Flavor text says: Commissioned by the four ruling tribes of the Republic, the Tribal Issue of their Fleet's key vessel is presented only to those who have displayed unyielding valor in the Republic's interest, and a tireless commitment to maintaince of the Tribes' precious freedom. Given the ship's status as a badge of honour, it is not uncommon for pilots or ship crew to add special tattoos to their anatomy, celebrating both the gift of the ship and the honour of piloting it.
So why is it, the only way to obtain one is to win an alliance tourney? That's a display of unyeilding valor and tireless commitment to the republic? Join a null sec alliance and win a contest? Same with the other three empire issue battleships. I'm not saying they should be readily availible to everyone, but from an RP point of view (this is a pvp based rpg btw) it makes no sense. I mean with all the back story out there, all the new additions to the game like FW, epic story arcs, and whenever "station walking" is added, all this stuff that's supposed to draw you more into the eve universe, shouldn't there be another way to prove your loyalty to whichever of the 4 empires you choose and earn one of these ships?
One per account, EVER, is all I'm asking. Make it require huge effort, but make it possible. Add a pvp based requirement as if you like. I'm not saying they should go to mission monkeys. Add a required time in game if needed. Make it FW based if you want. Just please, make it possible AND make a little bit of sense with the eve backstory.
P.S. custom tattoos to go with the ship would be awesome as well. Just sayin'.

It is entirely possible now to get one of these ships. All it requires is ISK. No special grinding or PvP or FW necessary.

Your missing the point. The thing that makes rare ships cool is the fact that they are rare. See that is why they are cool. Not everyone has one.
CNRs aren't cool. Tempest Tribal is. Notice the difference?

I never asked for them to be common. Should they really be so rare that no one ever flies them? How is an item only for rediculously wealth collectors "cool"? Is there a museum you go see them in. Do players have mansions they can display them to thier friends in? How is it cool to have a ship, in a space ship game, that no one ever sees?
I think you're missing the point. It's a war ship for the most loyal supporters of the 4 major empires. They are meant to be used. Make some other useless ship or item the "one off" no one can get "cool" collectable. How many yahts are out there? The golden magnate is long gone years ago. There's only a few silver out there. How many of these are even on active acounts now?
I really don't see the point of a "collectable" in a game. They mean nothing to most players, and even less to everyone who doesn't play the game. That's most of human race, btw. Bragging about your awesome sauce "Tempest Tribal Issue" is gonna score you all kinds of cool points in the real world. Probably a worse idea then bragging about any wow related here.

Don't worry, pretend they don't exist, you will never fly them anyway.
You want to fight in a collectors item, join the tournaments and win. Besides that you don't get these ships!
But hey spit in the face of everyone who won it or spent billions to buy it!

Edited by: Torothanax on 09/09/2010 16:17:44 That's what I've been doing for the last 4 years. I guess I just like to point out inconsistancies.
Maybe they should revise the flavor text.

And who says they are used by supporters of the empire? In EVE you can fly anyship and alliance competition prizes are handed out during an event thats not even part of the back lore of EVE. Those ships are the "pride" of that empire just by being built and flown, like a german car company that builds cars and driven by people outside of europe. Anyway, even everyone had one per account and obtainable do you think you would be able to fly them? The primae and zephyr are a good indication of what happens when everyone is given an obtainable ship, it becomes a collectable item because the majority of EVE have this mentaility to destroy shiny things.

You might work on your forum skills. Let me fix that quote there for you. Originally by: Monte Shill And who says they are used by supporters of the empire? Then I guess they'd still be rare. Just because everyone would be allowed one, doesn't mean everyone would actually get one if there were other, difficult requirements.
I'd fly mine if I had one. Probably not all that often, but it'd come out occasionally. I fly all my ships from time to time. But then again, even my rare ships can be replaced. You can't really replace an empire issue battleship right now can you?
My point is why have the flavor text and backstory on the ships, if it's not actually supported in game?

No one else has an opinion on these ships? Should they be more availible? Should the flavor text just be changed? Should they just be left alone like every other inconsistancy CCP hasn't gotten around to?

I'd support changing the flavor text to reflect their actual history, rather than the inconsistent one you pointed out. I notice the more recent alliance tournament limited edition ships reflect this, so maybe the older ones can be ret-conned accordingly.
For example Mimir's flavor text says stuff like "Highly experimental", "rarely seen", "given out to select pilots for excellence in combat", while the Tempest Tribal Issue's flavor text says "presented only to those who have displayed unyielding valor in the Republic's interest".

Hm interesting Idea. I agree that it would be great to get the chance also to get this rare ship...not only these Battleships, maybe also other ships which ahd been given during the last years...like guardian vexor or others. They could maybe also made available but LP shops...only by goverment and been factor 5 or six more expensive in LP and isk than a common empire faction ship of compared size.
I also agree the point faction ships should not be mainly used as collectable items...they are for using.
Btw. If i could request some moe faction ships i would like to see some faction battlecruisers..empire and pirate...as well as a second frigate for empire and pirate factions, a second cruiser and a second bs for pirates....maybe as well faction T2 ships (standard faction ship it needed, a faction T2 bpc and T2 ship parts to build) from all faction...

Edited by: Torothanax on 14/09/2010 18:30:03 I wouldn't be against more faction ships. Kinda off topic but whatever. Maybe a couple new factions as well, to support race combos we don't have currently.
