Hello
Is it necessary to up extractor vs processor ratios so they match up exactly?
Ie I read if extractor collects 1500 and processor needs 3000, then use a two to one ratio
However If I am using a launch pad to store on the way through, is it beneficial to have more extractors ~ as stuff can get get stored while waiting for processors to finish
For example assume I use a five hour extract time and check it twice per day. If I go 2 vs 1 I create process goods for five hours.
If I go 4 vs 1 I still extract for five hours, but the launch pass still keeps passing on item to the processors for 10 hours - doubling my processed goods?
Have I got the mechanics right in assuming that launchpad will continue to pass on items to processors after extractors have finished?
Cheers

No, extractor/processor rates do not have to match exactly.
Yes, the launch pad, command centre or storage array can act as a buffer between the extractors and the processors. In fact, I would highly recommend that every extraction planet be configured with a launchpad as the "hub" between the extractors and the processors.

the way i have historically done it on the few planets that i do extract is 4:1 ration
at start of day i do a 30minute cycle to fill the extractors up, then once i have a 2 cycles of p0 in the flight pad i put it on 23hour, most of time this is enough to keep the factories working until the next day, I then rinse 'n' repeat.
Just an easy way if your busy in r/l
if not just shove on 5 hour cycles then every 24hours empty, you will find that (high sec planets) next day you will have anything from 500>1.2mill spare p0 and the factories constantly working

Like the others said allready - you don't need to match it exactly, but if the buffer on the processor is full, the spare materials are wasted and cannot be recovered. The best way to avoid waste is to use a buffer like you mentioned.
The exact ratio depends on the planet you're at - in 0.0 or a WH system you can easily use 2 extractors per processor and have spare p0 products, in highsec you'll need more.

I route everything extracted to a launchpad. I then route materials from the launchpad to the processors, and the finished products back to the launchpad. The launchpad acts as a buffer (especially since I only run two or three 5 hour duration cycles a day).
If the launchpad continues to fill-up, I remove an extractor and replace it with another processor.
For example, extracting in hisec at 1275 unit/15 minute cycle, I have 13 extractors and 6 processors, but at 500 unit/15 minute cycle I have 16 extractors and 3 processors.
