Incarna is the Duke nukem forever of EvE online.
Paradoxicaly it sounds like DNF is going to be comeing out sooner than incarna,
granted its been in develoment longer.

The next 18 (ok, now 17) months are MOSTLY dedicated to Incarna development (and various Incarna-related things). The earliest you can expect Incarna in SOME form is some time in early autumn of 2011, with a much more likely date for a fully working thing in late spring or even early summer of 2012.

At the most, we've been at about a 3.
More like, at best a 2, most of the time at 1.

I suspect that the real dev attention is focussed on Dust as there is actually money there -- and that walking in stations will be nothing more than a byproduct of that.
My question for anyone really concerned about this is simple: What is it about walking around a station that appeals to you exactly? Discount theoretical mini-games. Discount playing dress-up with your character to any significant degree. And, do you really see yourself WALKING, or is it jogging around stations? Or is it perhaps the idea of a generic appartment; your own "space" in space? Are you anticipating fun online tea-parties with your friend's avatars while you show off your collection of generic wall decorations?
Again, it's delayed (likely) because it's LAME. Killing people in PvP is not lame, and that's where their attention is focussed.

And you'd be wrong. DUST is developed by the Shanghai office, the Reykjavfk office has very little to do with it (just the integration with EVE part). A relatively recent (and hotly screamed over - 66+ pages now) debvlog (linkage) had the team makeups for the Iceland based people: * Incarna - 9 teams, ~70 devs * Dust 514/EVE link - 1 team, ~7 devs * in-space features - 3 teams, ~22 devs * EVE Gate - 1 team, ~10 devs * everything else - 4 teams, ~15 devs
70 out of 124 devs (over 56%) do represent a majority working on Incarna.

It's time for CCP to stop coddling the carebears and give something the real players of Eve want. How about fixing lag?
No one wants this stuff. There should be more content that pushes people out to 0.0. Being in a huge alliance and burning other huge alliances to the ground is the ENDGAME of eve, it is what every eve player wants. Not this crap. --------------

YOU don't want "this stuff". Plenty of people however do. And the engine is getting developed anyway for another CCP/WW project. Might as well use it in EVE too.

Talk about beating a dead horse. They are working at reducing lag. They will NEVER fix lag because the player base will always push the limits of the system to outnumber the enemy. its what is ingrained into most of the 0.0 entitys to win fights. And what will win all engagements. We dont need tactics in eve. we just need more numbers and you win. To be honest this is what i hate about pvp in eve but oh well. A Fix for lag will never be possible so get used to it, Just hope for a improvement when flying big fleets or hope people employ different methods of fighting. ------ Be prepared |

At the time the date of Fanfest 2011 was announced, CCP told us that Incarna would not be out this year, and they expect a major announcement about Incarna to be made at/coincident with Fanfest 2011.
The lack of Incarna in the Winter 2010 expansion is entirely consistent with that CCP have already told us to date. If Incarna isn't out for the Summer 2011 expansion, I'll start wondering if it's ever going to come out. In the meantime, I have an ISK income to generate and spaceships to build so I can blow up more spaceships and stimulate the demand for the spaceships I build.

I'll not watse my time to find the refrence, but it was stated in a comment someplace, perhaps forums or fanfest, I do not recall, that the first part of Incarna would be updating the AV creation bit. That is in this new expansion: " ... character creator with CCP's Carbon character technology for fresh pilot portraits ... "

Dear thing that must be killed with fire,
I want ccp to 'fix' lag and yet I don't really care about 00 because I'm not out there and really couldn't care less if they never 'fixed' it as it really doesn't effect me personally or the 'game' I'm playing day to day, blobs aren't 'fun'. YET somehow I recognize that them 'ignoring' it and other issues that don't directly effect me is bad, why well because if they aren't concerned about 'your' issues they probably don't or won't care about mine.
What people don't want is to be told how to play a game or more specifically to be forced to play how others think they should play in a game that touts your ability to do your own thing.
PS: If 00 is the ENDGAME why are you still playing? Let us know when you're finished winning out there I'll be sure to send you a card, I like Garfield but I'm also partial to Far Side. -------------------------------------------------------------- Fanboys would make great cult members. |

Sometimes i think they're going to surprise us, and instead of teasing us and giving more projected release dates, just drop it on us out of the blue, as a way to make up for all the frustration and let downs.
Then i remember hype is one thing CCP always do to death. We'll probably start hearing more tiny details about it in a few months, which are expected to get us back to the excitement levels we had many years ago, and finally play it a full year or two later.
I've just about had it with the whole thing, myself.

Why are so many people so desperate for such a pointless and boring feature? And the tinges they seem they seem to expect out of it are completely unrealistic. Bar room brawls? WTF?
It seems mostly to be old vets who spend most of their time station spinning who want this the most. Insane. This is a spaceship game. Why aren't you out there flying?
I hope it's never implemented. It would do more harm than good.

Incorrect. There is no "endgame of EVE" ù that's just the endgame you have chosen for yourself. Others want different things for their endgame. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Of course blobs aren't fun and no one wants to be told how to play. I thought it was obvious when I put the 'endgame' part in the sentence, but I guess not.

given there ongoing trackrecord of pushing things out not ready for prime time I would wrather they keep working on incarna and get it right than have them shove it out on the servers month after next only to find out they forgot to put roofs on all the spacestations and everyone who steps out of there egg gets sucked into space.

Yes you are.
Those 7 people are creating database connections between EVE and Dust; the 70 people are creating a new engine, new gameplay, new content, new art; new [everything]. As for being closer to prime timeà doesn't look that way (nor does it matter ù no point in creating the link of the actual game isn't ready). ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Edited by: Rico Lobo on 22/09/2010 06:14:22 ok lets compare
Incarna, we have images of rooms in space stations (entirely unocupied, mostly static at that) with indications that its being pushed back till late 2011(if then) because they seem to have PDD. (Perpetual Development disease aka keep scraping and recreating "The Most Advanced Graphic Game Engine for a Game Ever totaly from scratch because we keep thinking of new things to do with it that will be so super awsomesauce once we figure out how to do it in real time at greater than 10 fps Because the pre-rendered high detail stills we can creat look so super duper awsome that its going to take another 2-3 generations of computers to get the raw horsepower to run the game!(sorry but most character screenshots in EQII still look like crap and its been out how many years now?)
DUST we have vidioes of fights on planet and vidioes of combat prep in a space station useing the engine thats being customised for Dust.
I hate to say it but somethings not quit meshing with that picture.

Incarna: The Way It's Meant To Be Delayed since 2004.
Anyone shocked CCP have delayed this, once again, is either new to the game, an eternal optimist or a fanboy because Incarna was announced in 2004. CCP claimed they were working on a DX10 client in 2006! Now, 2010, it's going to be delayed to 2011, and guess what's going to happen in 2011? With great fanfare and bombast CCP are going to announce in grand CCP style it'll be released in 2012.
Ironic thing is that Duke Nukem Forever is actually going to be released before Incarna. Well done CCP, you're actually going to get beaten by a dead game.
