For the sake of discussion, lets say that I'm shooting at other BS size ships only. Are +tracking mods worth it? For example, +15% of such a small number (.01 rad/sec) is such a small improvement... it seems like a very poor return for your mod slot. Thoughts?

Range is nice. But that's pretty much it.

For shooting BS with arties tracking is not your best friend, no. your range will likely be further than your targeting ability anyway. So if you got small ships taken care of with drones then you dont need it. When you say "fanboi" try to picture a fat man doing burlesque with 2 big ass fans that say CCP on one and HTFU on the other. Because that dude is me. |

It depends on how far away they are and how fast they are moving. I always fit a tracking enhancer or CPU to my turret ships. Having more optimal range and better tracking does make a difference.
I would definitely fit one of the above in lieu of a 4th damage mod. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

Edited by: Tippia on 20/09/2010 19:46:35 Look at it this way: a 15% increase in tracking means that the target can move 15% faster, or be 15% smaller, and you'll still hit him just as well.
A target moving at 1150m/s will be hit as if it were moving at 1000m/s; a 108m sig-radius target will be hit as if it had had a 125m radius. In addition, it lets you do this at longer range, which, if you can maintain and make use of that extra range, also provides the same value bonus to your tracking.
It may look numerically small when you just apply it to some turret's tracking value, but it's worth remembering what that bonus translates to in more "real-world" terms. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
