Well after playing the game since Beta im finaly throwing in the towel and retiring. I will be keeping this character just in case Eve manages to grab my intrest again in a year or so. I would just like to say thank you CCP for an excellent ride, its been a blast. There have been many inovations to keep the game intresting and fresh.
One thing I would say though as a PVPer which has contributed in a large to part to my leaving is the following:
I understand CCPs need to get new players active and envolved in the game as soon as possible but I believe the balance has shifted too much.
For example, Ten 3 week old characters in drakes and a few more experienced scimi pilots run into a 10 man gang of 60mill + chars in HACS. Well if you PVP you know the rest, the HAC gang may well win in the end depending on how good the scimi pilots are but not without heavy losses. Fitted BC destroyed = virtually no isk loss, HAC loss in excess of 130mill ( thats not including if you get podded ).
The outcome of this is various sized blobs of drakes and scimis wandering all over eve making it extremly boring, with the only way to fight this kind of mindless fleets if with your own drake blob hence the problem snowballs. Even some of the best pilots in my previous alliance starting switching to drakes because to fly anything else was pretty pointless.
It seems to me that BCs are completly overpowered for what they cost, and years of training in PVP skills count for almost nothing these days. I hope CCP will correct this inbalance, they did an excellent job correcting the nano hac gang thing.
I would just like to ask CCP please to take this seriously as I know alot of other old players thinking along the same lines.
So so long and thanks for all the fish!!
ps
no you cant have my stuff

If you choose to fly cruiser hulls while you could fly carriers don't complain that a bigger number of organized players in bigger hulls stands a chance against you. What do you want, WoW like Xp = Iwin mechanics regardless of the hull you fly?

Thats not a given. The most recent example are BFF HAC gangs, which can win even when outnumbered by bigger hulls.
But, regarding BCs power/price ratio: A Drake nerf wouldn't be out of place. ________________________ CCP: Where fixing bugs is a luxury, not an obligation. |

lolwut? a gang of 10 HACs & Scimis should absolutely murder a gang of 10 3-week old drakes. Methinks you protest to much, bro. Wait, was it 10 Deimos? Maybe that would explain it, but even then you shouldn't lose more than 1-2 tops.
Oh and if a bunch of 3-week players beat the hell out of your 60 mill SP mob, that's not a fault of the game, it's a fault with (you guessed it) you. You have access to everything they do and they still beat you. You lost because they outplayed you. Deal with it.

I think he exaggerated a little on the three week old Drake pilots but I agree with the sentiment. The drake does need a nerf. Either to its number of launcher hardpoints or the number of mid slots. Preferably the latter.

The Drake is fine, it's a good ship with some sharp limitations. Complaining about it being more powerful than HACs (I assume the OP lost his AHAC to a drake army) is pretty lol. Yeah 300 drakes will cream 100 AHACs. Duh. But 100 drakes will get minced. A ship that needs a 3:1 advantage isn't "OP".
Also: Caldari ships being effective in well-coordinated fleets, you say? In my EVE?

While I can sympathize w/ the OP (had account for over 6 years now, log in to change skills, haven't played in many months)
The idea that a ship class benefits newer characters more than old is laughable.
-the game is supposed to taper off individual game advantage/effects gained by super skillpoints (sure, 20m better than 10m, 60m better than 20m, 150m not much better than 60m)
-what would stop the hac gang from fitting drakes?
-THE HAC GANG SHOULD MURDER THE DRAKE GANG WITH NO LITTLE TO NO LOSES
--- Players are losing faith and loyalty in CCP due previous expansions not living up to player expectations. The CSM and CCP agreed that expectation management can be improved |

Well to be fair to the op I have also cancelled all my accounts because the areas of the game I like to play(fw and big fleet pew) have grown completely stale or are totally unplayable. I have already tried the majority of the other content like trading, missions, mining, exploraton, etc etc but since I'm filthy rich from using my multiple accounts to farm stuff or move entire stations of goods to a new trade region for max profits those other areas simply do not appeal to me to fall back on.
Hell the only reason I did them in the first place was to build a massive warchest so I could eventually pew pew at will with well skilled characters with no worries about having to grind for the next ship. So yeah for me too it was a long exciting journey but alas there is this massive roadblock of cows in the way of further enjoyment so I'm pulling over at this roadside diner and am waiting for the next couple of expansions to 'ambulate' back into the field and get the game back to its pvp roots.
But to quit the game because a scimi backed newb drake gang spanked you out of your 100mil+ isk hac is just stupid.. This simply verifies that new players can indeed pvp if proper tactics are employed. Btw were was in your gang the logis to rep you up and ew ships to make the opposing scimis jobs hard for them to do effectively? ZOMG!!! |

Yeah I know. I'm not the 'bitter vet emo unsubscribe' player like the op that will never give ccp a second chance over some stupid shiat but instead I'm a 'I can't really find a reason with my current hectic rl schedual to try to put several hours in a row into a totally possible black screen of doom game session' player.
Trust, I have far too much time and effort invested into eve to ever quit forever.

I trained up for Drakes because I have a lot of missile skills and can still use some drones too.
But it's not a superior ship. It does not fit and fly itself.
Perhaps the problem is not the Drakes, it's the price of the HACs. For in this case, it's like sending an M1 Abrams tank to shoot at people in pickup trucks, where the cost-effect ratio and loss rate of the target means you lose before entering the field (market forces being the real weapon in play).
The prices of the HACs need to come down perhaps, but I don't suspect that the people who fly them are poor in this game either.

You'll probably be enraged (or maybe not, I can never tell with you) to learn that HACs are out for big fleets now; it's all about the T3s. This is because once you get above 150-200 drakes, they can one-volley A-HACs. Whereas it would take about 3x as many to alpha a tanky T3.
So now we're talking risking upwards of half a bill, not to mention SP loss.

Nah they just need to make T2 insurance actually cover more than the cost of the T1 hull used to make the ship.

so when people are/were flying battleship horde fleets around with lots of guardians why didn't you call for a nerf to bs fleets?
Basically you want a drake nerf. I say to you if it isnt a drake today, tomorrow it is something else.
drakes have alot of tank and do about 300-400 dps depending on skills/fit, hence there worth in large group has finally been realised as it relates to scimitars.
you want fleets made up then of 100 different ships each?
so drake fleets meet drake fleets now... so when bs fleets met bs fleets, or cap fleets met cap fleets, nerf caps nerf bs.
you just played for too long and cant think out side of the box any longer. the greatest poster ever |
