I was told that if I'm in a BS and I use my heavy Nos on any rat ship smaller than a BS, then I won't actually leach cap power... is this true? Or will it leach off of all ships regardless of size?

NOS will leach off of it for as long as the NPC's capacitor % is higher than your own.
Putting a heavy NOS on a frigate rat would quickly drain its cap, causing its % to become lower than your own, and thus any further NOS'ing would be meaningless.
PVE NOS = NOS the biggest ship you can find, and if you can, try to NOS as many different rats as get into your range to minimize the chance of you NOSing his % of cap lower than your own. __________________________________________________

As far as I know NOS against an NPC target always works, but only for a short time before diminishing returns kick in and reduce their output dramatically. A ship smaller than yourself won't last very long before the energy output drops of sharply, requiring that you switch targets often. It does work however. I sometimes mission/rat in an Ashimmu who's cap while tanking lasts 1m20s without NOS running, and while I need to switch targets often, it works really well. So NPC NOSing can work just fine.

All NPCs have a set amount of cap you can Nos. Larger ships have a larger reservoir than smaller ones. It has nothing to do with relative cap amounts. This is based off my recollection from the patch notes.
You used to able to Nos wrecks... Indefinitely iirc. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |
