I dont think its unfair, everytime u step into a low sec sys ur playing the game of chance,i mean ok ur upset cause the pirate was able to get to ur location tho it was close to the belt and u dont think it should be,but where the fun in the game if this didnt happen,They want the game to seem almost real and if stuff like this didnt happen like in rl it would never seem real.Best thing i can say is accept it and move on

How is a car getting stuck on a little plastic pudding bucket anywhere near realistic or fun?
Thats what cans are compared to battleships.
For those who didnt read the original post very well, the guy wasnt complaining about getting killed by a pirate. Hes complaining he died because he got stuck on a jetcan. Which indeed is silly for a Battleship to get stuck on something like that. ---------------------------

as much as i'd like to feel this is unfair, i really cannot agree. first, yes, getting stuck on an empty pack of marlboro's with a firetruck is stupid. but, then again, what do we trully know about zer0-G travel? so, perhaps i can feel your pain from that frustration.
however, if "this happened in real life" (yeah, i know), bookmarking that can would be a perfectly fine tactic. imagine really being that pirate, jumping in and seeing you there and making your nav computer get a warp in point to the person's ship over there. in that way, it makes sense to me...
just not sure if a discarded McDonald's bag would really stop a ship from moving right f'n through it.
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

i'm not complaining about getting killed, its life in eve. He got me fair and square and used great tactics. For that I applaud him.
I just made me raise an eye brow at the fact you could bookmark a can that far away, and the fact the titanic can get caught up in a fishing line!

There's a word too much here : fair
Eve is not fair since PKs are fitted for PvP and love to hunt people fitted for PvE, aka mining or belt hunting.
To be allowed to use the word 'fair' talking about Eve PvP, you should be able to strike back with equal chances for the victim than for the attacker.
Eve also lacks the paper-rock-scisor balance. Every ship should fear another one. For example, destroyers are fine because they are a threat to frigates but feat from cruisers. But at the top of the chain food, especially when it comes to tech II ships or BSs, smaller ships are sitting ducks.
That's why fleet battles are the most entertaining feature in Eve to me.
And I live in 0.0, so spare me the usual comments about carebears and stuff, thanx.

i hate the paper-rock-scissors games. bugs the hell out of me with RTS games. sure, PRS might work in certain games, but not just a blanketed ALL system for things.
guess i gave my opinion away on how i feel about big missles doing less damage to a smaller ship... 8)

Whenever I try to bookmark cans from over 150km away I get a message that my sensor could not get a lock on it or something.

He didn't bookmark the can... he used the new (er.. old.. but finally brought back after it was taken out months and months ago) feature of being able to warp to canisters that are over 150km away from you.
BTW, I think the devs forgot the very valid reasons they took this out in the first place, but I won't remind them, as I like it. :)

PvP fitting vs a PvE fitting, The PvE fitting is gonna pwn the the pirate tbh, its just that people panic too much when they get attacked and dont fight back properly.

So you went to a belt... saw that a pirate was there... and just stood around killing NPCs? If the game was 'fair', your ship would be smart enough to spit your pod out and safespot, leaving you for the pirate. -------------------------------------------- CONCORD: Kneecapping Pilots for Misdemeanors Since 2003 |
