I reality the hydra is a very tiny micro-organism that lives in the water and is one of the only known life forms that dose not go through senescence. If the heat changes or the food source dwindles the hydra will no longer be able to constantly slosh off its cells in favor of new ones. This means it will be forced into its own mortality in that without the ability to rapidly slosh off older cells it will eventually die.
I have studied hydras in biology class before, I did experiments on them in my own free time after everybody had left for the night. I learned things....

Hydra are very interesting in that they have gametes throughout their body (reproductive cells, like eggs and sperm). As a result, they are able to regenerate any part of their body. They also end up being essentially immortal, since their original genetic code is preserved in an undamaged state throughout their body. You can cut them up, and each piece has a good chance of growing back into a new hydra, similarly to how you can cut an earthworm in half and get two functional worms.
Note that one of the main causes of aging is that when a cell divides, the telomere in its DNA is shortened during the copying process (it's basically a long piece of code that forms the ending of the DNA). When the telomere becomes short enough, the cells can no longer divide. In human cells, there is a sort of automatic "cutoff switch" that tells the cells to stop dividing once the telomere gets short enough - this is believed to be a mechanism meant to get rid of older cell lines, which are more likely to be damaged (which leads to decreased efficiency and sometimes cancer). So, by maintaining a large amount of first generation DNA carriers, the hydra avoids all these issues.
On the other hand, the hydra is a very quiet, low metabolism creature. That's because it spends most of its energy maintaining the pristine state of its DNA. So if humans wanted to employ the same strategy, we would be sacrificing a lot, which is why it's a very rare thing to see in nature.
Your preaching to the choir. I know all about hayflax limits and telomeres. I have done extensive research into gene therapy and the possibilities of genetic enhancement post-maturity. Very interesting stuff but discussing it here kind of puts me out of character.

Thats Hayflick's limit, and dont hold your breath waiting for gene therapy to make us a race of super humans. I suggest you start eating right and exercising.

I do eat right and I hit the gym often at least 3 times a week. So do not worry about that. Just because I abstain from violence dose not mean I am not capable of causing it.
Back on topic though.

Did the same to my "chop its head off" comment earlier.. I'm really starting to get worried about the general level of intelligence in your average C&P poster these days.

Thats just it... They don't accept everything. They kicked me because I told the members the truth about the providence invasion. I threw a wrench in their deception perpetuated command structure. You are right that if they were open and accepted everything then they would be harder to kill.
However since that is not the case then what they choose not to accept will be their salvation.
There is still time. If anybody wants to be a hero and give me 1.7bil isk or anything above 1.4 bil. Then Hydra's dept will be paid by that person. I will let this thread go on for a little longer and then I will tally up votes and render my decision.

If people start trying to use philosophy quotes to refute my arguments then I am going to take the gloves off.
That said plato made that statement in a time when woman did not have any measure of power nor were they critiqued on their use of it. Power is not a absolute or a fluid form. Power is purely situational and in no capacity is its use or containment guaranteed.
A good example is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ It is powerful now primarily because of the amount of attention placed on it.

I think its hilarious that everyone who has replied and is actually IN Hydra is saying go for it because we all want to know how you are going to go about it.. Also, you have to get in before we fail cascade on our own (and you cant call that as your doing)
