Hi Everyone,
I have some ideas for Faction war that are aimed at making it into the PVP play ground I think that it was always suposed to be.
Peoples gonna cry about how 'This is EVE you have to lose things in Battle Waaaghh Waaaaghh' But take a bit of time to think about who this idea is aimed at and how that can benefit all players and CCP's Bottom line.
Step 1: Make about three 'Militia Issue' ships Frigate, Cruiser and I dunno BC or BS when a player collects trinkets, Kills, or time logged. These ships get issued Free to Militia members. These ships can't be traded reprocessed and can only be owned one at a time. Their fittings are standard but player skills alter damage performance and such. Obviously PG/CPU become Irrelevant for these fire and forget ships.
Step 2: Do up a couple of lists and buttons for the Militia members to get their ships and such. Also have 'Missions' that Militia members to sign up for in groups or as whole fleets. That mission spawns the goal in the lowsec areas and the race is on and the fight begins to win.
Step 3: Sit back and watch the mayhem! And there would be mayhem. Swarms of frigates bursting out into combat only to return and try again and again. They wouldn't really be able to effect the out come of the serious Faction War players because of their capricious nature and inability to secure plexs requiring more firepower.
The purpose of this is to make PVP fun for new players. Most older players can afford PVP and also their character slots are filled up already. They'l say.. this is EVE, people need to lose something in PVP but rather than think about what a player is LOSING think about what they gain from this idea. New Players get pvp flight time without having to break their tiny bank accounts to do so. Players that want to feel like they have 'hurt' someone when they click can always go do that.
I think that this would make things interesting and exciting for new players and old alike. If a person purchases even 1 month game time they would not have before then that is also financial health for CCP / New Eden.
Perhaps players could eve tick an option that lands them in the militia from day one and into free crazy free for all Frigate battles that launch them into friendships positions in pvp corps and show them how valuable a few extra skills and a bigger better ship can be.
The ships drop no loot or salvage BTW.
Please make this idea cos I want to do it.

Last time I checked you can get pretty much free ships from militia through the LP-stores. You just have to work for those LP. So no need for this.
But more ways to get LP would be good, for like capturing or defending plexes. Also a better incentive to capture and hold systems, except the bragging rights. ---------------------------------- None of yet! |

Yeah see what I am saying. I know its a critical feature of the Eve Universe that we have to 'work' to get our toys to explode (many use Plex) but what I am talking about is not for the long term players. Don't we need to get more people in even if they dont stay for years they might stay a couple months.
I am talking about getting destroyed... returning to station in pod get new ship. Instantly (possible a few minutes delay) like a respawn.
I have flown in the Caldari Militia only a little bit when I was very young player and it was very fun. The corp I was in at the time offered Frigates and Crusiers for these corp Faction war roams but even with a corp of dedicated players it would still be a drain to fund hundreds of newbies. Also these roams took more organising than was reasonable for pvp action trhill experienced.
I didn't mention it but I thought that perhaps the players could dump minerals off at a Navy station to pay for ships and create an incentive for NPC corps to work together as newbs before ever considering a player corp.
A person I know tried eve after I was raving about the only really exciting pvp I have been in one time I was drunk at a party. He entereed the game was tricked into opening a yellow can he had recieved no warning about was shot and thought. Well this is ****edup and left ... that fast.
This guy is the prime eve player if you can jst get him past that initial irritation. In this day and age we only have milliseonds to make an impression on a customer. like someon pressing next on a digital music player.... next...next....next...ahh something I like based on a coupole seconds or less music.
Same with games. I have recently installed two games that I haven't bothered much with based on like 1% of the entire content. I just can't be bothered taking the time to find out.
This is a MARKETING STRATEGY not a game play improveing idea. More players more money better game healthier Developers spending account.
I tried Age of Conan simply because I liked the movie but even though the DL was a massive 24GB the game play was shallow and horribly dull.
Eve has developed massive depth due to its structure and not its mountains of pretty textures or audio. This is a Structural Idea to improve new player interest and CCP bottom line without touching the long term game play at all.

Oh this too. If Eve has greater depth there needs to be big signs that make it obvious. And I can think of no better way then for pirates to be in the FW low sec areas to kick the absolute TAR out of these little ships and really wow the players who should feel no resentment because they have lost nothing.
Also in rare circumstances the frigate swarms may actually take down an advanced player and be thrilled into playing Eve longer. So it plays into everyones hands. the only possible negative I can see are these two points.
1: Players without better information assume that is all there is to Eve Online.
2: They enjoy that style of play far more.
If the pirates do a good job shooting up the rookies and advanced faction warfare players show the ropes then that indicates the greater depth structure of Eve
And if they enjoy that style of play then wait till they get the bigger nastier toys.
I'm not hung up on any ideas I come up with I am like an idea machine I can mass proudce ideas all day long. Its all good man
