Original Topic Here
I decided I would revive that OP's topic in a new thread considering it burned out. I've been thinking about this a lot, myself, and we seem to agree on most points. I figured I would take a shot at it, propose my list of ideas here, and once it's been discussed and refined I would take it to the assembly hall for official presentation.
So here's the information.
Nullsec and many aspects of this game are dominated by massive blob factions in 0.0. Most players in Eve find this to be highly detrimental to gameplay in many fashions, mainly by making 0.0 full of alliances that can't even fully make use of the space they have conquered. This cuts off access to newer players who wish to experience the joys and anguish of trying to hold sovereign space in the lawless reaches of Null Sec.
With the relative success of Wormholes and the functioning PVP located within, it provides a strong basis for my proposition and how I suspect PVP to function once introduced. In a similar fashion, the way that capital ships and large fleets interact with wormholes (As in... they are hard to move between them) I see mechanics I would like carried over to this idea.
This proposition's purpose:
- To exemplify the types of PVP seen in wormholes, while providing new and exciting ways to field combat ships in a totally foreign environment for Player vs Player interaction.
- To provide safe(ish) havens for small player entities allowing the existence of player pirate alliances that exist under the radar like the existing NPC Guristas/Angels/Etc.
- To provide small groups the (heavily) limited benefits of 0.0 life under specialized conditions allowing players to exist in a self sustained environment.
Details in the next post. To be continued...

Deadspace as we know it:
Dead space is known to Eve Players as the points in Eve where you do pirate complexes and make a lot of money.
Some important details about Dead Space:
- Warp Drives do not function.
- Microwarpdrives don't function.
- The only way to get somewhere is via acceleration gate, or flying for a very... very long time.
(Placeholder. Posting to keep the spot in the thread, but editing in the rest of the info atm)

Edited by: Rhadia on 08/09/2010 03:34:23 We all know about Sansha's dawdling with Wormhole Tech and actually having some breakthroughs with using wormholes as a transportation device.
Perhaps in-game this could be because of how Wormholes interact with Dead Space (something that is not able to be observed by capsuleers, but is greatly available to the pirates who live in the pockets).
Upon implementation of Dead Space interaction, it would be... very interesting if wormholes had an adverse reaction to Dead Space pockets as opposed to how they react with normal space.
Questions? Concerns? Comments? Lets get the kinks worked out of this idea and start pressuring CCP for implementation.
Then the true pirating can begin.

The idea of it taking days or weeks to get somewhere, and more importantly the possibility of getting stuck with weeks to get out of deadspace is, of course, pants-on-head ******ed, no points for OP.
points for other poster though, might be interesting to turn pockets of deadspace into a resource. have wandering pockets of deadspacedifferent to current deadspace implementation ala missions, definitely somewhat rarer) that can be scanned, and wormholes bridged between them?

It's absolutely no different than the when someone gets trapped in wormhole space without probes, and has to either wait for a friend to come show them the way out, or pod themselves back to society.
At least in this one, you could get out if you're in a decently fast ship that can autopilot the distance, or have a friend easily come save you (because he/she knows where you are, rather than relying on chance to get the right wormhole again).

Speaking of using wormholes as a transportation device, as we all know there are some wormholes that connect different k-space systems to each other randomly. But what if we could remove that randomness and create a device that allows you to intentionally create a wormhole to bridge systems together. Its sort of like creating a titan bridge, but its a wormhole that opens and stays open for 24 hours or however long wormholes stay open, or until a certain mass has passed through. I'm thinking along the lines of a more affordable titan bridge, obviously you wouldn't want this to be used for capital ship movements, so the player made wh bridge would have a maximum jump mass less than that of any cap ship, orca or freighter, and perhaps just a little bit heavier than that of a BS. Of course I'm trying to come up with balancing options on the fly here....
TL;DR Allow players to intentionally control where wormholes open up to connect 2 k-space systems together.

Totally not the intentional subject of this thread, but I would really rather not see too much control over Wormholes. Between Jump bridges and Jump Freighters, logistics has become too easy already, but that's a discussion for another thread.

Is this really all the discussion I could get out of this community? Where's all the flamers and trolls I'm used to? At least they keep my threads out of the 5th page.

There's some merit in OP, but I don't get one thing - WHERE that dead space is supposed to be located?
Something like mission dungeons inside K-space solar systems?

Anywhere in a system. They would occur randomly on the edges, or throughout a system in varying sizes and values of the materials inside.
