Please forgive the noob question, but I am wondering why the ASB is never used in missions. Dual-ASBs only have a small downtime between them, so is there a problem with running ASBs in PvE content? I tried looking around for an explanation but I was unable to find anything. |

Cargo hold can't hold enough cap boosters for some of the longer missions. Also, booster charges cost money. Takes away from missioning profit (which is small enough as it is). |

I typically dual box missions and I use an ASB on one of my characters as a back-up in case my permarunning Tengu doesn't get full aggro. You can get by with using just an ASB for tank, but it pretty much requires you to kill everything before your reload cycle, which may not always be possible. |

Salvage, refine, make boosters.. no cost.
I have started using one on my NM, that way my shield boost cycles and my cap hungry beams don't have to fight for cap. Seems to be working out OK. |

No it was free because my NM has 2 utility slots which can fit a tractor and salvager and does not impact my mission times, just need enough to make some boosters... In your case you could put a cyno on to drop some cap ships in for when the ninja salvagers come to mess with you |

Apparently it's still free because you still mined it. For free.
On topic to the OP, though - most missioners don't like cap boosters or ASB's because of the cargo & cost problem, and prefer to build cap-stable fits. However using a cap booster or ASB can be a good idea if it allows you to fit more damage mods to finish the mission faster, resulting in more profit in less time, even factoring in the cost of cap charges (which are still not free even if you made them yourself). Or if you're unable to build a cap-stable fit and finish the mission at all, perhaps due to low skills. |

There is no problem as long as you have sufficient cargohold to last through the mission. If you are in a battleship, you should be fine. Anyone talking about the cost should look it up before posting -- they're practically free. You can literally buy hundreds of them from the bounty of one battleship rat. |

Yeah that is what I was thinking, if my knowledge of ASBs is correct, you can just jam in a bunch of the smallest one and get the same boost. Last I checked those were crazy cheap. |

I use an XK ASB on a mach quite frequently vs angels...it works very well. I can MWD around all over the place without really worrying about my cap too much, so keeping range on (or melting) the bigger spawns hasn't been a real problem. I can run through most missions and either not reload it, or not do so more than once. That's vs angels though...it doesn't work as well against other factions. Triple rep Myrms are like what you'd get if you strapped a beehive to Robocop. |

I could imagine these would work great on the Golem or Vargur, due to their bonus to shield boosters and the fact that marauders have a massive cargo bay and use only half the ammo. |

I was considering just toying around with fits that had an ASB for my Scorp Navy Issue. I didn't know if the ASB would give me more wiggle room to kill things without murdering my cap. My DPS isn't bad but it is low enough that running a shield booster can be a drag on it over time. |

You know you can use 400 charges and nothing happens other then you can fit 10 in the booster? it still costs 0 cap and boosts the same amount

The opportunity cost of turning those modules into cap boosters is that you could have SOLD them instead. Those cap boosters have COST you what you could have made by selling them instead of turning them into boosters.
Also, your fit is crap, try something like this instead:

Current fit is a test.. imo beams work better. My normal fit will have another TE, XL SB and a heavy cap booster.. but we use what works for us... |

They work just fine, but the risk of losing ship in pve is so low, the deadspace version of "standard" shield booster is often better choice even it is many times more expensive than asb . But I am speaking only about high dps faction and t2 boats, no idea if low skilled t1 bs can survive the reload in some missions (I wouldnt bet on it).

There's really not that big of a difference...an active shield bonus usually is less than 10% more efficient on reps than a resist-bonused ship. Triple rep Myrms are like what you'd get if you strapped a beehive to Robocop. |

Dear god...why would you fit an ASB, whose main strength is you don't need a cap booster to run it...and then still fit a cap booster? I am confuse.

My guess, cap problems by running tachyons on multifrequency ammo. Eats a lot of cap if run permanently, especially with less cap due to the mwd. |

I am confuse.
Lasers eat cap.. but as said it was a test to see how it compares to my normal fit.. Haven't yet decided if it is something I will keep...

Thanks for the fit, I personally use an Aerator II with an Ionic field projector I in the rigs slot. Over 1000DPS and can lock out to 120km which makes it a lot quicker. Use 2 T2 hardeners plus amp/x-large T2 for tank. AB fit at the moment but a MWD is on the cards after I can squeeze it in with some skill training. I find power is tight on my fits. |
