be sure we dont betray you (why should we? our business depends on you!).

It's great to see all the interest in developing trade hubs in low-sec. People will need to remember though that compared to high-sec, turnover is slower and will need to be patient in selling thier goods. Most of us seem to be focusing on systems that are pretty close to each other. I bet it's pretty hard to even begin a trade hub in say Aridia, that place is dead...relatively.
In fact some items maybe cheaper in low-sec as the orders are changed less frequently than high-sec and so don't always follow price trends. So players may eat away at savings until the original items are sold on. Anyway. it's a great concept, more of you guys should join. This is proper sci-fi market...stuff.

Ive been selling things down there for a few weeks and its been kinda slow. They are selling, but it seems to be more a case of passing trade rather than lowsec dwellers knowing that someone is trying to create a hub there. If the word gets out, then i could see it picking up fairly easily.

Bought out all of my frigates and destroyers as well. I'm fairly sure this isn't necessarily aimed at destroying the frer hub, but is either a precursor to an amarr attack on the frer pocket (no ships and equipment means its harder for militia to reship) or some sort of market manipulation.
I say keep posting them at highish prices. You'll either make money or stop this silliness. If anything its making frer look better as a market hub as more stuff is moving.
BTW if anyone wants to stock the market with some tech 1 guns, it'd be appreciated for those of us with ****ty skills. Some tech 1 drones couldn't hurt either.

I have some minerals up for sale. I can arrange for more to come down I just haven't bothered since my minerals aren't really selling.
Trit: 8,000,000 @ 2.39 Pyer: 2,000,000 @ 4.60 Mexa: 1,000,000 @ 34.49 Nocx: 10,000 @ 569.99 (Not much of this left as my big stockpile got bought out at 399) Zydrine: 10,000 @ 1329.99 Megacyte: 9,700 @ 3499.99
Prices are marked up because I compressed the minerals to get them down here and we don't have a perfect refiner yet. I'll have that in a week.
That's enough to get started I suppose. I mainly use it for manufacturing frigs/destroyers due to their difficulty to haul into low sec.

Given recent discussion, I'm putting out a feeder for a standing increase service. If anyone is interested in increasing Ishukone standing (either to increase standing for Frerstorn Bottom Station or just to do R&D), I can sell Ishukone LP. I have almost 7 standing (adjusted for connections) with them and access to a couple of decent high sec level 4 kill agents from that corp. The going rate would be 4k isk per LP obtained.
Basically, we'd fleet up when I turn in missions. The LP for isk payment is just a lot simpler than trying to figure out how much standing you gain (which is roughly proportional) from the mission.
Please mail me in game, if interested.

I meant what I was going to charge rather than some implication about what the Eve community offers for the service. I have been away from Eve for a long time prior to this fall, so I'm out of touch with what's offered for such services.
I have no problem with someone else offering the service for substantially less. That just means it's not a viable business for me to enter.

Edited by: Liang Nuren on 16/12/2010 20:24:27 I see. I thought you were trying to sell people on the corp by claiming you could get 4k ISK/LP out of it - because that isn't gonna happen! But in reality you're charging people 4k ISK for every LP they 'leach' from you for being in your fleet. Good business model - make sure you account for the loss of mission bonus / mission reward as well (ask for that to be refunded). Good luck :)

The last capital that wasnt sold before it hit the market, sold within hours of me listing it. Its rough keeping them stocked.
Best I know there is a Thanatos, Niddy and Archon in the works right now. You should probably find an Archon elsewhere if you need it soon. The fighters and faction mods are around, either in hangars or in the staging area.

Lex Fasces - there is definitely a market for sub cap mods. Just keep in mind it is very easy going market wise, it wont move fast.

Edited by: Qu''o Naboo on 17/02/2011 14:08:57 I found the low sec market hub idea most inspiring and put some things in the market.
I saw that we need moar stuff there, most importantly classic pvp ships and the moduls to fit them. I'm speaking of Vagabonds, Rapiers as well as Thorax, Stabbers and so forth. All Relevant T1 and T2 ships smaller than BS should be always in stock. There are always free producing slots too, so minerals can't do any bad either.
Don't forget the new players and also put up T1 Drones and fitting. Maybe some new traders/producers want to try this, as the market here isn't so competitive yet.
For those of you who have large amounts of ISK sleeping.. put up buy-orders, that people not only come to buy, but also to sell their pvp/ratting loot here!

Just an FYI if people are expecting things to sell like hot cakes, they wont. PUtting items and ships in here should be considered a long term investment, not a quick/sure thing. It could just be that the purpose of your life is to server as a warning to others. |

Well i must say i love this idea. I have moved a permanent trade alt into system and slowly brought 400b in product to station. In a few days everything from PoS fuel, fighters, all drones, all hulls, mods, T2 mods, cap mods etc will be on market. I am also jumping in 28 capitals for sale on the local market. If you need anything specific just mail me.
And yes i did it because i was bored.

All regular capital fittings are now in stock, and Triage is on the way and should be available within a week.
One stop, no hauling, no fuss. (unless you need nitrogen isotopes, those tend to sell out quick :p) --- PoseidonHeavyIndustries.com Your one-stop capital supply shop, check out our IGB enabled website for up-to-date inventory availability. |

Now you need to consider stocking up on meta 1 capital modules...

FAQ's Q: Is this still going on? A: Yes
Q: What should I bring to sell? A: What ever you want really. (truth is if there is a good margin on it, and it moves I'm selling it myself)
---------------
Side notes: So far in the last nine months I haven't heard of any of our market players losing any market hauls, but the area has become more "dangerous".
Groups like Eve University fly through frequently but never stop to do business where as I see a lot of business from solo and small gang players.

Just a reminder that Black Frog offers JF service to losec/nosec. I'm interested to see how this hub works out. I've always wanted to see someone build up a hub like this. |

Today I sadly close the doors. To those who came to Frerstorn to resupply, it was a pleasure doing business with you.
