I've upgraded from XP to 7 and now my Eve clients have only 4 resolution options now when running in windowed mode on 7 vs approx 10 windowed mode resolutions on XP.
The smallest I can now select with windows 7 is 1600 x 1024. I use to have a 1024 x 768 when running XP. These new limited resolution options sucks for running multiple clients.
Any ideas how to get lower res settings on my client back?
Thanks
And yes, I did install all the latest drivers

I have the same problem, only I can lower my desktop resolution and actually get the other resolutions to work PROVIDED, I dont press escape in which case it will immediately reset.
I'm not at all suggesting that this is entirely EVE's fault and I do recognize that its probably something in Windows 7 too, however I would like to point out that many other games support many different resolution, even in window mode. This is actually a problem that annoys me a bit, cause no matter what I do the client will always take up almost all of my screen, which isnt the point of running window mode for me tbh. Would like this investigated please!

Neither of you have mentioned what graphics cards you have but on my system (Windows 7 x64 with 2x GeForce 8800GT cards in SLI) I get a whole list of resolutions from 1024x768 up to the max resolution of my monitor.
The other (possible) difference is that I have my monitor connected via a VGA connector as it's a few years old now and doesn't have a DVI or HDMI connector on it. ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

I have the same issue on my laptop, windows 7 and ati 4750 card. Only 3 resolutions, and none that i need for windowed mode.
Allready tried to find a way to set the resolution, tried the registry add for custom resolutions doesnt work either.
In windowed I can't select a resolution that is lower than my maximum vertical which is annoying since theres a taskbar and all.

60 Hz doesnt work, I've tried this. I have this problem on my laptop and desktop. I'm still stuck as per my original post. I was about to file a bug report but not sure it'll help :(

Just noticed that even though I set 60 Hz my monitor goes back to 59 Hrz as soon as I close the settings window. I'll give HP a call and see is they know why |

Solution for Nvidia card owners ----------------------------------------------------------
- Make sure you have the latest version of the Nvidia driver installed. - Go to Nvidia Control Panel. - Find 'Change Resolution'. - Click the button 'Customize'. - Click 'Create Custom Resolution'. - Make sure the settings you see there are correct. - Click the drop-down button 'Timing' to reveal more settings. - In the drop-down box exchange 'Automatic' with 'Manual'. - At the bottom of the dialoge box you will find 'Refresh rate'. Make sure it's '60.001' Hz set there and nothing else. - Click on the 'Test'-button and when asked, save the new resolution. - et Voila!
Regards,
/Dar.
Ps. If you have more than one monitor you need to do the above steps for both monitors.

I cleared my eve chache, and also updated my nvidia drivers. This worked for a couple of days where I could pick and choose from many window resolution options including 1024x768. But the problem came back. This time I uninstalled and reinstalled EVE, and checked for new drivers. I went through your steps to set a custom resolution, but 1024x768 is already on a list of resolutions to run in my nvidia control panel and it just changed my desktop resolution and didn't add any to my eve client. When I set the refresh rate to 60Hz, it just resets itself back to 59Hz. The three resolution options I have on my first card are 1680x1050 (which is the normal window size I run when running one client), 1920x1080, and 1920x1200, and only 1920x1200 on my second card. |

Sadly, some card/driver combinations does not seem to be able to stick to 60Hz. I'd contact Nvidia to figure out how to force the card to run 60Hz, as that will solve your problem.

@deepfreeze
It helps if you do it right.
Do NOT create a custom resolution for the resolution you want to run your EVE client(s) in, but for your normal desktop resolution. So, if you are using 1920x1200x32 as your normal desktop resolution you create a new custom resolution based on THAT and put the timing to 60.001Hz.
@CCP Stillman
This works for all Nvidia cards if done correctly.

Putting an ati card to 60hz doesn't help unfortunatly, still only 3 resolutions and all with the same height.
unfortunatly eve resets to the old resolutions if i set desktop to an other resolution and then selecting it in eve and turning the desktop back to native.

I seem to have found a solution that works for me.
First I set the desktop resolution to 1280x800 then I start EVE, and now I get to choose from all sorts of window sizes. I choose something e.g 1024x768 and close EVE. Then I set the desktop res back to 1920x1200. Now when I open EVE again, it remembers the resolution from last time (1024x768) :)
I only hope it's permanent

I have 2 machines, a desktop and laptop. One runs in 59 Hz and the other 60 Hz and both suffer from this problem. Never happened with XP only with Windows 7. This would lead me to believe that its a compatibility issue between Windows 7 and the Eve client.
I have filled a bug report and CCP asked for some additional info/screen shots. I also marked it for CCP Stillmans attention as you have been responding. See ID:100033
Thanks

The issue you're experiencing is most likely the same, that your monitors are running at 59Hz. The DxDiag attached to the BR shows that your graphics-card is outputting in 59Hz, which with recent drivers, will severely limit your resolution options.
I'd encourage you to try and download the Singularity client with the Singularity tool we have recently released. I'd e very interested to know if this new client solves the problem. Also, we have a mass-test on Singularity at 20.00 tonight. So you could join the mass-test and also test if the new client resolves the issue, as I believe it might

The new Sisi tool worked perfectly and patched both the PC and laptop. Both Sisi client started without issue.
The new client gives me back all my resolutions on the PC , good job. However, the resolutions on the laptop remain the same, still limited to just 3 resolutions in both Windowed and Full Screen mode. So we are half way there :)

I'm glad to hear that the issue fixed the issue on your PC.
Could you please file a bug-report with the title: "For Stillman", with a DxDiag of your laptop? Also please include a screenshot of the resolutions you get, and include what resolution and size of the screen on the laptop.
