Life in space is never easy, always moving from system to system hauling cargo and trying to keep a ship in tip top shape. Even the long hauls can be trying, and the sturdiest of ships have been known to break down in the harshest of ways. Sometimes only a uniquely talented individual can do the needed repairs.
"Rust Creeps" is a new EVE Chronicle written by CCP Abraxas.

To suit the story, there should be a penalty to cloning. Perhaps 25% per level to cost of med clone ?

As well as increased aging, shorter life span.

Wow great Chron, been a while since one has had me glued to the screen like that. I usually find myself liking those Chronicles that tell us something about the greater history of the EVE universe, but when well written these small stories of a few innocuous people going about their own worlds can be breathtaking, and this sir, was finely written indeed

I knew a man like Eren once. He could feel what was wrong with machines, talked to them, listened to them and repair them too. Always making them work again. A machine wizard he was. Never good around people though.
This story brought back good memories and tears to my eyes. I thank you for that Abraxas.

Nice story. Makes you think who else can hear the voices and what it is that's behind the voices.
Makes you wonder what voices could be heard in wormspace and how such psychomancers could be employed to learn about the past and past events.

Real world sailors have, or used to have, a reputation for being more than a little bit superstitious. This story captures that wonderfully.
As to psychic skills in game?
Psi isn't an unusual element of science fiction settings so it wouldn't bother me at all. Regards,

Already have a basis to develop from the Empyrean Age novel, via Jamyl Sarum. Excellent story Abraxas, thoroughly enjoyed.

Loved it, it's captivating and a little bit creepy :)
Love also the idea of having people who can hear the language of the ships, in the world of eve where everything is technology and machines, a man who seems to use his soul to repair things.
Gz Abraxas :)

People have always said that I was insane for being able to "listen" to a computer and know on an instinctual level what was wrong and how to repair it. Thanks for letting me know that I'm not the only one out there like this.
Abraxas, as you can guess, this one hit a little close to home for me. Ty for that. -----

That was a great story! A proper nautical tale...but set in space. More, please!
I wish someone would compile all these great tales of EvE into an anthology. I'd buy a book like that in a second! ----------------------------------------------- Conquering the universe, one chess game at a time! |

One of the best stories i have ever read in the Eve Universe . Quite a nice setting for a story to be a little scary : space , loneliness , strange machinery , darkness and shadow , weird characters , lots of mystery . Yes i liked it a lot . I liked how it hinted at dark things but allowed the reader to just ignore it all as the ramblings of an old man who was losing it .
On the light side of things it seems that the Minmatar save money on high tech materials and use shamans to boost there ship abilities . Hell if they have shamans they might as well use them , hah ha ha ha . This might at least account for the ridiculous shield boost abilities of the Minmatar Maelstrom . It's magic silly . . .ha hah ha .
Ones again i loved the story . I could not help but be reminded a little of Warhammer 40 k with its " machine spirits " and demons from the warp trying to posses ship crews while in transit .
