Source engine games, and everquest both, when loading, hang for a good 20-30 seconds, screen whites out, says (not responding) then magicly resumes loading like 'normal' Source games run at incredibly low frame rates (8-10fps)
Drop my xp hdd in, no problems whatsoever
ALL other software works just fine. Be it dungeon keeper, eve online, fallout3, or unreal powered games. Is there some common problem im unaware of?
I'd like to play the engineer update, but tf2 has been broke
edit: inb4 use some other os. |

Yeah ive used a good.. oh i dont know, every version of windows 7 graphics drivers for this card
Reinstalled a few times, no antivirus, firewall off, uac off, defragged, data destructive 2 day long hdd tests, other deep hardware tests using micro2000 tools, replaced cables, keyboards, tried w/ no sound card, network disabled, sli disabled, borrowed a SSHD list goes on on and on and on
Ive literaly had this down to cpu, ram, video card, ps2 keyboard, psu. Even tried removing the case from the equation (hey ya never know, ive seen plenty of machines with intermittent problems because ite had a screw behind the mobo)
This is truly making me rage with the force of 1000 suns, i really dont want to go back to xp |

Did you try running the direct x diagnostics to see if windows 7 and your hardware are happy together?

Check Event Viewer logs in Computer Management (right click on 'Computer' In Start Menu). There may be a service that is intrinsic to Windows that is not starting.

This may sound crazy, but try running the (currently latest) DirectX redistributable first just in case, then have a nice reboot.

With a bit of googling I found this thread on another forum:
Linkage
Maybe one of the fixes in there might help?
I don't personally have any Source engine games on my machine to see if I have similar issues unfortunately (only Steam enabled game I have is COD MW2) ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

No-one asked for Windows 7, the nerds at Microsoft just wanted some sick pleasure again from watching the masses lose their minds over their poor coding.

And yet the end user experience for me going from xp to win7 on the exact same hardware was like trading in your 286 with 2 megabytes of memory and a 10 megabyte hd for a current cpu with 8 gigs and a nice fast 7200 rpm drive.
If you are failing with win7 then its most likely on your end.

I'd have loved your CPU if I could have found it. This is a driver-game compatibility and is known. What I love is how the ignorant whine about AMD's drivers when nVidia's have been of much lower quality for two years. Anyone remember what caused 25% of Vista crashes? Oh yes, it was nVidia and the nvdll problems still presist and yet I only suffer from these problems when I try to fold, that's why I run BOINC.
