Lately (past couple of weeks) I've been getting a super increase in performance drop with my client.
6 months ago I used to be able to run 3 clients at once no problem, including during fleet engagements. These days a single client will essentially become borderline unplayable in a 3v3 fight in an empty system.
What gives?
Honestly do we need so much superfluous crap in the client? Does everything have to beep, blink, flash, whizz, have 3D shading, have varying levels of opacity, etc etc? You could release a client that looks like it's made for Windows 3.1 as long as it rendered the actual ships and space properly it'd be absolutely fine. Honestly who plays Eve because of the UI? If anything, most of us play in spite of it.

Edited by: Ran Khanon on 01/08/2010 23:06:42 Pff, could be so many things in your own pc as well. Last time I had performance it turned out to be faulty ram which would only surface while playing some games. Never would have guessed it and I was on the verge of getting a new graphics card.
Could also be software related though.
Some suggestions to rule that out: update drivers and direct-x, clean up your c drive, backup your cache and try it with a clean one, check your list of active programs and look for unexpected resource hogs, fool around with your graphics driver and game settings, download the program that checks for errors in your client, and if that all doesn't help, reinstall the client, and finally reinstall your O.S and do it all again.
Compared to many other game EVE is a lightweight as far as I can tell.
edit: Oh and go easy on the LOLCAPS I agree with everything Barakkus posts. |

It's got something to do with CAPSLOCKS FORUM THREAD TITLES.
I've noticed that my pc just isn't capable of handling them quickly.

Easy to fix.
Press ESC
Goto the 'reset settings'
Find a button that says 'Clear all Cache Files'
and there you go all fixed :-)
ps. CCP should really get the client to auto clear cache if the client lag gets too bad - it would solve alot of 'Laggy Eve threads'. I came, I saw, I downloaded. |

Windows performance will degrade over time, when was the last time you reformatted?
