More cap is always good. It does not make or break the ship though. Thankfully the hull is good enough so as to not have to rely too heavily on both bonuses. |

It actually raises your Maximum Capacitor when fitting a MWD. Like how Laser Cap Bonuses save you capacitor when firing lasers except this gives you extra.
I hope they change it to tracking or falloff in the upcoming balance and just boost the base cap. Most T1 Cruisers cap out quick running an MWD which after long warps, tackle and god forbid cap using weapons leaves Cruisers which have smaller capacitors in a position to be very easily neuted off.
Battlecruisers however run the same sized mods and generally not many more of them that use cap, like 1-2 extra lasers if they use anymore cap intensive mods at all. They have anywhere around twice the capacitor to play with. I would like to see Cruisers get a little bit more of what battlecruisers have with their buff.

The logic behind it being that it needs to brawl to win, so an MWD cap bonus means its less likely to cap out before reaching its target, a very good bonus IMO. |

Indeed, it makes sense in terms of lore-based design on the ship. However, one has to wonder if a Velocity bonus like the Vagabond might be better...? Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you. |

Thorax is a solid ship this sort of change may be overpowered.
I quite like the bonus, it can generally give you the same sort of run time as the Minmatar Cruisers despite weapons using cap, also remember it benefits your cap when the microwarpdrive is both off and on. In fact with T2 and higher meta microwarpdrives this actually increases base cap. |

Try fitting a high-meta MWD (especially DED) with a decent level of Gal Cruiser and then see what you think of it |

even 5 neutron blasters wont cost much capacitor comparer with laser guns, just a little bit more than an invulnerability field cost. the only limit from hybrid gun capacitor use is if you re out of cap, you cant open fire

I don't think you understood correctly. At high levels of Gal Cruiser, with a high-meta MWD, the cap penalty of the MWD actually turns into a cap bonus. |

10% Falloff sounds a bit strong. Either or both of these would be interesting:
10% reduction in Microwarpdrive capacitor use per level (similar to Proteus)
and/or
10% reduction in the mass off any fitted plates per level. |

I would personally favor a 7.5% tracking bonus, kinda putting it in the lineup like a mini megathron which is how I viewed the ship ought to act.
Falloff is too big of a bonus, combine with a few TEs and we are talking about kiting with antimatter. Optimal might be okay, that would be decent range with null, but keeps the close range ammo pretty close. I don't either would fit with the Gallente mentality.
A 10% armor rep bonus like the incursus could be fun and keeps with Gallente traditional bonuses. |

Aside from cruisers in general being totally ******, the Thorax is an excellently designed ship.
Gallente boats are meant to be fast with amazing damage output. Focusing the Thorax on a capacitor-friendly MWD means it can always catch all but the fastest of ships and then tear them a new ******* with heavy blaster fire. Exactly what Gallente ships are generally meant to do.
They're not supposed to be brick armor tanks. That's what the Amarr do. The armor rep bonus that you see on some Gallente hulls is more of a secondary defensive method, and plays into their guerrilla style design by giving them an edge when repping up between fights while simultaneously allowing them to survive just barely long enough to get their kill and gtfo.
You need a solid set of brass balls to fly Gallente boats, and this is a good thing. Whether or not you win the game matters not. -áIt's if you bought it. |

I wish I could shove my arms through the DSL cable, reach wherever you happen to live, and strange you to death.
Active armor rep bonus in ships which need an ungodly amount of MWD'ing around to reach targets, and which have to resort to cap-using weapons is a BIG ****ING NO. It works on the Myrmidon because it has enough lows to brick it up and send the drones away to do the job, but please, not in a PVP ship which is within Nos/Neut range 100% of the frigging time.

Mukun wrote:anyone can tell me how that bonus gives thorax any advantage in combat? Yes. It makes MWD capacitor battery because it gives you more cap. For example if you fit 10MN Microwarpdrive II it gives you +8% more capacitor capacity, which is good for hybrids. If you fit Gistum A-Type 10MN Microwarpdrive it gives you 22% more capacitor.
This way you can perma MWD to target for close range. |
