Well it was really easy to do since it's been on that setting by default forever.
Edit: classic troll behaviour: latch on to anything not immediately addressed by the OP's post. Then when he does address it, latch on to the next thing not addressed. Wait for him to waste more time addressing that. Then latch onto something else...
For information the default setting, as noted in the link provided, is handily called:
"Interval Default"
Quote: Interval One = Vsync on Interval Default = Vsync detection refers to driver default setting (those with game profiles may wish to use this) Interval Immediate = Vsync off
Unfortunately you 'addressed' very little in your OP and seem to be reticent to provide details that may help others to help you.

Liar. Blatant liar. You revolt me. I have nothing BUT be explicit about what's going on and addressing the bull**** suggestions it's not Eve at fault - which it plainly is.
Edit: if this was the DEFAULT advanced graphics card settings at fault, then WHY IS FPS NOT DIPPING DOWN TO NEARLY ZERO EVERY SECOND ONCE A SECOND ALL THE TIME? WHY CAN I SOMETIMES GO HOURS WITHOUT THIS STARTING? THOUGH ONLY MINUTES IS MORE COMMON. WELL? WELL? GOT AN ANSWER TROLL? NO, YOU DON'T. BECAUSE IT. IS. EVE. AT. FAULT. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

Yes, I should have been taking a look at CPU, disk, memory and network performance of other apps every damn time stuttering in Eve started (stuttering which is not evident in other apps running while Eve is stuttering).
If only it had occurred to me to be using iStat menus, Activity Monitor and Eve's on stat windows when stuttering starts and does not stop till I quit Eve, which immediately fixes it (temporarily anyway) - so one wonders why it doesn't happen again immediately it another app is to blame.
But sadly I'm a clueless !@#$ without the brains to do the above, so obviously it's just another process spiking CPU usage, because I'm too braindead to check that.
I certainly have not already mentioned I checked all this many time before.
You absolutely don't have a reading comprehension problem.

You've clearly said that Eve doesn't stutter at all times. The question is, when Eve changes, what is different? What conditions changed between Eve stuttering and not stutter?

*forced to login twice yet again to post*
Stuttering still present in 1.1a - http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5769/picture168.png
Note the FPS display bottom left side and the vertical dashes in the graph s FPS plummets and Eve stutters once a second, every second till it's restarted, yet immediately upon restarting Eve is ok again for a while and as always no other apps are affected. Also still happening in both OSX 10.5.8 and WinXP Pro on my mid-2007 24" 2.8GHz iMac with a Radeon 2600 HD Pro and 4GB RAM.
And nothing is 'different' when the stuttering begins. I can be in a station, mining in asteroid fields, flying between gates, missioning, PvPing, anything and it will start.
Memory leak in Eve somehow related to this iMac's ATI card? I dunno, but other Macs and PCs are unaffected. But I do know Eve has major issues with ATI cards in Linux and WINE on OSX. So there's history there of Eve not being built well with ATI graphics. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

But hey, maybe MAGIC will make turning off Help cease the stuttering??? IF THAT IS !@@#$%%^^&**ing so the WHY have I STILL had STUTTERING WHEN I NORMALLY ONLY HAVE LOCAL, CORP and ONE INFREQUENTLY USED private channel open??? WELL??????????????
Let me make it real simple for you, you brainless idiot. I AM RIGHT. YOU ARE WRONG. Eve is at fault. If that sounds arrogant, I DON'T CARE!!!! I'M STILL RIGHT. That is reality.

Alternatively he could re-install? Maybe new drivers? Clean any dust out of his PC. Stuttering can be caused by a million and one different problems. Have you tried clearing your cache?

*deep sigh* Does anyone read what I've already posted? I have addressed all these issues. It is only Eve.
I'm marginally sorry I lost it just before, but frankly not enough to take the posts down. I. HAVE. ALREADY. ADDRESSED. THESE. ISSUES. I simply do not know how I can be more clear. Stuttering is not linked (in any obvious fashion, anyway) to any in-game event.
It has even happened about 30 mins (and not always 30 mins - sometimes hours, more often just a few minutes) after I launched Eve in a WH system with only myself inside, and no active channels open, and I've got distracted and done nothing after logging in. I've then returned about half an hour later and seen stuttering begin after still doing nothing as I ponder my plans for the night.
Nor is it linked to any external event that I can see. No other app is affected, even those running WHILE Eve is stuttering. I have carefully watched CPU, drive, memory and network stats within and without Eve.
The stuttering happens in OSX and WinXP on this Mac.
It has persisted through clean installs of Eve in both OSes and manual deletion of settings folders.
It immediately disappears when Eve is restarted, only to return a random time later.
Again - no other app is affected, including the half dozen other graphics intensive MMOs I play, as well as numerous other 3D games in both OSes.
But here I go yet again addressing what I've already posted. I'm tired of repeating myself. Though at least the last poster seemed genuinely wanting to help, even if they didn't read back.
I'm sorry if I'm more than a little cranky today, but the combination of 1.1's issues, this ongoing issue and jackasses on the forums do not help my temper. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

If it's happening when you play the game on both Mac OS X and Windows XP, it's likely hardware problem. Yes, a problem with EVE, but relating to your hardware, not your OS. Try posting your issues in the Issues, Workarounds & Localization as it's likely to receive more hits.
Try this thread or this thread for starters. Search is such a wonderful feature, don't you think :)

I would repeat once again that zero other Win or OSX apps are affected (making a hardware issue extremely unlikely given the large number of 3D games I play and CPU and GPU intensive apps I run just fine). I would bring up once more I've not only tried clearing caches, but have reinstalled Eve and manually deleted settings. I would point out that a Mac is just a PC with custom EFI firmware, so trying to blame it all on my computer being a Mac is a bit silly, really.
Well, I would bring all that up again... and I guess I just did, but really I want to ask is: just how lame are the jerks who have trolled me in this thread? I mean how lame do you have to be? Lame enough to actually threaten me in game LOL. Please read my post again. You are experiencing this issue on BOTH Mac OS X AND Windows XP. Therefore, you are posting in the WRONG forum. This is for people running EVE on Mac OS X. Your issue isn't restricted to Mac OS X, so this is the WRONG forum.
You need to go to the Issues, Workarounds & Localization forum where, if you use the search feature (as I did), you will find several threads from people experiencing THE SAME ISSUE AS YOU and they are NOT USING A MAC.
Most are, however, using ATI cards so the issue is a HARDWARE issue, not a Mac issue. Maybe it is an EVE issue, but the fact is that the issue is between your HARDWARE and EVE, not between Mac (in general) and EVE.

Oops posting with alt :(

Ok, I see you have cleared your cache - that is good.
Now, is this problem happening in any other similar applications that are connected to the Internet?
We need to narrow down where the issue may be occuring.

*resists urge to point out I've already covered this over and over... wait, did I say that out loud? Damn, now everyone knows I'm an arse...*
Nope, no other apps are affected, even while Eve is bugging out and stuttering like mad (I've actually launched Quake 3 and WoW while Eve is stuttering, just to prove the point). Nothing is evident from watching CPU, disk, memory and network monitors while Eve stutters. There appears to be no common event preceding the stuttering, other than me wishing fervently it won't start as I'm in the middle of a mission.
So far the only common element seems to be people running Macs or PCs with certain ATI cards, though that's just a guess - but a good one I think. -- Frog blast the vent core! |
