Tyrannous doesn't DESERVE this award.
This.
We like EVE, we want to play EVE and tell all our friends how awesome it is. But you CCP aren't providing. CCP, your only real source of income, 320.000 subscriptions to EVE Online are all about that tiny irrelevant "in space features" part of your lovely EVE universe, you know the part that has only 22 developers working on it for next two years.

Your having a ****ing laugh, CCP.
The game has never been so unplayable and full of pointless 'upgrades' and 'features' since Dominion.
Get your head out your arses and fix the lag; I've barely played the past 6 months of the past 6 years i've played this. Pre-Dominion, the game was just about coping & I was enjoying it.

Okay, now this post has me "slightly" upset. Let me start on the basics: You want the vote of course to get more people to play eve and make more money but here is the question: How will that IMPROVE our current game? I'll be plain honest, I haven't been in EVE for too long but there are some terrible things out there and the fleet lag is just the tip of the iceberg that everyone is able to see. You are priding yourself on that your game is a sandbox and that everyone is able to do anything in the game with the THOUSANDS OF OTHER PLAYERS. Alright, let's have a look at reality. Unexpectedly (because that is what happens if there are alot of people online by chance) a CTA is formed and people do not submit it to you and we encounter another fleet. Are we supposed to go back home, write you a long ass essay, tell you that you should feed the hamster more nutrients so that our cluster can take the fight for 5 minutes? No thanks! If you compare CCP with a jewelist, it comes across pretty similar. You are currently mass producing many flawed jewels (features) that you throw into a big bunk with other jewels that are partly flawed and party working, thus reducing the overall worth of the game experience. THE MORE FAULTY STUFF YOU ADD, THE MORE YOU WILL HAVE TO FIX IN THE END! I'll stop here before I'll start cursing and swearing, bottomline is: Give us a better performance and I'll gladly give you my vote.

Okay i always thought that ccp were comedians but cmon please ?
i would say Eve still scores highly in most areas, but due to the current bugs there is no way in good humor i could bring myself to vote for it,
Also i will be posting this thread to my corp m8's who would probally agree.

Their excuse from that one Dev post was that the Devs they have on Incarna and Dust aren't the kind of Devs who could fix the server node performance problem.
Which isn't an excuse at all, it's an admission of failure of management: failure to staff the company with the personnel they need to perform the necessary tasks.
Which is all ultimately the CEO's responsibility.

You want to know what the best part of EVE Online is?
The fact that I've been stuck in an unpopulated system (9 person average) in Deklein for more than two days.
I can't undock, I can't access my wallet, I can't leave my ship. I can't interact with the vast majority of the game. It took me almost thirty-five minutes to get a petition filed through the lag.
I guarantee you I'm not going to get even a 24 hour addition to my subscription either.
CCP: I enjoy your game. It's fun, it's extremely in-depth, and the one thing that I feel sets it apart from other games is the scale of player activity. 40 person mining ops, 500 person fleets, 1000 person fights. It's a scale of PVP you don't see anywhere else.
However, I have been literally stuck in an empty system for almost two days. This is absolutely unacceptable for me as a customer, and I feel personally insulted that CCP thinks I am going to put up with this sort of seemingly random game-halting latency for an 18-month timetable.

Truth be told, I wouldn't advise Eve to any friend in its current state, and it saddens me a lot. I begun playing with QR and it was awesome. First huge battle, 1200 in local and guess what, very playable. I've been very surprised over the time tho that nothing I personally as a pvp player wished was being fixed (rockets, omen, capricious/laggy overview for example) but useless features added instead. I then begun to understand the marketing team must have had taken over the dev/design team.
And now we are here, with a broken game.
I wouldn't advise any friend to join, no. Can't tell him to come on an op in a rifter and wait 5 minutes for grid to load when jumping in a system with 300 in it.
I would have at the QR/Apoc age, **** yeah.

How much you wanna bet the planetary interaction part is what is causing the overstressed nodes, and CCP knows it, and taking that out (which would wipe the whole Tyrranus expansion) is not an option because the whole reason they added it was for DUST514.
No shiny planets, no planetary interaction, no DUST514.

If this was posted say a year and a half ago when you could have 1500 people fighting in a system I would actually have voted. But considering I only even have 1 of 3 accounts active at the moment (training in hopes that PVP doesnt fail soon tm) due to the lag issues thats just not going to happen. Better luck next time. I also may have voted if Tyrannus was about dinosaurs.

You shouldn't have WoT on the list seeing as half the features are missing, there are numerous bugs, and it needs a few more months of testing before its ready for release.
But then, all that applies to EVE as well!

tbh i noticed just after dowtime today, wherein apparently some defragmenting was done, when i went to scan resources on my extractor i didnt get buggy lag and have the resource extraction list stutter into view. it seems to me all the constantly moving data on 69000 planet all across eve is using quite alot of database. i also noticed that was the major change i noticed in playing after the last extended dowtime as well. Seems very likely as a cause of the recently increased lag issues. maybe there is a need for planetary resources to run on segragated database/nodes.

Edited by: Abulurd Boniface on 28/07/2010 18:12:19 Lots of tears about missing/broken features.
The reality: you're all here, ain'tcha?
I have an idea about the engineering effort of keeping something like EVE alive and kicking. I have a great fondness for the brutal universe our lords and masters in far Reykjavik have created for us. All that is far more valuable to me than the odd bug or not-yet-perfectly-implemented feature.
The core business is untouched: you still get to inflict yourself upon your fellow capsuleer, you can still roam free and be the blight on the land. You can still execute a 'monkey steals the peaches' maneuver and yank, with relish, the male reproductive glands from your opponent's body and rejoice in your victory. None of that is diminished by a bug here and there.
Please, stop whining, it's unbecoming.
I have, with great pleasure, voted for EVE as the best online game. And you have [or should] too. And you know why: because it damn well is the best online gaming experience out there.
CCP, not all your customers are spoiled children. Thank you for an awesome user experience.

You do not get to judge how others experience the game. That is not your privilege. If he wants to suck roids in Empire 23/7 that is his prerogative. He is just as much a capsuleer as you are, his actions and goals are his sovereign will.

Eve-Online is the only online game I have ever played...and I enjoy it! That being said, I would expect for known issues to be resolved. I understand that as a business, your customer base must expand. However, an interest in attracting new players is beginning to appear like a disinterest in those you currently serve. I cannot in good conscience cast a vote.
