Edited by: Valkerias on 07/09/2010 13:17:00 How's this? Could an option be added to the command center which would allow players to "engage all inactive extractors 30 min, 5 hour, 23 hour, 4 day?" Just think about it, a player with an account can have 3 characters, each character has up to 6 planets, each planet can have (on average with and advanced command center) 20 extractor, each extractor takes 4 clicks to set up the extraction, that's over 1000 mouse clicks! And that's with just one account, imagine dual accounts or more! The "activate all" option on the command center would reduce those thousands of clicks into maybe 24 (click command center, click "activate all," click the setting, click "install.") per account, tops. It would reduce considerably the amount of time that players stay "station hugging" while micromanaging their colonies, especially when the resources to extract are relatively far apart. Players who want their extractors to run at different rates can still click their extractors directly (say click all their barren noble metals for 30 min and then head to command center and click "All inactive" for everything else). Input please.

Can't agree more! Now it just generates RSI.... Would love to see this option in the command centers!

I agree with this as well, doing planetary stuff requires more clicking then 6 hours of play.

As the Command Center is nothing more than a cargo hold for some, let's make it an actual Command Center by issuing commands from it. (I predominately use launchpads so I never even use mine) As we need them to build we might as well use them in a realistic purpose. i.e. I want this group to run on a 5hr cycle and this group to run on 23hr cycle. With the option of "run last cycle" to cut down on the actual clicks needed.

I think there is good reason why it is not possible. With 5 colonies you can make nice 15 mil a day in high sec or 25-30 mil in low/null sec. With single click this will be too easy. I can make about 10 mil per hour doing lvl 4 mission and I have to be focused most of the time. Now with PI I can make 15 mil per day doing 15 minutes of clicking 1-2 times a day. Only real problem here is that people want to make much ISK for (if possible) no effort.

There's a difference between "reasonable effort" and "RSI inducing clickfest."
Imagine of you had to load ammo manually every time you magazine emptied, and you had to double click to start weapons firing? You wouldn't like that would you?
It would be nice to be able to group extractors and set the whole group to extract on one of the given schedules. Even being limited to grouping extractors by type would be wonderful. Note that we can group weapons on starships, this is the same deal, except modules on ships even have shortcut keys so you don't need to click anything! Ctrl-R to reload all weapons, F1 to fire the group of 8 weapons at the currently selected target. And when the magazine runs out, the weapons auto-reload to boot! So mission running is really just a case of ctrl-clicking targets and pressing F1 when the weapons stop firing.

Please gods yes. Lowering the mouse clicking effort ISN'T going to suddenly increase the amount of money people are making. They're still extracting at the same rate, they're still having to gather up the stuff to sell it, etc.
If anything, the market prices on these goods will drop, if it's easier to produce the stuff, and people will end up making the same amount or less.

I like your proposal, and there have been many related ideas posted about the best way to eliminate the cliick fest. Some related possibilities are : "resume previous operations" command, or simply allow the extractors and factories to continue processing and operating until all available storage space fills up (just like a mining barge).
For those who say eliminating the click fest would make PI profits too easy, I contend that clicking is NOT the hard part. Clicking is the tedious part that can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome.
The hard part (meaning risky) is transporting the PI products out of low/null sec to high sec where they can be easily sold. Even in a transport ship, there are tasks that leave the PI Tech exposed. Like anything in EvE, if you conduct your affairs stupidly, you will die. In this regard, PI is more risky than L4 missions in high sec.
CCP : please eliminate the click fest by giving our "Command Centers" some sensible commands to control our PI installations.
