<hehehe> Well, well. What do we have here. Someone who likes to scream alot with their comms open. <Sits there and closes his eyes, as to relive past events, with his smile twisting into a gleefuly grin> I always enjoyed things like that, and it only gets better with time. It's like wine, the longer it ages the better the taste. <hahaha>

Oh thats nothing, I once screamed for a full week after surviving a bombing run during an incursion into Geminate. The hull of the basilisk was creaking like bloody murder, if anything can make you lose your mind its that sound...

Well-- that is one way this is unusual.
How often do we actually get to hear one of our peers scream?

It's really all about the bugs... and they must be space bugs. Because, like, they're invading his pod, in space. which makes them a new lifeform. Are they intelligent? Do they have something to teach us? Do they want to enslave us? Or just eat us?

It's not a new plague - it's an old one.
They live where the light comes from and guess why everybody shys away from looking directly into the light? If you see them - they see you. So nature has set it that everybody shys away from looking into the light. Those who have seen the light are already dead. Not by the bugs.
The bugs are just the vessel. It is what they bear. The real horror. And they come if you have seen them.
I can only speculate about what they bear. What the real horror is. Because nobody is alive to tell. You just find a wreck that once was a human. His tougue blue and stretched out of his mouth. You see blood chunks that he vomited out, chunks that once were his vocal chords.
You see bloodshot eyes. You see that he was ripping his hair out and stuffed it into his mouth. To stop his screaming.
And it's not about the bugs. It's about what they carry. They live in the light.

And exactly how would we do that? Making the very large assumption that this is not, in fact, all in your head, it sounds as though you lost a round to the rogue drones. The most we're going to be able to do is blow your ship out from around you.
... For which purpose, it would be helpful if you'd give us a system and ship name so that you can be tracked.
In any case, pilot:

I had bugs once. Turns out just getting in and out of your pod and toweling off doesn't count as a "bath." A little more lice killing shampoo and less time in the seedier parts of Minmatar stations works wonders... |

I can help you with that. I hope. If you are fast and if you are determined, you might be able to safe yourself. Take something like this.
Alica holds up a simple drill and after pressing the button the motor begins to howl and the drill spins fiercely.
Listen to me closely. They are after your light. They can see the light that is in your head, the light of thousand thoughts that never got out. That are caught inside and the superiority of your mind is not fitting into the small skull of your head anymore. Those creatures are after your light. So act fast and swiftly. Do not fear.
You set the drill here. A bit sideways of the forehead.
She holds up a skull and sets the drill on the head. Under the whirring noise of the drill she puts a hole in that thing.
Now in the moment you pull the drill out, the light will blind you. You will see flashes of light that try to get out. So be prepaired. See this asian eating stick? You might either take one of these or a simple pencil. You push that into the hole and try to get all the light out of there. Scratch it where it itches. That is your only hope. Scratch hard as you can! Try to get rid of that itch! But you must do that now! Do not let them get ya!
She pulls out the drill from the skull and the cam has a whiteout from the light that is coming from within.

Well, that or medical finally managed to get him detached from comms.
Or the drones did the drilling for him.
And the brain-scrambling.
Or perhaps they just scooped it out of his noggin and are storing it in a jar for later. Has anyone ever looked into whether the rogue drones employ any kind of wetware?
... Probably not. All those nutrients they'd need ... though that might explain why they'd risk attacking ships, come to think of it.

who knows, maybe they want to take you to their magical sparkle kingdom in the clouds... of interstellar hydrogen gas.
Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. You could publish a documentary after you're done. "Drones in the mist", "The hidden World of Drones", that sort of thing.
and hey, if the kill you... oh well. you're a capsuleer, you'll bounce back. -

Have you considered making your way to engineering and rig the jump-drive to set off a massive EMP pulse through what ever shield generators that remain? Edited by: iyammarrok on 07/09/2010 20:05:56 thorax eh???
armaments??
first thing i would do is get the hell out of the cargo pod. you do not have long in there before they scan you down.
moving to the primary bridge would be a bad plan, as that will be the primary interface point, other than your pod's uplink (though even rogue drones will have some difficulty finding a way past the jovian encryption involved in your pod's interface and functions.)
once you are clear, get to the armament bays. and seek out some ammo. hybrid charges are made of a (usually unstable) material inside a magnetic field, through use of one of your railguns, or blasters, with some minor modifications, that you should be able to manage (cross blue & purple, and then cross green and orange, do not re-wire the other way, you'll cause the hybrid weapon to fry itself), you should be able to set the hybrid weapon to cause a major EMP upon firing.
now for the hard part.
you need to cause a distraction to pull the drones away from your pod.
now, these will be small drones, capable of moving around within a ship, so if you can find a survivor among your crew, that will make this part easier.
otherwise, a resistor, and some current from an engineering console will do, attach a charge or 5 to the current, with resistor or crew member present to give you time to move before the drones react, and the current, if strong enough will disable the magnetic shielding, causing either a radiation leak (with plutonium/iridium atc charges) or a rather hefty explosion, should you be using antimatter. this should draw drones to engineering like wasps to honey.
giving you time to get back into your pod, and fire the weapon you have already rigged.
as these are small drones, the EMP should disable them for long enough for you to find an escape pod that was unused by your crew, or repair enough of your pod to make it spaceworthy again, then merely undock your pod from the ship after setting the self destruct, destroying the remaining drones, and any that are close enough to your exploding vessel.
note, gallente vessels use high power fusion reactors to give them momentum. you will need to either self destruct while your pod is in the safety of it's bay, (the most well protected part of a ship) or release your pod and move clear of the blast radius quickly.
note 2... if you use any missile launchers, then rigging some EM warheads to explode would be faster and more reliable than jury rigged hybrid weapons.
if all else fails, get into a part of the ship with zero gravity, and temporarily electrify the entire substructure of your ship. that should kill anything that is touching a wall/floor/ceiling
then go to the armoury and pull out a firearm, or plasma weapon (most armament lockers on space-vessels are insulated from electrical shock to stop random weapon discharges during combat) also take a motion scanner, and go hunter killer. you may not win, but, since you fled your pod, any chance is better than none.
had you remained in your pod, and died, you would now be alive again, - 1 thorax... self destruct would have seen to the drone infestation too.
essay over.
good luck. you sound like you need it.
