I am using Wine-1.1.44 on Gentoo Linux and I get this error here.
Replacing service 'sessionMgr' with 'eveSessionMgr' Service sessionMgr: 0.000s Service corp: 0.001s *** glibc detected *** C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe: malloc(): memory corruption: 0xb1571610 *** wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x20649004 at address 0xb76b8472 (thread 001b), starting debugger...
This error completely freezes the game and there isn't anything I can do about. Any ideas on a solution to this problem ? Thanks for the help. ---- There is no limit! |

There are several possibilities you have to check:
-A specific Wine-1.1.44 problem. Your wine is well outdated. The current version is wine 1.3.0.
-A compilation problem with the libraries of your wine. Did you use a binary? If so, recompile to your specific system.
-A hardware problem. Check your memory with memtest86 if something shows up.

They slipped that one in. I stand corrected. Looks like they addressed some Eve related errors.

That they did.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a far few Wine Devs play eve. ;)

All the closed bugs are not due to any Wine fixes/updates. They are all old dead bugs that are being cleaned out of the appdb recently.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17955 is a good example. It was opened over a year ago as a duplicate of http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15485 but none of the contributors realised it. Then it gets confused with the many ATI driver bugs which is a bug report type that is regularly closed because it's not a Wine problem. A few months later it gets two separate regression issues thrown in.
Marc gets angry because everyone else is happy that the regressions are fixed but Eve's still crashing with his ATI card. Then, I presume, he finds out that it's his driver that is at fault because the thread goes quiet until N3o pops in to close it.
----- The Eve Client - A Love Story - The single biggest fix CCP ever did to Eve. Keep it up! |
