Edited by: Princess Sela on 29/12/2004 17:50:36 crappiest movie I have ever seen, try and speed it up alittle, I mean I don't need to see the whole gank, just part of it.
Oh and in a few of the shots, 4 on 1, oh scary tactic!! come on....seriously this movie pretty much bit the big one.
Oh and how long does it take 2 BS to take down 1? 5 minutes later? Jesus....most normal people would have had back up in there to kick your A$$.

ok ok, now I feel bad, I checked out your website, tell the guy going to iraq to be safe.
In either case, need to cut the gank times down, it's really boring watching a dom shield tank you till his cap runs out and then finish the ownage.
Also, after the gank, tell the camera guy to cut before he reloads.
Were there any shots of you guys taking on more than one target @ a time, if so I would suggest using that to offset the major gankfest going on.
I know I like to see a loss by the gankers in a shot or two, just to show that it was a well fought battle, but thats just my opinion.
Too long and too much footage on each gank, if you need to change tracks in the middle of your flim, you know you have run long.

I think its a good effort and entertaining. One thing to remember about making videos is it's alot of work putting one of these together. Recall that "Great Northern War" video that was done a few months ago (best yet in Eve) took nearly five months to make. Even a short clip can take days and weeks to setup. It's alot of work and effort.
As for your video I'll post my comments below.
1. Good music in the beginning. It was fast paced and interesting. Fit with the fast moving ships in the movies beginning.
2. If possible try to avoid having the HUD wheel and chat boxes visible (use Ctrl-F9 when filming). The red and blue was really bright if you have to use the HUD and chat use dark opaque its less attention grabbing.
3. Include some text with the story. Describe what your doing. Humor works well too if you have a "joke" about what your doing.
4. Camera work was good. Some of the scenes were on the long side but overall it was decent work. I try to limit clips to 5-8 seconds each in my videos to break things up a bit and keep them moving along. The long clip of orbiting that one ship was too long.
5. Keep the length down to 4-5 minutes for your first videos. No need making a real long video at first. Do some "short story" types. Check out the NSN library of video's they're among the best in Eve. You'll get alot of tips from watching Leafo's productions. I know I've learned alot and gotten ideas from them.
NSN VIDEO ARCHIVE
6. Good effort! Keep making videos! They will get better over time. I look back at my first ones and think "omg that sux" now as my skills are improving. Just keep making them and don't let criticism get you down or discourage you.

Basically what others have said...
its not a bad movie, but there are many things you can/could've done to make it better.
Going to try not to be too repetitive but get rid of those HUD colors, i use a dark green/blue backround (very calm). The colors you use are just screaming and really do take away from the focal point of the movie (the guy getting his ass kicked).
Also, when ur killing ppl, if it takes more than 20 secodns to kill someone, break it up. Show 5-6 seconds of you locking on and activating hostile modules, then do a transition into several seconds later and depending on how much footage u had (how long u were killing him) keep doing little bits and pieces. it got kinda tedious just watching the orbits and waiting for the megathron and dominix to die. and dont tell us "5 minutes later". just do a transition. if u haddnt told me "5 mins later" i wouldn't have known that u had trouble killing it (it shouldnt take u that long to kill a bs).
again, as previous posters have said, if u are changing music tracks it means ur movie is long and unless it is uberly interesting, (i.e. fleet battle between two megacorps with lots of action), your gonna need to cut it down. Use the music as a gauge.
Unlike what others said, hiding the HUD isn't always the best way of filming. Though getting rid of everything except your ship status is what you should do (radar, overview, chat, etc.) are redundant.
Also, try not to lose too much quality in compression. Probably one of the most challenging aspects to digital movie editing is compression. You need to find a happy medium between quality and size. Film in a res like 800x600 with low graphics. Don't do 640x480 with low graphics because when i full screen it on my 1600x1200, it looks like ****, if i dont full screen it, i cant see whats going on.
OTher than that, good job and keep at it ----
