So lets say one wants to run missions for another corp and one has to start from lvl 1 missions...what would be the fastest way to increase ones standing to be able to run lvl 4 missions? just grinding away kill missions on one agent, or is there another, more efficient way?

Piggy backing with a character already doing level 4s and sharing the standings rewards is the fastest way.

There are a few options:
-Depending on what your faction standings are you might be able to just go there.
-Find someone (either in your corp or just a friend) that can run missions with the agent's corp you want to use and just run L4's with him to get the shared standing.
-If isk is not a problem there is group (i don't remember the name off-hand) that you can pay isk and they will have one of their employees group with you and run missions for whatever corp you want in order for you to get your desired standing (this is pricy)
-Just grind L1,2,3 agents from that corp until you get the proper standings, with this training your social skills is going to important.

Train connection skill so you start with high q l2 and low q l3 agents instead of l1.

Train connections to L4 then Have someone in fleet turn in shared L4's missions for best agent in your area.

Get a faction cruiser, blitz the missions ( dont loot or salvage ) you should be able to do lvl 3s in about 4-5 hours maybe less/maybe more. Getting to lvl 4s takes a little longer.
Or you can fleet up with someone that can do lvl 4s with the corp your looking at and split the rewards.

if possible run missions where you get a storyline with the same corp, as storyline missions give huge corp standing increases, my one alt went from doing lv2s straight to lv4s

Just adding my opinion, roughly in line with what's been said already.
Assuming you don't have any characters who already have access to the level 4 mission agent which you want the new character to have access to, the process I would go through is:
- Train Connections and Social skill as high as you can bear to
- Blitz L1 missions in a Destroyer until you have access to a poor quality L2 combat agent
- Get a faction or T2 cruiser (Omen Navy Issue, Zealot, Rook, etc) and blitz your way through L2-3 combat missions
- Find ways to remedy the eye bleed induced by running endless missions
To be fair, running level 3 missions in a cruiser can get interesting . But avoid courier missions unless you really want the AFK time while autopiloting. Mining missions do provide nice rewards, but they involve mining.
The better way to get access to a level 4 agent is find someone who already has access to that agent and will have you in their fleet while they hand in missions.

Assuming I have accses to L4s from a different corp of the same faction, what of the following options is the preferable one; 1. Running all missions for the new corp, close to an storyline agent of said corp, beginning with medium L2s, or 2. Running L4s for the other corp in close vicinity to a storyline agent of the target corp?

Decide yourself, I would prefer 1 but will show you an example 2 (i have Social IV):
Expert Distribution
1. Materials for War Preparation - 1,8749% 2. Covering your Tracks - 24,0% 3. Materials for War Preparation - 1,8749% 4. Transaction Data Delivery - 6,9559% 5. Materials for War Preparation - 1,8749% 6. Transaction Data Delivery - 6,9559% 7. A Special Delivery - 24,0% 8. Covering your Tracks - 24,0%
which brought me to a standing of 6,41 without skills.

1. Hire someone to improve your corp standing with that corp.
2. Train up your Social skills.
3. Buddy up with a friend who is already doing level 4 missions for that npc corp.
4. Hang out in local chat in a mission hub and offer payments to anyone doing level 4 missions that are willing to fleet with you when they turn in the mission. Not sure if you need to be in the fleet during the fighting part of the mission or if you just need to be fleeted when the mission gets turned in.

Do remember that being able to get Level 4 missions isn't the same as being able to complete Level 4 missions. I know a number of newish players who've realized that they make more ISK running Level 3s than Level 4s (Time Vs ISK, etc).

Train the applicable Social skills to 4 before you start, then begin grinding couriers by running multiple missions at once which leads to far quicker storyline assignments. Supplement this by buying tags and turning them into the specific agents at data centers. Do COSMOS missions along the way as well. Your faction standing will rise rapidly. This will get you into Lv 3 kill missions which you should blitz w/ a well-skilled BC. Bear in mind that once you get your standings high enough to run Lv 4s, there's a very good chance that you aren't really ready for them. If you can't fit a T2 tank on your Lv 4 BS, I'd abstain from soloing until I got to that point.

Run missions for a contact so that you get Storyline missions for the corporation that you want. The best would be running missions for corporation you want plus getting Storyline missions for that corporation as well.

Having multiple agents (of the level you need ofc.) on a single station can speed up the grinding process considerably: you save a lot of time warping, since you don't need to warp back to station and then wait for the session timer until you can undock again for every single mission.
Additionally, if your agent offers you two missions you'll have to decline in less than 4 hours, you've got to move to another system, maybe twice if you need to fetch your Industrial too. It's not that big of a problem, but still kind of a hassle. With multiple agents on your station, you'll probably never never have to deal with this issue.
Oh and using a fast ship like a Stabber (Fleet Issue) considerably reduces those boring idle times when you wait for your ship the reach that mission objective can at 60km :)

Anyone know whether you need to have inflicted damage, been present for completion trigger, or simply been in gang?
Oh memories......'I rush 4 4rge' anyone?

To get the rewards from the agent you only need to be in the fleet at the tome the mission was handed in. The mission-runner might be in Emolgranlan while you are in w-space, you will still get the split of the rewards.
To get bounties you need to be in fleet with the pilot who scored the kill shot. -- [Aussie players: join ANZAC channel] |

Edited by: yurisuss on 17/09/2010 21:07:47 Join the helpmymission channel and ask if people will run missions with you there for the corp. Other than that train connections and social like people have stated before. Use eve-agents.com website to find a group of agents in a single system also works well. It can also help you sort the agents by type (combat focused ones versus delivery mission ones), etc.... Multiple agents can also let you decline anti-faction missions if you want. I like to do the combat missions. Warp in kill the mission trigger if you can then warp out and next mission. 2-4 days of grinding to get to level 4 missions. Running missions with someone who has the level 4 agent already is much more profitable (more LP, bounties, loot, mission rewards, etc...). Especially since level 1-3 don't pay much. |
