I also have netnanny installed and I havnt been able to use eve for the past few days because of the same issue. However, I went into the program appliaction exceptions and added EXEFILE.EXE. All capped because the exefile.exe is DIFFERENT from eve.exe. I did not realize this until I was browsing through my eve install folder and found the exefile.exe inside of the BIN folder. I would encourage you to add exefile.exe to your application exceptions as it fixed the problem for me.
Good Luck!

Does that eve.exe really do nothing more than pop-up that annoyting-stupid Splash screen, and then run exefile.exe? -- "Entering MH means instant death. It's worse than 0.0. Even the asteroids shoot back." - Alex Harumichi [GRD]

I have gone through this thread... and I have not see this mentioned...
I have not been having the exact same issue as everyone else. I also am not running any additional software (network related). I am running Vista 64 on 2 PCs and usually run a single instance per PC. What was happening, was that I could connect to a single instance of Eve without issues for about 30-45 minutes before it would drop the connection. If I started a second instance (on either the other PC or the one with the first instance)... I would loose connectivity to Trinity, TS, and several other internet connections.
I did think that maybe my router had an issue, but after checking connectivity from a 3rd computer through the router, it was not the issue. just the two PCs running Eve.
So I started to think that something wasn't right. Not sure what made me think about it, but I thought about the ports. There is this thread: Problems Connecting on Port 26000... It talks about an alternate port to use for Eve. So in the interest of just trying, I change the port on one instance to the one listed in the article and left the second instance at 26000. To my surprised eyes, the one I changed never dropped for over 2 hours, but the one I left at the standard port constantly dropped connection in 5-30 minutes after I logged in.
So I changed all of my clients to run with the alternate port and have not had any issues.
Not sure if you guys have tried it, but it might be worth it to see if you can connect and play.
I am going to do some additional investigating to see what I can find. I am by no means saying this will fix the issue. It did resolve it for me until CCP can figure out exactly what happened to cause this issue.

As reported by others in several threads, this latest update has broken EVE's ability to be proxied (eg. by programs such as proxifier). This regression should be pretty easy to reproduce and fix...

For some strange reason, my money seems to be on ccp sweeping all the new bugs under their big bug rug. Fixing eve.. who am i joking. i had hope but its been 6 days and ccp is still taking a vacation from the thread.

EVE doesn't seem to like Proxycap on my Win7 x64 installation, even though the rules are set up to ONLY redirect WoW traffic, and it worked fine up until this latest patch.
Even after quitting out of Proxycap, the game constantly disconnects me within a minute or two of logging in.
Damn it, test your patches before throwing them out like this. In my opinion we should be getting reimbursed for the time wasted by all this. |

Hurray the next mass testing.... Wait, I still can't even play. Any projections on when you are going to fix the network stacking problems? AkA, the problems caused by having firewalls, anti-viri, and other random network monitoring software. Just so we are clear, the problems caused by this last patch.

Originally by: Goofy Goober does anyone here have a program called netnanny or anything like that on your pc's? i did and i uninstalled it and it works now... kids just won't be going on the computer till it gets fixed...
Thank you very much for this input. I was having issues with the Eve client beginning after the new patch. The splash screen would start and then an error message from windows saying it needed to shut down the client. I got so frustrated that I reformatted my hard drive and bought Windows 7 (had XP before). After installing the Eve client, all was well. Then I installed NetNanny and the same issue developed immediately with the Eve client. If they haven't yet done so, CCP needs to make a serious note of this issue. I have done the troubleshooting at my end and as far as NetNanny is concerned, it is confirmed to be the issue I and others had. What issue others are having, I don't know. I do know that I never had issues running NetNanny and the Eve client before this new patch. So CCP most certainly changed something that is connected with this. Perhaps a 3rd party program issue is part of the problem with others as well, even if it's not NetNanny that they have.
Hope this helps others as well.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. I use Cyberpatrol a program very similar to netnanny.

Dear EVE peoples,
I wanted to update you on my situation. I'm unable to connect to the I.P. address.
1, My system dose not clash with the update nor does it crash. 2, I get the slash screen and I also get the login page. 3, I am able to connect to EVE Gate, EVE Mon, I can log into this forum.
I have tried to change from port 26000 to port 3724 and I still cannot connect port. I have allowed eve through my firewall and my Antivirus and anti spyware are not listed as problems for eve (though I wouldn't play eve without them anyway) I use Avast antivirus and SUPER anti spyware for protection. I've cleared the cache and everything else I have been asked to do. I have installed and recorded my connection via Pingplotter and I get massive Packet loss when my line leaves my country, however I can connect to servers elsewhere and other online games...
I have also contacted my Internet provider and they have also checked my connection to the internet and they say I have a good connection, They don't have the authority to check the eve I.P. address 87.237.38.200 I wonder if the address is incorrect?
Anyways that is where I got to so far. I still think this is a patch error made by ccp, possibly forgot to tick a box or 2, it can happen.

We have deployed a client to Singularity (v6.31.175988) that may help address the following issues:
- The client crashes before the login screen appears.
- The client is unable to connect to the server when connecting via proxy software.
If you are experiencing either of these issues we'd appreciate your help in verifying that the issues are resolved.
Steps to setting up an install for Singularity can be found here. The current Singularity patch can be downloaded from here.
Please remember to create a copy of your Tranquility client before applying the patch. The Singularity client is not compatible with Tranquility.

Ok i tried it, on the singularity server, it could connect, i entered my password, goes to character selection loading screen, and half way loading it crashes. It does gif a different error now, first it gave a runtime -abnormal program termination.
Now i get the usual windows 7 popup saying CCp exefile has stopped working and that the program needs to be closed.
i send in a bugreport with the log-server files etc (nr 99670) with !attention tenitigo

Downloaded the Singularity patch and when I ran it the program gave errors, it went to the repair tool option to try fix it and finished with checksum mismatch. Downloaded it again...same error. Buggy software

I'm so happy I could kiss you... Well maybe not that much; however, Singularity patch solved the problems my computer was having. I had the same problems with the patch and repair tools. I just downloaded the whole patch manually and it worked.

Edited by: Jinjer Ninja on 24/08/2010 15:20:58 well I downloaded the fallback patch at 14mB compared to the 1MB on other link. That also failed until I right clicked and installed patch as administrator of my laptop. That loaded singularity but the cluster shut down just as I entered, trying again now I don't know if singularity is offline or its my program that cant connect.
