It was so funny I had to post.
Moron flips my mining cans, I bring my Coercer main character into the belt, flip the can back knowing he'll engage. My Coercer has 200mm plates, energized adapative II, armor repper II, Damage Control. My main is heavily invested in Armor tanking (Amarr battleships/HAC's), so almost all armor related skills are at V.
He orbits me at 30km, I put on my radio crystals + tracking computer (optimal range script). My 8 dual light pulse lasers rip him to shreds. He screams in local "OMG WTF OP." I just smile and say, "thanks for your MWD, fly safe o/."

Destroyer kills a lousy piloted frigate. Wow. It took you a tremendous amount of focus and skill to press f1 and watch him pop

Edited by: Vladimiru on 13/09/2010 14:38:17 There's a better way to pilot a Dramiel other than orbit/scramble/shoot? I don't fly frigates (Battleships/HAC's) so I don't know the delicacies of an Inty.
Anyway, dessies are the perfect ship for killing Dramiel's. He simply should not have attacked me (or at the very least warped out).

Using a very cheap ship to take out a very expensive ship with faction modules, I'd say he's got bragging rights. Dramiels are way over priced for a frigate, they may be the best frigate ever but any T1 cruiser can eat it alive, I don't hear much about dessie kills because most of them are dedicated salvagers, good kill as far as I'm concerned.

Don't mind the rabble here, good on you for trashing somebody's shiny toy. He had it coming if he was dumb enough to engage you as he did.

So he has Braggin' rights because he killed a Frigate in an Anti-Frigate platform?
I'd say no....... Doesn't matter if it was cheap vs expensive. Dessies MAY be used as a salvager (but so may battlecruisers, Battleships or anything else with 8 highs) but at the end of the day their job is to kill frigates.
Now if he killed the Dramiel with say..... a badger, now thats different.

So what you are saying is if he doesn't ram the dramiel to death with an unarmed industrial you won't be impressed? Tough crowd...

I think he is referring to some older forum hilarity about a dude that used to play who actually did lose a dramiel to a badger.

Edited by: SurrenderMonkey on 15/09/2010 02:57:09 Smells like bull****, tbh. With all 5s and radio crystals, a Coercer fitting dual light pulses and a tracking computer II with an optimal script has a range of 19+2.4, so beyond ~24km, you aren't hitting anything.
With no heat sinks, and assuming they're faction radio crystals - I'm sure they weren't, but I'm being nice here - it has a volley damage of 175 and a DPS of 72.
A coercer only has one mid slot, occupied by your tracking computer, so you have no propulsion Vs. one of the fastest hulls in the game that is allegedly orbiting you at well outside of your optimal+2xfalloff.
IIRC, most people - correct me if I'm wrong here, I don't fly them myself - put an MSE on a dramiel, which gives them over 4500 ehp vs EM - and radio are all EM - all by itself, not counting any hardeners, rigs, etc. Just the MSE.
So, basically, someone in a dramiel, who was allegedly too far away for you to hit, who you could neither catch nor prevent from leaving at any time, hung around for long enough for you to chew through 4500 EHP with your whopping best-case-scenario-if-you-were-actually-in-range-which-you-weren't 72 DPS (over a minute)?
It may be the case that you killed a dramiel with a coercer, but some portion of your story is definitely ****ing wrong.
API verified KM or it didn't happen, imo. --------------- Faction-Militia:Player-Alliance::Newbie-corp:Player-corp |

Overheated warp disruptor II range is 28.8 km, and a Coercer only has 1 mid slot filled with a tracking computer.

Agreed, if what he wrote about pulses is correct. Using beams however would be plausable since with my own skills (not max at all) I get 29 + 3.5 km optimal when the targeting computer is set to tracking speed. With max skills it is 32+ 3.8... and that is with tracking speed and not optimal range script.
But yea, if he used pulses then this feat would not be plausable

Yes, beams would at least move it into the realm of possibility, but I have to assume the guy knows what kind of guns he's packing, and that still leaves the problem of no point and no way to catch the guy. --------------- Faction-Militia:Player-Alliance::Newbie-corp:Player-corp |
