I'm getting tired of the typical procedure for running havens and sanctums with a battleship, and contemplating a heavy assault ship for a more interactive approach (this means no sentry Ishtar). I'm in Serpentis space, so Caldari or Gallente seemed indicated for tank reasons. I worked out what I imagine is a pretty generic Deimos fit, but since there are practically no fittings for it on battleclinic or scrapheap, I'm not sure of that. Please let me know what you think in the context of solo/group haven/sanctum running against Serpentis.
High: 5x Heavy Ion Blaster II
Mids: 2x Cap Recharger II 10MN MicroWarpdrive I
Lows: Tracking Enhancer II 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Medium Armor Repairer II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II
Rigs: Medium Auxilary Nano Pump I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Drones: 5x Hammerhead II
With all Level V skills and standard ammo, this puts out 598dps at 2.2+9.8km

Your brave even mentioning that ship on these forums.
And the lack of any fits might tell you what the general populace feel about it and most can't be arsed to tinker with it I gather.
But seems a fairly standard fit although why you wouldnt want to use the Ishtar I don't know.
Horses for Course i guess

The Ishtar seems a great ship and all, but I'm tired of sitting in one place and pounding distant enemies or letting the drones do all the work. I mean, as far as I've experienced lately, they could turn off the models for npc ships and I wouldn't notice since their icons are still there. That, to me, seems to indicate a playstyle change is in order! I figured I would get a lot of "Diemost" responses, but since we're talking pve I figured there might be SOMEBODY left that enjoyed the wtfbbqmelturface kind of approach to rats. :-)

Yes. Thanks for your valuable contribution. Funny, I don't remember asking if I should use a Deimos, just fitting advice. Guess I just forgot typing that part...

You want to PvE in ship, which is screaming "I'm not suited for PvE" What reactions do you expect? Are you seriously going to fly up to every rat with those stupid blasters and craptastic tank?
If you are sadomazo, why even use Deimos then, use Exequror and prove you are the man. There are reasons people use Ishtar, and those reasons are many.

You're kidding, right? The thing goes 1500km/s, so yes, I would fly up to every rat instead of staring numbly at the screen as the ship automatically kills things for me. Craptastic tank? Have you ever fitted or used one of these ships? With the high native resists, that's over 300dps rat specific tank... and if I put some cash into it, I'll break 350 AND be able to permarun the MWD (not that you'd need to). So much for forum wisdom... if it's not the flavor of the week with the l33t pvpers nobody actually bothers.

you want to permarun the MWD with a blaster fit and no web ?

my 3 cents:
1) in PVE rails are better than blasters. try to fit 200mm rails ( and light drones for fast frigates).
2) No matter how much you will try, a dual repped brutix will be always better ( and cheaper ) choice
3) Not considering Astarte and Eos

Maybe instead of 2 cap rechargers in the mids you could use a cap booster and a web instead. Since you would then have a web to hold down your targets you could prob drop the TE and replace it with another mag-stab. Also, since your using a cap booster to supplement your cap you could replace the CCC rig with something else.
I dont fly the diemost so im not sure how well that would work, but just some ideas.

These are setups I considered using for PvE Deimos fits. Ultimately, I decided not to use them, because flying from rat to rat is a terrible waste of time. Not to mention that Medium Railguns especially suck for PvE.

--- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

It's similar to what I used to fly for fun (rather than profit) in L4s, but that was before the TE/TC falloff changes.
These days, I would probably suggest a TE+Null setup, since you can actually get some rather nice range out of your blasters in a Diemost, but I haven't EFT:ed anything up. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Blaster Deimos is very very good for guristas ratting ... Far better then my sacri or drake ... on pair with ishtar if you do not waste time to salvage. Very good for that. Eternal Will. |

Ah, constructive discussion, that's what I've been looking for! Thank you for the suggestions, particularly about the cap booster/web and null ammo - I will give both of those a try. I'm looking forward to enjoying ratting, even if I make less money doing it.

Just ask Ahrpad for some money. As long as he's still buying isk and fitting faction cyno lokis, he'll be able to give you much more isk/hour than ratting. |

No.... Unless you can get over 700 dps out of the diemos, the 550 rat spec dps to 50km, and 490 plus to 90km says otherwise for sanctums and havens.
