sorry dont mean to start off my gaming in EVE complaining but its really annoying. is there a good reason for this? kind of kills the RP immersion aspect a bit and frustrating finding a good hiding spot, mining spot, other, log out and find yourself traveling to the nearest warp gate or facility on log in. i dont go through all the trouble to get lost in space only to find myself chapparoned back to civilization every time. ok /rant off

When you log off in space your ship emergency warps you to 1 AU where your ship sits for 2 mins (unless aggroed in which case enemies have 15 mins to scan you down) before disappearing. When you log in it warps you back to where you logged off
Use your probes to find a wormhole, but ditch all your probes before going in and warp somewhere in the wh. Then you be lost in space
And don't bookmark the wormhole on the other side Signature locked for editing a moderator's warning. Zymurgist |

When you log off/disconnect in space, your ship will (try to) e-warp out someplace. When you log back in, your ship, if it still exists, will warp back to your last location. (Or at the start of the complex if you were in one)
If you're out in the boonies, stopped, alone, and log out, that's where you'll end up when you log back in. Your ship will warp back to the same place you logged out at.
(Seriously, make a nice spot out away from stuff, drop a can and log off. You'll see.) _______________________________

What you said makes it sound like you are logging off inside a mission or other deadspace area. In that case you cannot warp back to the deadspace pocket and will always re-appear at the gate to that pocket. This has nothing to do with logoff mechanics per se. If you make a bookmark inside a deadspace pocket and try to warp to it the same thing will happen, likewise if another pilot tries to warp to you while you're in the deadspace.
