Why hullo there gentlemen.
This thread is to compare the ISK/hour of both of these ships in their optimal environments.
Assume all of the following are true:
-You are missioning for the best agent for the ship.
-You have all necessary skills to 5.
-Money is not an issue, that anything other than officer gear is feasible.
All of the following will be considered off-topic:
-Posting about a ship that is neither a Paladin or Golem.
-Posting experiences/stories that are not your own.
-Attempting to flame me, or productive posters because you weaallllyyy want to hijack this thread for epeenage or something else.
Please, keep this on topic. Trolls will be shot on sight.

I think a Kronos would be superior if piloted by Chuck Norris.

Edited by: Moose Burger on 18/09/2010 01:20:21 You can look at my ships and modules thread.
My isk earning is approximately
Pure LP+rewards+bounty+salv = 45m+40m*(LP k/isk conversion)
Loot = 3.5b-4.5b every month
Since i mission run near jita/dodixie/rens, i ussualy also have more income from remote margin trading , which can be done in any ship.
So in optimal conditions, by selling a portfolio of fast-selling faction items at 2.5-3K isk/LP (gallente, minmatar and amarr space all has these items), a portfolio of 1%,3% LP store implants (these yield 10-50K isk/LP) and also some "rare" faction items (which tags are hard to come by,and has low going rate), idd say my isk/hour will jump from
125 M isk/hour - 245 M isk/hour
plus an addition of approximately 25M isk/hour worth of loot.

TBH I'm not sure why you don't include the nightmare in this comparison, given that it's the halfway point between the 2 ships you listed (caldari/amarr, shield tank with marauder like lasers). It is hands down better than the other 2 if you want to blitz through missions (the main problem with the other 2 being that the golem shines in missions that AREN'T against sansha/blood, and those are the most profitable to salvage and loot, while the paladin has a hard time fitting for good damage, range, and tank)
That said, if I HAD to pick one, it'd be the golem. More versitile, shield tanking allows for crystals, and TP bonus is nummy. That said, they both pale in comparison to the NM (which requires the same skillset and flies the same way, and just IS a hybrid between the 2) |

Nightmare will never ever ever ever be able to beat Golem's isk/hour generation.
I fly nightmare+machariel in amarr space, and golem+tengu in g/M/C space. the income is insanely different although supposedly amarr has the "better" and "easier-to-sell" lp store.

I think the paladin would ever so slightly win out thanks to the awesomeness of tachyons! there is plenty of stuff outside torp range. I would think I'd have a better answer having a golem and a paladin pilot (hell at this point I can fly both with chainsaw)
I also slightly prefer the paladin because you can just throw a t2 tank (okay okay meta4/faction rep w/e) on there and it reasonably permaruns.
although a lot of things are in torp range, and the golem has 1300+ dps

Don't fall for it.
Seriously, don't. When you say "fanboi" try to picture a fat man doing burlesque with 2 big ass fans that say CCP on one and HTFU on the other. Because that dude is me. |

I'm not sure a single one of you actually read, or understood my original post(other than Moose, of course<3).
The question was not "Which of these is better assuming you are using the same agent for both" or "Which of these would you prefer, but please choose another to discuss because i'm so bad" and nowhere did I specify that they would be used on the same character, or on a character with skillsets outside of what is needed for them.
This thread is to compare these two marauders in their optimal environment doing what marauders do best(kill, lewt, kill).
Please stay on topic, I'm trying to get an actual comparison between THESE ships going.

i prefer pally.
instant dmg more range(if you are using torps.. if not.. pally does way more dmg then.) immune to defenders

Edited by: Opertone on 18/09/2010 07:18:00 I've never flown paladin... But I have a lot of Golem experience. Its damage output onto targets is impressive.
3 volleys to kill a BS 500-900 k bounty 1 volley BCs 1 volley cruisers 1 volleys frigs (if they MWD towards you)
and I prefer rage and standard torpedoes with 2x Domination Target painters.
I do missions vs guristas mostly, so salvage is not worth the time. I only salvage the occasional minmatar/amarr wrecks, such as sanshas, blood raiders, angels, gistii.
Why do I not fly a Paladin? I do not have any idea about guns/cap and armor tanking.

why wouldn't you use the same agent for both? amarr space baby! (I'd be open to arguments of take the golem to minny space) as for characters, this is the forums, eft warrior land, all level 5s assumed (oh and 5% hardwirings and faction damage mods ect...)
paladin, 1 gun frigs/dessys, 2-3 gun cruisers, 3-4 gun bc, bs I haven't counted in a while. TD'ing is pretty rare. ship has awesome range for blitzing things like The Assault (I'd rather take the lp for it and not sit around shooting guristas for hours). AE pops up in amarr space, its not optimal, but not awful either. and I love running EA in the paladin, the gallente ships just melt to the tachys, the minny ships are a little more annoying but they go down fast enough.
golem wtfbbqs stuff in range, the issue is lots of stuff spawns outside range, and its nice to kill the trash (frigs/cruisers) with turrets as soon as you can. I find myself using the CNR more and more over my golem thanks to the improved range and 3x sentry drones.
loot/salvage should be mostly the same on both.
I'd be really tempted to go run some missions in the pally, but I'm grinding my sec up right now. |

oh dear...silly bear, unless of course 80-200m of that is from margin trading.
regarding the thread, just get a NM, salvage and loot isn't worth the time any more, just blitz. |

Everyone should be able to see that the Paladin wins.
Instant damage + always 100% damage = win.
Golem is no match for Paladin.

I fly Golem, Paladin & Kronos.
Between them, I prefer the Paladin simply because it's 'easier to fly' -I don't have to bother micro-managing target painters and the Paladin has a decent tank using very affordable items (Amarr navy, nothing fancy). Call me lazy.
Having said that, the Golem is more versatile vs different npc types. If you intend to spend a lot of time in the ship, pick whichever you think you'll enjoy more.
