I ran into one of my old alliance executors in another game (no, not World of Woecraft) and we got to chatting. I grabbed the discussion.
Someone - Never know. Anything is better than Eve these days.
Someone Else - well get it for like 3 months and see how you feel about it and with others etc
Someone - That's how it works. I got a person and others into eve, now they're pulling me into their games and leaving Eve, and me when I was still there, behind.
Someone Else - its about playing with friends etc
Someone - That's why it's an MMO... that's why they're *all* MMOs.
Someone Else - but i have to admit in --, compared to eve, there is that thing that does not call me back to eve, you know that thing MUST log in eve and check it.. etc. for me its gone....
Someone - Same here. Esp since my industrial core is gone.
Someone - And now... *LOL* How many T2 BPOs are going out of production, eh? ;p 13 here. You have/had how many?
Someone Else - well you could rent m out to be build by others... 44.
Someone - Bugger that. Let 'em collect dust. Hell, I have 14 thousand units of Scorch, in all sizes, that was just sitting there in my hangar unsold.
Someone Else - hehe and you just could not give a f about as well....
Someone - Pretty much. They were all out of production months ago. I was up to 13b before I terminated my accounts. I'm transferring all of my assets to an alt right now. Once that's done I'll cancel and be done.
Someone - I might go back when this 'Incarna' thing comes out but it smacks far too much of 'Second Life' plus a FPS in planets. Second Life is not a game, it's a social site, and shifting something like it to Eve has *never* gone over well with me.
Someone Else - something in eve simply died for me last year.. and never came back i would like to not have put so much effort and see how little it meant at all, so i have asked others to take the lead so i can be background role, show up some times maybe help some here and there etc, but no more running the show.
Someone - I never liked 'running the show', in any game. I am a follower, always have been a follower, an yet people shove me into the leadership position far too often. Eve did that, and I let an entire alliance die (not that it was big to begin with). So I ran my little corp, made my little money, and it just got more and more boring... and now It's just like... why the f bother logging in? To check a skill, a build que, click 700 times for a few raw materials... come on, that was so damned annoying it drove me *away*.
Someone Else - yah big time, but i think eve was their own demise in a way, something is simply missing and i think they will lose far more, it has to be fun!
Someone - And PI sapped all the fun right out of it.
Someone Else - it made it utterly more boring! see in -- i can log in, no manufacturing crap and all i can craft stuff ofc, but i can go play alone, or group up or go gank, or pvp whatever, ohh some guys here starting a raid we need a tanker ok ventrilo details ok lets go, blast some stuff succeed or fail etc you do what you want when you want
Someone - Eve was like a ball-&-chain... you had to log in every day to check... all your sht. Manufac, science, invent, market... It became a *JOB* that I was /paying/ to do.
Someone Else - exactky
In the end it has boiled down to a few salient points:
Eve has become boring for far too many. Eve's depth and complexity has gone against it, turning a game into a job people pay to work at.
I stuck with it since launch... but subsequent to this latest content expansion the game has become far more of a job than it ever was. So it's time to move on, and find a /game/, something I can while a few hours away on with a few friends, and then just leave without having to worry if my industrial queues were up to date, my market orders are competitive, my skills won't end while I'm at work/asleep/out fishing.
Something FUN. --- Dreamer: My dream, Freddy! MY RULES. Freddy Kruger: *groans* Awwwww, f**k. --- Never give up! |

Any game can become a chore if you play nothing else but it for years. Take a break and come back. Nothing stopping you from just coming on for skill training and play some other game if EVE has lost its shine. Its about fun in the end as you say. Though why don't you try combat instead of industry if thats your main focus right now?

In order for something of value to be lost, something of value must be gained.
The only items of value gained or lost are various international denominations poured into something that provides no tangible returns.
So, that said, the OP's seven years of payments have been 'lost', so indeed something of value has been lost.
Most notably the intelligence that was once the hallmark of Eve to the trolls stumbling over from WoW.

The closer a game gets to ruining itself the more violent the trolls are in response to defamatory opinions. SWG, anyone? STO? The flamage on their forums from defenders was and remains to this day some of the most epic trolling ever to be found outside of 4chan.
Good bye, fun hunter. You're not missing anything.

Only if he at no time during those seven years had any fun. By the sounds of it, he did, so no. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Does this really make sense to you?
You say something must be gained to be lost, but then you say nothing was gained, and then you say something was lost, contradict yourself much?
You were rated as a "troll" by the responder because your post was of "troll" mentality and obviously not thought out in the least.

It just flows off the tongue so nicely. Try and say it out loud. Zarflax Zeeblebrox. Zarflax. Zeeblebrox. See? It's like a river of honey and milk massaging your vocal chords. Enjoy it. Say it again.

This reminds me of an episode of red dwarf where they play a computer game called "better than life", your friend isn't called Arnold Rimmer by any chance?
I play eve for exactly the opposite reason. If I don't want to log in for a few days then I don't have to worry about it, if my skill queue or manufacturing lines run dry when who cares?
Eve is a sandbox, if you treat it like a job then the game will be a job, if you treat it like an online pub with added trolls and exploding spaceships then it's a game. The fun is yours to create. _______

The way the OP is laid out means I can't read it. When I try to read a line the letters dance all around the screen. My eyes are ****y. My thoughts on EVE in its current state? It's wonderful!

In its 'current state'? Pretty derogatory way to refer to something that has been steadily improving (yes improving) for best part of a decade. EVE is a game you pay to play. As far as they go, its a pretty good one. There's an intelligent and fair RMT system. There's no hidden fees. There's no micro transactions. There's no persistent dumbing down attempts. There's no extra charges for expansions. The devs communicate directly with the players etc.
'Good' as in value for money as far as I am concerned.
Not all of it is working as well as it could at the moment but that effects a tiny number of the overall population and is being addressed with a pretty hefty wad of resources and man hours that few other 'issues' have ever received. Why? Because you made it clear its priority issue and they listened to you.
Whining much? Seriously? Reality check .. !
And now I am going to have MOAR!! coffee.

Ekhem... People are playing and leaving, leaving and playing. Getting excited and bored, bored and excited. Seriously? Is that such a phenomenon? I was playing game X then game Y because game X was getting boring for me. Then I moved on to game Z, and was bored of it after a month and moved on to EVE.
People should seriously stop being such a drama queen.
It's feels like a job? The only person that makes it feel like a job is the person that's playing the game like that making it too serious. It's GAME play it like one.
