Hi im a new player been playing under a month and im only intrested in pve for now (cant afford to pvp tryed it once was most expensive beating ive ever had) i have been useing Vexors which was working ok but ended up getting ganked and switched to a Thorax thinking it would be stronger but seems to cost more to repair and use. are there any items i should 100% be useing and any tips for pve and what skills are a must for it. just to say i cant swap ships as ive not got the money : /

Hmm, link the fits for both ships you used. Both vexor and the Thorax and we can get an idea of what can be improved. But i would say, in terms of missions get t2 light and medium drones ASAP since you're gallente. Combat drone operation 5 is handy aswell. Also drone specs relevant to the area you are doing missions in. IE, minmatar and caldari drone specs in minmatar space since that's the two main weaknesses there. Altho gallente drone spec is handy aswell to have.

Start doing those armor tanking skills. If you are getting busted up, then you need more defense. Then you can do the drones.
but for pve on gallante, armor and drones. Then go up for bigger ships (mainly dominix if you are going the droneroute). Stop whining. |

Don't fly what you can't afford to loose.

Look at ship certifications on the information tab. Its a general guideline.

Stick with a Vexor. Thorax blows for PVE. It has two bonuses per cruiser skill: 5% damage and a MWD cap reduction. MWD is useless is all but a handful of missions. Train for a Vexor which is very versatile, can pack a mean tank, and drones do the dirty work (which you want because almost all ships have a drone bay) or look at a brutix/myrm battlecruiser which are alot more expensive but once your skilled enough can be pretty tough to crack.

if it's costing you to repair, i have a feeling you're talking about repairing at station. try active armor tanking and train relevant skills for it, what you're trying to get at this stage is ability to use hardeners + med armor repper with cap skills to run the repper. Download EFT and fiddle around with your setup to see if you can get a tank that lasts for reasonable time. Also, like others have mentioned already, train some drone skills+read up on your mission before you go in so you know what resist modules to equip.

Edited by: My Postman on 06/08/2010 10:24:44 Dammit CCP has eaten my first post and i did a rant on GD.
Second try to help the OP. Sooooo... Here is a Vexor fit you can work up till you can fit those modules
Vexor, missions:
Low: Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Medium Armor Repairer II
Mid: 10 MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
High: Drone Link Augmentor Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Heavy Neutron Blaster II Heavy Neutron Blaster II
Rigs: Medium Anti Explosive Pump I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Drones: 5 x Hobgoblin II 5 x Hammerhead II 5 x light drones whatever you want
This setup will run the cap for 8 min 37 sec (with my skills and salvager, tractor, and guns turned off). If you run in fitting problems (CPU) drop the drone link augmentor first.
If you want to go Thorax i have another yummy fitting ready:
Thorax, missions
Low: Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II Medium Armor Repairer II
Mid: 10 MN Analog Booster Rockets Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
High: Drone Link Augmentor 4 x Dual 150 mm Railgun II
Rigs: Medium Auxillary Nano Pump I Medium Hybrid Collision Accelerator I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Drones: 5 x Hobgoblin II 5 x light drones whatever you want
This setup is very tight on CPU, drop Drone Link Augmentor first if CPU issues. It is not capstable, you have to pulse the repper or turn your guns off. When entering missions L 3 drop the 10 light drones for a flight of 5 x Hammerherd II.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Forgot to say: This Thorax may be a bit overtanked for L1 and 2. If you feel it is, swap the Damage Control for a damage mod. If you want to salvage come back in a dessy.
