Edited by: Chroniclover on 21/08/2010 00:34:19 There's too much isk in this game and an outpost is just a floating pile is ISK.
I want to be able to play the sov game but rather than claim the outpost i want to destroy it.
As time continues ISK gets piled up and systems are becoming over populated with outposts.
The ability to fight the SOV war WITHOUT the intention of keeping, holding and defending the space, but to just maximize the hurt ISK wise and leave, is far more appealing to me.
With the destruction of outposts being available, you motivate more people into taking part in this unique function this game has (however boring) and lots more fights will occur. This is because something great and expensive runs the risk of destruction.
As for people being docked what happens to them? well initially it takes days/weeks to take an outpost/station so they would have plenty of time to get out beforehand and maybe if they hadn't gotten their stuff out by then they should lose it all and get podded, or maybe it leaves behind a wreck where you can undock from with whatever. However once you undock you cannot redock and after say another 24 hours of the stations destruction it is auto removed and anything/everything in there is destroyed. (giving yet another chance to get themselves out)
There are not enough ISK sinks in this game and there is not enough risk.

yes, it would be awesome, its CCPs turn to do something since there are more and more outposts built in the back regions of eve, which become unconquerable with the new dominion sov rules because of them.

Support.
How it should work:
1. fight for outpost 2. Mak it yours. 3. Now you're able to destroy it with a week or month countdown.
This way it wouldn't be possible to just destroy all stuff everywhere, but you should think about use this one or blow this one.

I do not agree with this. There are alot of ISK sinks in this game. Someone tries to take it over but the owner corp fights back both sides lose ships the owner of the Outpost loses it to the enemy. They try to take it back and lose more ships in the process but lose. They turn around build a new one and have to buy cretin things and get it back into their turf. The people who took the Outpost over increases the office rent. They make more money but they are fighting against another corp and they lost 1 or 2 outpost to someone else. Not to mention you have to buy Outpost upgrades if you want more offices and such they are bringing it in and there's a gate camp gang that's clocked that attack the hauler and they lose that new outpost upgrade and the ship and what ever else is in the ship.
The cost of POS fuel and other things will kinda help level out the people who have mass amounts of ISK

I really like this idea; I think I would make it a 48 hour timer that pauses when the station is in reinforced. It would be activatible by any CEO of the controlling alliance and deactivatible by any director of the controlling corporation or any CEO of the controlling alliance.
This would prevent someone from capturing stations all over just to see the world burn around them but could lead to a scorched earth campaign where an alliance leaves a barren waste behind when they vacate an area

fine the way it is, 0.0 is nowhere near saturated with outposts. Give them controllable guns if you're gonna change them at all tbh.

Make them destructible, but make them able to be captured as normal, still, as well.
It would be cool to see the husk of the outpost salvageable (A massive chunk of isk floating in space for the next week or so) or possibly repaired back into a fully functional station (yes, it sounds redundant, but what if someone destroys your station and you're able to capture the system again in time to recover the remains of the station?).

Think of the cons, say that you take a little summerpause from EVE, dum dadaa, keeping all your officer mods and belonings worth of 150B and have your ultimate clone with a perfect implant set. Then you come back and log onto a starter-station with everything gone.
All of it, lost, your alliance is disbanded, corpmates have shattered all across EVE. Without you beeing able to do **** about it you are forced to start over the game. All those years of hard work suddenly gone.
There is a reason stations are immortal, and so they shall remain.

Should've chosen better people to fly with.
Where in null can your person and belongings be perfectly safe? It's not concordland.
Leave your property in a part of the world where there is no law for a few month, and you can't reasonably expect them to remain perfectly untouched when you come back.

because you forgot to keep your clone up to date? you still have all your skills after being podded . . .

Dude, even with stations being indestructable it's still a horrible idea to leave all your assets in an outpost and then go inactive for long amounts of time. Things can change quickly while you're gone (and having all your stuff stuck in hostile space can be just as bad as having it blown up).
Just because it's pretty damn risky that you could lose your stuff, I think that's the way it should be! Why not? It SHOULD be a terrifying thought to lose an outpost, not just some "oh, we'll just take it back in a month or so and things will be back to normal and I can just not worry that all my stuff is in there".
Capturing an outpost in Eve right now is idiotic. You capture it after bringing it back from the brink of death and... What can you do? You now own this thing that used to belong to your enemies and what can you even do about it? You can't loot or pillage. It's just there forever until they either decide to sell it or sneak it out somehow. How is that logical AT ALL.
Conquering outposts is the goddamn hello kitty pink fluffy bull**** world of Eve- it would do well to have some more grunge and dirt that makes the Eve universe the dark, scary place it is.
Oh, and obviously... Unless CCP does make outposts destructible at some point, null sec will inevitably end up with more and more outposts over time... with no way to lower their population.

He does make a good point. Most smart people always have backup stuff in high sec just in case they get ran out of null sec and had no time to get things out.
I always try to have stuff all over the system because if I get ran out of 1 area or w/e I can easily just drop every thing in that area and go to one of the other areas I have stuff in

idea....
Why not make it so that if an outpost is destructable that shoudl you have items in it when it blows up its mearly moved to the closest system with a jump clone, failing having no clones the closest system in high sec that friendly. this would be a Admin type action that is simply accepted , this way any one who wants to blow up a station can ( and get that big boom) , and on the other side of the argument the players who where in the station dont lose anything. so both sides will be happy.

CCP has a bad habit of closing their eyes to the unavoidable futures they have created. As an example, there are multiple aspects of Eve that have no cap other than "lag", which is an unrealistic meter to govern your game by. The current future of Eve leaves pretty much all null sec regions populated by outposts simply because it's the "next step" of Sov.
Essentially there will be a point in Eve where, without additional systems, building outposts will no longer be a part of the game simply because all systems are occupied. Sooner yet, outposts will no longer be "necessary" simply because of the sheer number of existing ones. (This is an extreme point but it can be achieved, which is the problem)
CCP is a bright bunch. They've created a great game so far. But they, like many others, have some terrible issues with "band aid" fixes. Things that are only covering up what's there while the real issue festers underneath, unsolved.
The point is, as time goes on things that hardly even seem like a "problem" now can become something that severely limits the game in the future.
Eh. And **** it. You really should be able to blow up a goddamn station. To hell with panzy rainbow carebear land- If it can be built it should be able to be blown the **** up. It keeps the planets spinning.

I've always envisioned destroyable outposts, and eventually full stations. My understanding about it is that CCP won't do it yet because of players stuff in the station and the fact that stations are supposed to be the "safe" zones of EVE.
My idea is to have them be destructible, but the vault with everbodies stuff in it is ejected into space, and can be accessed like a POS from the outside. You'll still have your items/ship tabs, corp tabs, delivery tab, and so on, but you'll have to access it from the outside.
Basically turn it into an un-dockable outpost with no services.
You want to dock again? Get insurance? Jump Clones? Then build a new outpost around it.

Maybe instead of being completely destroyed they become derelict after you blow them up. nobody can dock at derelict stations but you can still undock.
To repair the derelict station you would have to stock it with minerals and repair parts (possible PI items) and wait a certain amount of time, restocking with building materials as necessary.
After the appropriate amount of time the station is fixed and becomes usable again.
Once DUST is released you would have to contract Mercs to capture a station intact. Otherwise you would need to destroy it and rebuild it.

I agree with this 150%. not only will this keep alliances who dont deserve outposts from having them but it will also keep pets from getting help from their owners after their outposts get taken.
