Firstly, this is not a flame thread or anything.
I'm just curious if there is any other big additions/changes coming with the next expansion that hasn't been released yet.
If there is, could any devs give a tiny hint on when they will tell us about any additional stuff?

So first several thousand players rage over how they're not focusing on quality and polishing preexisting features, and then the same several thousand players rage over not getting wholly new features.
Got it.

Yeah, there's an element of people that will never be satisfied. They probably all voted for Ralph Nader and are continually unsatisfied. LOL

You realize the entire first paragraph was devoted to lag right?

Well, there's this:

What could CCP be referring to?

I think it sounds like a pretty decent expansion. It's no Apocrypha, but it's no Quantum Rise either. I'm impressed considering there is a large push towards finishing up Incarna going on concurrent to the expansion development.
The concept of incursions is top notch, and will hopefully get some mission runners out into the fringes of space and used to true PvP. And hey, if the big, deep space incursions end up being a resource that people fight over, it will add a bit more flavor to the currently stale state of 0.0.
The PI improvements and the AI improvements shouldn't be overlooked as well.

Heck yeah - that's pretty much how I view it. I'm pretty happy with this expansion.

Hardware upgrades...so far has had no impact Software Improvements - Does this say anything about lag? No this means PI clickability and a great new portrait designer Cluster Components = Same as #1 no?

Few years back Jita would die a slow, painful death with 700 pilots sat on it.
Now it chugs along quite merrily with 1400.
No improvement there, then.

Hey Fred,
look to the left, click on eve insider and click on the link called dev blogs. Ok now click on the archive, and now read the 12 blog dedicated to new hardware and software improvements to fix lag. Yes you have to put in 'effort' to find out what ccp is doing about the lag.
/thread for any complaints about fixes for lag.

Hardware upgrades... has only happened in Jita so far, which has raised the cap from 1400 to 2000 players. That is a HUGE impact. They haven't bought a few hundred of these nodes yet, but they're testing a new node, and it is nice. Software Improvements - Yes, it's about lag. Go read the dozen blogs about software changes to fix lag. I don't do the big fleet fights, but I've done a few of the tests on Sisi. If they're anything to go by, also a big improvement. Cluster Components = Yes, same as #1. But you were wrong about #1.

With all patches, I fear the might of the nerf hammer most of all.

Is it not enough that we have (or are likely to have): a new ship specialised for salvage operations, a new character editor to get our avatars ready for Incarna, updates to PI so you don't have to do so much mindless clicking, a new faction ship with faction fighters & bombers, large group PvE content (which will of course lead to large group PvP content), less lag, an end to ghost datacore harvesting, email notification to POS gunners when their POS is under attack, metalevel of items showing in lists, less lag, rockets getting balanced, T3 ships being refittable at POS or carriers, reconnecting with drones after a disconnect, MWD/afterburner different icons, renaming ships without having to board them, aligning to bookmarks, viewing ship fittings in the hangar without boarding them, and less lag?

Nothing in the press release suggests polished quality.
The "many improvements from the CSM" is a whole 1 "Must" (and that's access to archived forums ), 9 "Should" and 4 "Could". It will be interesting to see how many of those really make it into the release.
It's not like people ask for less features, but for more quality. So presenting them a press release that appears to include less features is not exactly delivering what's been asked for.
And since when does "not getting wholly new features" automatically mean "getting polished quality"? Could it be you are underestimating CCP's ability to screw things up?

The best thing EVE needs right now is complete dedication to improving game quality in terms of making interface interaction and general gameplay faster and smoother. PVP mainly has become more of something to loathe lately more than anything because of the intense amounts of lag. Not to mention EVE could use a break from new content being added, all it's doing is increasing server load which we know at this moment can be peaked fairly easy. I know some of you know this already but I might as well throw my 2 cents in, if this is about "improving" the game. Yes, i love stating my opinion... because people don't like it! |

So its just science&industry and corporation interface that are left to ruins then? damn. Try do inventing and you soon realise PI is not only clickfest ingame.
i propose ccp makes changes how guns work, make it take 10+ mouse click to actyally shoot the damn thing, these are complicates spaceships after all
