After playing eve for nearly 3 years, I've seen pretty much every type of station, even going on long trips to visit the semi-destroyed CONCORD and caldari stations.
Right now, The Jita 4-4 station has the same model as hundreds of other stations, the same for Amarr, Dodixie, and Rens.
What I would find awesome, would be if each empire's main trade hub station got a new model to represent its importance in the eve universe.
The new models would be far bigger, and more impressive than their current ones. Make it so impressive that people would go to each one just to look at them. These would be unique stations- one for each empire.
Before you say "I'd rather have them fix lag/balance the game first", remember, the artists at CCP are not the people who fix lag/balance the game. So far, they have done an outstanding job- from T3 ship models, to the Primae model. Letting them make 'super station' models would probably give spectacular results.
Would anyone else find this a really nice thing for CCP to put in?

Supporting that idea too.
Btw in my opinion they should also scale up the current station models a bit. They doesn't currently look like that they could have multiple carriers and battleships inside. And outposts looks like they could maybe just get couple cruisers inside :P

I really like this idea!

Although having a larger model might cause a little more lag- but probably nothing noticeable, especially as having 100+ individual models gives practically no problems.

Gonna throw my bone in here aswell. I'd love the main hub's, or just one main station of each empire, to have a different ARSUM model and a bit bigger than the others aswell. I'm also the one complaining about the size of the stations. As you say, they don't scale well against battleships and capitals. CCP... Do it. Just do it, naow

I don't really like that idea. The hubs are where they are not because of anything special, it's because that's where the players assembled over time. If the situation changes (see: superhighway removal in the past), it is likely that the trade hub positions or relative importance will change. In my opinion it is wrong to artifically increase the importance of some stations by giving them "improved" models, just because they happen to be the hubs right now. This change would dampen natural shifts in the hubs, as new players would think that the stations with different models are for some reason supposed to always be important. ___________ EVE is dying! nah man its natural to build up an area because people crowd there. it would be realistic to put bigger stations in systems (if only one per empire) that had more pilots in. there are more warehouses, shops, accomodation and skyscr4pers in cities than there are in small towns right?

Something that could be done is to make stations dynamically expand in size based upon how much traffic they recieve. If a station started recieving x amount of traffic then an entire new section is attatched to the existing station (i.e. an amarr station would an additional ring of structures around it, a caldari station would have more of those smaller buildings attatched with cables, etc). The size of the stations could just be updated whenever server maintenance occurred. I would also think that added load on the server would be virtually nonexistent since it already uses station traffic to calculate the cost of office space. On a side note this could solve the whole traffic issue in Incarna. If Jita 4-4 was bigger then it wouldn't be so crowded. |

am all for this.why not have the players submit unique design stations to be placed at the jump gate hubs.any designs but one of the current ones being used in the game.am still stunned by the triple wheel space station in Eve.remember this is space and any design can do.
