Which assault frigate would you say has best dps?
Im trained in caldari skills but hadnt trained no frigate V till now, so it aint really an issue to cross train to any other. I can passively tank shield exceptionally, but have active tank OK for armor tank as well. (do note i can not use T2 armor upgrades, while shield is all trained pretty puch to fullest, plus I can use most T2 missiles while other shooters are pretty much basic)
What do you recommend? Pure DPS and survivability in low sec is important. I plan on doing PvE, not PvP there.

Ishkur.
Wolf & Retribution are both decent as well.
Jaguar is the shield tanker though, but it's lower DPS than the rest. ___________________

If I were going to do PvE in an assault ship, it would be a Wolf. I have decent skills and I'm getting almost 200dps out of mine with no exotic or expensive fittings/ammo. I just use passive shield tank with the crazy-nice natural resists and have a ball against em/therm enemies.

seeing as you have shield skills, and missile skills, i would go for the hawk or vengeance. i know not as powerful as the others, but will give u a valuable insight as to how to fly them, and a bit of fun while u train for one of the others

The wolf has the best combination of firepower and projection thereof. You can get a higher paper DPS but only if you're within 1km as an enyo.

retribution, considering the fact that you can do optimal range dps up to 17-18km and change crystal for moar at close range too bad it's got only 1 mid :(

Can't beat the jag for pure pve goodness. Nice solid 180 dps with selectable damage type and a very very nice frigate level passive shield tank to let you absorb the initial high alpha dps of most exploration sites till you kill off enough of them. Flip the amp to a rat specific one and stick a codebreaker and analyser in your cargo then go out and pve to your hearts delight. Oh and switch the faction ammo out for normal t1 while you kill the majority of the frig and cruiser rats till you get to the bs and elite bc.

Sabre
Proper fit (slap in some AX-1, SX-1 and CX-1 implants, don't be a bum) will do 300+ dps and still have the possibility of rat-specific shield buffering/tanking cuz of 4 JUICY mid slots.
In low-sec either one of two things will happen: - local pirates will get confused as to what a sabre is doing there, perhaps its on its way to/from 0.0? scout/tackle of a 0.0 gang trailing it? - local pirates with half a brain/intel will know you are a bear try to engage you.
In 0.0 people will (and should) assume you are a (tackle) scout and they SHOULD act accordingly (not engage until they've rallied/gotten intel). In any way a DIC is less likely to be seen as a PVE ship than a solo AF (especially if you are flying one of the above mentioned high dps/tanking ones)
PS. it also has a spare high-slot for a cloak/probe launcher (zomg win!)

Hrmmm. Thats a close call tbh. It's a bit less tanky and a bit slower than the jag along with double the sig res. But then again double the dps has a quality all its own as the rats can't stress your tank if they are dead. Again hrmmm. Gonna have to fit one out now and give it a whirl to see if the paper stats make any real difference.

Well I would say that if you want dps, or USABLE dps then the bet would be on wolf/jaguar and Ishkur. Wolf and jag are more "gonna kill you" and ishkur "i'm going to annoy and then kill you". Ishkur needs a bit finesse and ideas as for wolf/jag they are straightforward killing boats, but as you are caldari...dunno.
This also means that with ishkur you need more skills (drones, ecm, turrets) as for jag/wolf you you only need turrets (i'm not counting all the basic skills for fitting etc).
All this for pvp.
For PvE i would take the ishkur because those drons help, a lot. Stop whining. |

Ishkur? Finesse?! Bah! Slap a 10MN AB in there, orbit at 50km at roughly a billion km/s, and laugh at the poor rats as your drones nibble them to bitsà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Pure DPS and survivability, to be used primarily for PvE.
Retribution.
Swaps that pesky second mid-slot for a much more useful tanking low-slot and has utility high for salvager. Range, tank and damage in one package .. damn good PvE boat.
As for what you can use: doesn't really matter since you can take skills related to any frigate to 4-5 in a month or two at most. Majority of them are forgiving enough to work even without maxed skills.
PS: If you are planning on fighting rats other than sansha/blood then consider Ishkur (for drones), Hawk (missile spam!) or any of the Minmatar boats.
