I'm producing P4 on a barren planet and want to increase the storage. Image below:
I build 6 storages but I can't fill them up with resources because the expedited transfer has a cooldown timer. I tried to transfer 1500m3 to a storage and the timer went to 6h. I tried to upgrade a link to 2000m3 but the cooldown time for 1500m3 was still 6h.
How do I increase my storage so that the planet can hold more resources so I can refill them every 2+ days?
- CPU 16572/17215
- POWER 14957/15000
Help ?(^_^)

1) use launch pads instead of storage 2) make your links smaller 3) no need to link your CC --

^^^ THIS ^^^
I just use one launch pad, super short links and the rest factories. You end up with a lot of routes that way but if you create the routes as you place everything it works out ok. Just place the launch pad in the center and pack as many factories around it as you can.

2 days is a bit much for factory planets; that's a LOT of storage.
If you want to extend the length of time your resources will supply your planet, your best bet is to go further down the production chain. If you have factories making P2s feeding factories making P3s feeding factories making P4s, your volume used per hour will go down.
Your other option is just to have a whole lot of Launchpads. A launchpad can just barely hold the input/output for 1 P4 made from 3x P3s (Broadcast Node, Integrity Response Drones, Recursive Computing Module, Self-Harmonizing Power Core, or Wetware Mainframe ) and a P4 made from 2xP3s and a P1 (Nano-Factory, Organic Mortar Applicators , or Sterile Conduits ). Of course, this will be absurdly hard on CPU and you'll only be able to fit 3 sets (3 launchpads & 6 high tech factories) on planet. *** Wish list for PI:
*One-click input routing *Copy product, inputs & outputs in factories *Launchpad upgrades: twice the space, twice the cost, half the hassle! |

Ye I run into the CPU problems. I can have: 3x P4 and 1LP +6storage = 40.000m3 But I cant get the resources to the sorages cuz of the timer. The other option is to have only LPs. 3x P4 and 2LP = 20.000m3
I will lose half the storage..... I hope they make storages more useful in the next expansion. I'm doing P2 -> P3 -> P4

Well, yeah, I guess if you do combine high-tech factories with launchpads it can get pretty tricky CPU-wise. Still, shouldn't 20000 m^3 be enough ? I mean, with 3 high-tech factories, that's what, around two and a half days before you have to come back again and refill it if you'd only be doing P4 on that planet and lower P3/P2 elsewhere. Isn't that kind of enough already ?

It looks like your using an improved command center. Upgrade to an advanced or elite command center.
In regards to your expediate transfer timer, it looks like you link from the launchpad through the factories to the storage. Any routes going through the links will effectively choke point the timer (including links not upgraded). I would suggest you move the storage from the outside of your colony towards the center around the launchpad. Upgrade the links between the launchpad and storages to expediate multiple items more quickly with no routes going through the links. A secondary launchpad is recommanded for finished product routed directly from the factories (as in one launchpad for import, the other only for export). |

Then something is wrong.
If the link has been upgraded to 2000m3, then the cooldown timer for 1500m3 should be 45 minutes. By upgrading links to 64,000m3 I have gotten the cooldown timer for 5000m3 down to the minimum of 5 minutes.
I would suggest that you link the storage units directly to the launch pad and upgrade those links. That or double check that you have upgraded all of the links between the storage units and the launch pad.

@Matalino & Sam Brockson thank you both. You solved my problem!!!
Upgrading a link rly helps to get the cooldown timer down. I just need to upgrade all the links between the storage and the LP.
(S)------(LP) . . . . . . [250m3 Link] 12h for 3000m3 resources (S)----(P)----(LP) . . .[500m3 & 250m3 Link] 12h for 3000m3 resources (S)------(LP) . . . . . . [500m3 Link] 6h for 3000m3 resources I can keep my 40.000m3 storage space now and am able to refill them all in 24h.
