Whenever you hit the lag wall, instead of whining on this forum (helps for nothing) go tell your opinion, leave your comment on the review sites, the one that people uses to chose their next games to play and the ones CCP uses to promote their game. Here are few examples:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/eveonlineapocrypha?q=eve%20online - this particular one is used by Steam and European Games Award in giving Eve Online a score.
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/eveonlinetyrannis/review.html?tag=tabs;reviews
http://www.mmocrunch.com/mmorpg-game-list/?game=eve-online
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/14
If you go check the sites out you'll see how conveniently they are basing their score on Apocrypha and some reviews back from May 2009. Feel free to drop European Games Award a line about this too @ http://www.european-games-award.com/index.php/contact

I would hope that you would. In fact I would hope that most CCP Devs didnt even need to have threads passed to them and that they would actively read the forums and play EVE anyway.
What's much more concerning is the feeble (if any) response which rarely cuts the the core of the players concerns.
Most, if not all, marketing departments will listen and act upon their customers concerns - you're part of CCPs marketing effort: why aren't you doing so?

Start treating EVE as a game and investing in the playerbase rather than treating it as a business pyramid scheme to be maintained by constantly aquiring new customers while leaving the old ones to fade away and i might vote for you.
Pre dominion i would have, now with the ammount of work being put into stuff that noone who actually plays the game cares about? not a chance.
Maybe in 18 months time, assuming i haven't unsubbed my one remaining account by then

I brought up this specific thread in this morning's EVE marketing meeting, and it will appear in my "EVE press mention roundup" email either later today or tomorrow, which is widely read throughout CCP. --CCP Manifest-- |

Good! I hope you mentioned that retention of existing customers is just as important as getting new ones. Keeping existing customers is easy and is guaranteed income, while enticing new people is more difficult. And given the current game state, the possibility of keeping new players past the trial period seems to be quite small!!

sadly the game dont really need marketing atm but i guess your orderd to monitor this kind of stuff.
lets hope someone who can actually do something about the problems gets it, and you guys in marketing can convince those guys that without a game to marketing you all will be out of jobs eventually.

And then what? They delete the mail and pretend they are running a great game with great features and great playability and think they will be winning that award for sure??? Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of facts. |

To be honest, that's how most MMOs work most of time. Even WOW switched to that model with WotLK. But EVE is a very niche market that has survived with its small fanbase and them having gazillion accounts. If CCP wants to go that route they have to get rid of entire current playerbase and acquire new 300,000 sheep who will pay the sub for couple of months and then leave. Of course since its pointless to play EVE for just couple of months that would require complete redesign of skills and skill requirements.
And there is only one big mainstream MMO on the market forever, Blizzard's. You are either satisfied with your niche or you crash and burn after couple of months like every single MMO trying to compete with WOW did.

They don't get new customers if they don't satisfy the existing ones. This is one lesson learned from the NGE, SOE deliberately SET OUT to cast off their (then) 200,000+ existing customers because they thought their new direction would net them far more than that. Which of course didn't happen, the fact that the NGE sucked aside, who is going to join a MMO with a ****ed off and rapidly diminishing customer base?
Also, CCP, we don't WANT to be here complaining about the game. We WANT to be able to go to the voting site and vote for this game. Unfortunately though, if you don't change your development priorities to fix the existing problems I'm afraid the logs are going to show you aren't going to win this award. Tyrannous doesn't DESERVE this award.

Quoting this for great justice. C-J was the pinnacle, half the grid nonexistent, friends I couldn't even see who were 5km away getting DD by titans they couldn't even target, locking messages repeating for five minutes and still no lock, these only the most bizarre problems I've seen in my last year of EVE and your company has no clue how to solve it.
The data doesn't support that quality sells better than new features. It's not going to support it either because there is no way I am voting for this tripe.

We couldn't even have a fight in Providence with only 250 in system last weekend. It's pathetic and unacceptable. Back when Apocrypha came out we could have fights larger than that on unreinforced nodes with little or no problems and have fights with over 1,000 on reinforced nodes.
What has happened is because CCP has failed to stop the system from regressing with subsequent releases and we are back to arguably a WORSE position than we were in before Apocrypha. And they won't do anything about it until their current development cycle is done.
Hey CCP, lag DOES have another solution you know, other than investing our money in solving it (rather than developing a console MMOFPS) but that alternative solution isn't palatable: It's called players quitting the game, thus creating less stress on nodes.
